'Flourish' not only celebrates our commitment to nature and sustainability, which are increasingly vital to our regional community, but also embodies the growth and prosperity of our TAS community. It reflects the essence of a thriving environment that nurtures individual potential, building on strong foundations to foster growth.

In 2024, there are 1,162 students enrolled at Trinity Anglican School, across both White Rock Campus and Kewarra Beach Campus.
There are 49 students enrolled at TAS Kewarra Beach ELC and 83 students at TAS White Rock ELC.

As we conclude another remarkable year at TAS, TRINITAS offers a glimpse into the vibrancy of our exceptional school community. I trust that you will enjoy perusing these pages as much as the TAS community has valued the opportunities, experiences, and achievements highlighted within.
In 2024, TAS was privileged to be among a select group of schools worldwide chosen to feature in the Commonwealth@75 commemorative publication. This prestigious recognition underscores our commitment to educational excellence on the global stage. A copy of this publication is on display in the foyer of our White Rock Administration Building, another resides in the British Parliamentary Library, and I am informed that a copy is also housed in Buckingham Palace.

In January, we welcomed new and returning TAS families to the 2024 school year.
During February, Principal Paul Sjogren hosted the annual Principal’s Welcome Evening, while Year 12’s formed friendships with the Year 7's at the Year 7 & 12 social.
In March, TAS hosted the first round of the Interschool Chess Championships, while Year 12 students celebrated their progress with their first Senior Dinner.
In April, students gathered for ANZAC Day ceremonies and Easter hat parades, while Year 5 students participated in the Cairns Young Leaders Summit.
In May, TAS was awarded 3 Australian Education Awards. Term 2 was filled with events including Mother’s Day, Science Week and Interhouse Competitions.
In June, Term 2 wrapped up with Round 2 of the Interschool Chess Championships, KBCP Charities Fair and the long-awaited Year 12 Formal. We warmly welcomed the first cohort of TAS Pre-Kindy.
In July, our community gathered for various NAIDOC Week celebrations and Interhouse Competitions.
In August, we celebrated creative endeavors with the annual TAS goes MAD festival and Variety Night. In addition to Book Week, and Ponytail Project.

Term 3 concluded with Mock Exams for our Year 12 students, and community events to celebrate Father’s Day.
The final Term of the year kicked off with the annual TAS Gala Ball, while our youngest primary students showed house spirit at their swimming carnival.
We celebrated the end of the school year with Christmas markets, assemblies and awards ceremonies before farewelling Year 12's in the traditional time tunnel.
In December, we thanked our school community for a successful year and sent well-wishes for a refreshing school break.
While there were numerous other accolades and awards recognising the outstanding contributions of our students, programs, and community over the year, I am particularly proud of the increasing emphasis on service. Generosity, service, and spirit form the foundational values of any school community.
Through our Gala Ball, our community raised over $30,000 for the Principal’s Opportunity Scholarship Fund; our Year 12 students raised more than $35,000 for the Cancer Council participating in the Ponytail Project; and secondary students made over 1,500 sandwiches each term as part of the Eat Up Initiative, providing lunches for students in need at local schools. Our Day for Daniel, Charities Fair, tree-planting initiatives, individual Round Square service projects, and numerous other programs continually remind our students of the importance of helping, supporting, and uplifting those less fortunate.
We bid a heartfelt farewell to Ms Mary Kershaw after more than a decade of dedicated service, eight of which she spent leading the TAS Kewarra Beach community. Mary has led with both courage and compassion, fostering a wonderful learning environment. We extend our deepest gratitude and wish her and Bill all the best in the next chapter of their journey.

The Music House, a cherished community landmark, was built by Jeff Pezzutti on Progress Road in 1962. Jeff and his family lived there until 1999, with Jeff playing a pivotal role in TAS early years and proudly supporting the school throughout his life. After the Pezzutti family moved, the house became the
Music House, serving as a vibrant hub for music lessons and workshops for many years. Recently, it was returned to the Pezzutti family and relocated to their farm. This marks a new chapter in its story while celebrating the enduring legacy of Jeff Pezzutti, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
This year has been one of continued growth and development within our community. As we grow, so too must our systems and structures, to ensure we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence.
This year has been a journey of inclusive excellence, supporting our students to reach their full potential and strive for success in all they do. At TAS, we are truly fortunate to have access to such incredible opportunities. As highlighted at the Awards Night, our holistic approach to education nurtures students mentally, physically, and spiritually, helping to shape well-rounded graduates.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated and supportive staff, who go above and beyond to create a welcoming and nurturing learning environment.
Next year will mark the initiation of Year Level Coordinators for Years 7, 8, and 9, a step that we believe will strengthen
our Pastoral Care and student wellbeing structures during crucial developmental years.
As we say farewell to the graduating Year 12s of 2024, we send them off with our best wishes. Their final year has been filled with memorable moments—from their retreat and formal to their valedictory. May they carry the legacy of kindness and compassion instilled in them, wherever their journeys take them.
With excitement and anticipation, we look forward to welcoming our Year 7's in 2025 as they embark on the next stage of their educational journey.

