SANTA'S BACK IN TOWN!

It’s been a while since he’s been able to literally see your smiles- a whole 2 years! Santa is ready and excited to get back to carefree photos and visits.

Q Important question first. When will you be at Tauranga Crossing?

SANTA I will be in my Toy Workshop lots because I don’t want to miss seeing anyone!

From Friday 25 November until 14 December, from 10am – 6pm daily, or until 7pm on Thursday late nights.

From Thursday 15 December until Christmas Eve, from 10am until 7pm daily – oh! Apart from the 17 – 19 December when I’ll only be there until 4pm.

Q What is Sensitive Santa about?

SANTA We have special Sensitive Santa sessions at Tauranga Crossing. This is for people who struggle with the hustle and bustle of the mall. Sensitive Santa visits are before or after the centre opens. The lighting is dim, there’s no music, and the photographer’s flash is turned off. It’s a gentle time.

Q Is it true you don’t mind if animals visit you?

SANTA At Tauranga Crossing, I have something called Santa Paws for pets. I say “ho ho” and they say “woof woof”. Mainly dogs (some cats and even a lizard) came to have a photo with me last year. It’s very popular so best book. Book online at taurangacrossing.co.nz

Q Do you have a special Santa memory to share?

SANTA I’m just looking forward to seeing people’s faces again – without masks. Of course, they are welcome to wear them if they’d like to, but I have missed seeing those smiles.

Q Can we write to you?

SANTA I love letters. My mailbox is between 2 Degrees and Mad Mex on the upper level of the mall. Let me know what’s on your wishlist. Remember to include your address so I can reply to you!

Q Where can we find the best Santa set in the Bay?

SANTA Come visit me at Tauranga Crossing’s magnificent Toy Workshop, you’ll find it at the bottom of the escalator in the mall. Ho ho ho, see you soon!

THIS YEAR'S

CHRISTMAS DECORATION

Every year we invite local artists to design this year’s Christmas decoration that Santa gifts to children that visit him at Tauranga Crossing. It’s the fourth year running so they are becoming a collector’s item!

The lovely Kanyawi Prasitiwong created our 2022 design. She was quite nervous to enter her decoration as she hasn’t done design for many years, but we’re so glad that she did! Her design is intricate, and she created it “…in the hope that my hope and love flows through this decoration to all the people.”.

We asked Kanyawi what her inspiration was, she said, “The Northern Star represents hope. The doves represent love. And the horns of the reindeer represent luck. All of this together represents Christmas kindness. So many people have had a hard time this year, so I hope that this decoration gives the owner strength and spirit.”

Tauranga Crossing Marketing Manager, Jess Till, was wowed by Kanyawi’s kindness and thought. “All of our decorations have had special meaning but this particular one, after the year or two that have been, has so much hope and meaning behind it. I hope you love it as much as Santa and I do!”.
