MPOWR is characterized by connectivity, integrity, & a radical confidence within – it’s a culture.
Tavarus, pushes athletes to train with intent & purpose. We constantly remind athletes that player development is a journey. Basketball training is technical, focusing on the nuances of the game, skill complexity, and mastery. The motivation is progress, not perfection!
MPOWR is a strength of character coupled with a passionate work ethic. The goal is to build efficient players.
Through basketball player development, we push forward the intent and purpose of Tavarus' village and reintroduce the discipline and determination that has defined his character. MPOWR is designed to pour into the minds and hearts of families; to give applicable concrete tools for the future.
ADDRESS YOUR DISTRACTIONS
Refrain from losing the ability to focus by monitoring your distractions.
CLEAR YOUR MIND
If your mind is clouded, you can't focus on what your trainer is teaching you. Put everything aside, so you can connect with the present moment. Your mind has to be clear to have space to mentally conquer your training session.
PRACTICE NEW LIMITS
Mastering anything takes practice. Exercise your mind by pushing beyond your normal limits. When you think you can't do more, take time to encourage yourself and push through. You can create new limits for yourself.
EXPANDING YOUR MENTAL
CAPACITY
BE THOUGHT-PROVOKING
Attentiveness should be thought provoking. When you're learning something new during training, being focused will prompt you to ask questions such as, "why are we doing this?" or "why is this move important?" Be curious & practice being vocal about your curiosity.
REPEAT, MIMICK, EXECUTE
Be fully attentive during the instructional phase of training. Your mind should be fully locked into the details. When your trainer instructs you to do something, you should be able to repeat what is said then execute it. Being fully locked into instruction allows you to mimick what your trainer is showing you.

My son trained with Tavarus during the summer of his freshman season all the way through a season of college ball. I'm a CrossFit coach myself and I was immediately impressed w/ Tavarus' work ethic and the work he put into his craft. I was sold when I heard him tell a young man if he didn't want to work, he could leave and stop wasting his time, and his parent’s money. Right there I knew he was about the love and results and not the money. Christian really looked up to Tavarus as a role model and would say things after a game like "Dad did you see that Tavarus move I put on him?" What's funny is, in my late 30's during this time I was taking things he was teaching Christian and applying them to my local pick-up games, and it would work.