A: Behold, the class of 2024! It has been an incredible, wild year, filled with lots of emotions and memories. Dramas have occurred, life has happened, but at the end of the day, we are all friends. Through our times of stress, we have come through mostly unscathed!
F: We started this journey 13 years ago. And now, most of us can drive. Some of us can vote. Adulthood is upon us whether we like it or not. Maturity? Maybe not so much. Graduation is our first step into the world. Albert and I wish everyone all the best in whatever pathway you choose to take.
A: We’d like to mention some of the little moments that defined this year. Of course, Damian, we’d like to thank you for breaking the ping pong table. Although disappointing, it was certainly entertaining.
F: Also, aren’t we glad to be passing the Year 12 area, or as we like to call it the STEM cell, onto the year 11’s!
A: Hopefully they enjoy the fridge, the microwave, and of course, the wonderful smell! The car park. Never again will we have to worry about Mr Manea closing it off at 8:30am.
F: Drive safe everyone! So now, let’s raise our glasses in a toast to everything that has been.

Head of Kewarra Beach Primary, Mary Kershaw
2024 has been a year of transformation and achievement at Kewarra Beach Primary. Key highlights include campus upgrades, such as improved parking and ongoing building projects, the recognition of our innovative Student Wellbeing Program with an Australian Education Award, and student-designed nature trail signs that celebrate our unique environment.
Our campus upholds a commitment to the Round Square movement, with a strengthened focus on entrepreneurship and philanthropy this year. Aligned with Round Square IDEALS and National School Aid accreditation, student leaders have led impactful projects, including fundraisers, item collections, and market stalls such as the Charities Fair and Courtyard Christmas Markets, igniting a growing passion for giving back.
Our students are prepared to make a meaningful impact in an ever-changing world. With a global perspective, empathy, and adaptability, they’re developing essential skills for the future. Teachers connect classroom learning to local and global needs, inspiring students to embrace social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and innovation. Many are driven to tackle global challenges, recognising the importance of bigpicture thinking, social responsibility, and strategic planning in our interconnected world.
Year 4 students at Kewarra Beach Campus participated in the Pillowcase Program, facilitated by Red Cross volunteers and staff. Aligned with the Civics and Citizenship and Health and Physical Education curricula, this initiative aims to enhance disaster resilience among students and empower them to play an active role in their emergency preparedness.
Year 1 students at Kewarra Beach campus had an exciting visit from the Smithfield Fire Station. Firefighters brought along their fire engine, giving the students a close-up look at the vehicle and its equipment.
We are inspired by the potential of our students to become compassionate, forwardthinking leaders. With the skills, empathy, and resilience they’re developing, they are well-prepared to navigate an evolving world. Guided by dedicated teachers, they are laying the foundation for meaningful social impact, poised to grow into mindful changemakers shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.
Year 6 students at Kewarra Beach campus embraced the tradition of planting trees for Schools Tree Day, combining hands-on learning with environmental action. This annual event fosters teamwork, environmental stewardship, and a commitment to a greener future while enhancing the school’s natural beauty.
This year, we successfully launched the KBCP 100+ Trees Project, planting over 100 trees across the school grounds and new carpark landscape islands. This initiative addressed the loss of green spaces due to expanding facilities while promoting biodiversity and restoring habitats for local wildlife.
With support from Cairns Regional Council and guided by the 2024 National Science Week theme, Species Survival – More than Just Sustainability, students played a key role in researching tree species, tending seedlings, preparing planting areas, and caring for young trees. The main planting drive took place during Science Week (August 10–18), focusing on how science and innovation can protect biodiversity and encourage wildlife to thrive on campus.
The end of 2024 provides a moment to reflect on an extraordinary year of achievement, growth, and collaboration at our campus. This year has been a testament to the dedication of our staff, the perseverance of our students, and the unwavering support of our community. Together, our community has continued to build a culture of excellence, innovation, and compassion. One of my proudest moments came with being recognised nationally as a Primary School of the Year through the Australian Education Excellence Awards. This prestigious accolade reflects the collective effort of our staff, students, and families. Further adding to this recognition, our commitment to sustainability and forward-thinking education was celebrated with the 5-Star Sustainability Award and the 5-Star Innovation Award. In academics, students excelled on both state and national stages. In the da Vinci Decathlon, students achieved an impressive third place overall in Queensland, leading the state in mathematics for Year 5 and Year 6. Additionally, our
success in the QAMT State Championships and our victory as the Chess Regional Champions highlights the diverse talents of our students and their ability to think critically and strategically.
These accolades reflect the thriving culture we have nurtured, one where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. Beyond awards, this year has been marked by a deepened focus on building meaningful connections within the community. The emphasis on collaboration between staff and families has further strengthened our shared vision for holistic education. The accomplishments of 2024 set a high standard, but they also inspire us to aim even higher in 2025. Together, we will continue to empower students to thrive, innovate, and lead with integrity and compassion.

– What a year Archer and I have had! Our leadership journey started at last year’s award ceremony and throughout the year it has been a privilege and honour watching our community grow and learn. We also enjoyed helping with Prep to Year 2 sporting events, and assisting or speaking at important services. Personally, one of my highlights this year has been helping younger students develop into amazing TAS role models. To be effective leaders, we have committed everyday to be honest, caring, and committed TAS students and we are proud to see so many other students commit to this way of TAS life.
A – Like Laura, my highlight for 2024, was looking after the younger students at so many different events, it was a great opportunity for me to grow as a leader. Year 6 has been a wonderful year connecting with new classmates and developing friendships with our cohort. Care and connect, a program running from years 3 to 6, includes Year 6’s as peer leaders, teaching younger students many ways about caring, connecting and being social. It has been an amazing opportunity to build leadership skills and connect with other students from years 3 to 6. Care and Connect can help children build relationships and learn to cope with difficult situations. But most of all we have thoroughly enjoyed fulfilling the duties of school captain, such as committing to various events, displaying the TAS values and being actively involved in the TAS community.
TAS White Rock Campus Primary has always been community minded with events such as the community carnival, book week parade, house competitions, musical performances, Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations, and the Easter Parade, all of these are unique to TAS and that’s
something that makes us so special. One of the things I have always loved about TAS is the way that we all take part in these activities and that no one gets left out.
L - TAS students embrace curiosity that lets us explore different things, rise to a challenge and never be afraid of learning something new. This makes us a student body which enhances the willing to know and understand more. What more could we ask for our schooling life.
This year we have also been successful in the sporting arena - students competed at district, regional, state and national level. Congratulations to our primary sports tour to the sunshine coast, where more than 40 students, represented TAS in netball, soccer, or hockey. We were also very successful in chess with 3 girls teams flying to Brisbane to compete in the state finals, with another 2 mixed teams representing TAS as the state championships.
A – Overall, 2024 has been a fabulous year for TAS White Rock Campus Primary. We are both proud to be part of an award-winning school that has achieved a lot over the years. A special mention to everyone’s parents and hardworking teachers who have made this year the best it can be. The year 6 cohort is very much looking forward to a new chapter in high school. Good luck to the incoming captains, we wish you an exciting and successful year. The Year Six Connect to Country Northern Territory Tour offered students an unforgettable experience, immersing them in the region's rich cultural heritage, natural wonders, and history.
Highlights included the Welcome to Country Saltwater Ceremony, exploring Ubirr Rock Art, and learning about local ecosystems on the Yellow Waters and Katherine Gorge Dreaming Cruises. Students applied classroom knowledge while developing personal and interpersonal skills through group activities, such as waterfall swimming, and visiting Parliament House and the Military Museum.
Close encounters with wildlife at Crocosaurus Cove and visits to the NT Museum and Art Gallery added depth to this hands-on educational adventure. This tour fostered a connection with the land and Indigenous culture, creating lasting memories and insights.

EXCEEDING NATIONAL QUALITY STANDARDS (NQS)
We are thrilled to announce that both our TAS Early Learning Centres at White Rock and Kewarra Beach have been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standards, under the National Quality Framework. An overall rating of Exceeding NQS is one of the highest National Quality Standard rating a service can receive.
Year 5 students participated in the YLS to develop skills essential for future leadership roles. Organised by the Australian School of Entrepreneurship, the summit aims to refine key components for successful teamwork.

COMMONWEALTH 75
TAS celebrated being featured in the Commonwealth 75 publication, officially launched at London’s iconic Westminster Abbey. The publication marks the 75th anniversary of the Commonwealth and highlights the achievements of institutions and organisations from its 56 member countries, showcasing their influence across education, health, the arts, and more. The Commonwealth 75 publication is not only a beautifully crafted coffee table book but also an archival resource, with copies displayed in Buckingham Palace and preserved for future generations. This inclusion further underscores TAS's role as a leader in education, both locally and globally, and highlights the school’s commitment to graduating students who are ready to thrive in an interconnected world.
INSPIRING SCIENTISTS!
Talented Year 10 students had a blast at JCU Cairns, diving into the University of Newcastle’s Science and Engineering Challenge. From earthquake-proof towers to powering cities, they embraced every challenge with creativity and teamwork. TAS was among seven other regional schools represented at the event. Well done!

The 2024 Interhouse Sporting Calendar was a dynamic showcase of athleticism, sportsmanship, and house spirit, with students competing in a wide range of events. From the Secondary Swimming Carnival and Triathlon to Public Speaking, Debating, and Singing, each competition provided students with unique opportunities to contribute to their houses.
Leichhardt emerged as the dominant force, claiming both the Interhouse Competition Cup and the Dragonheart Trophy. The Competition Cup is awarded based on performance across key events, while the Dragonheart Trophy recognises outstanding participation throughout the year. Leichhardt’s success cemented their reputation as a powerhouse of participation and achievement.
However, the year wasn’t solely defined by one house. Dalrymple, Mulligan, and Kennedy all had standout performances, contributing to the competitive spirit and camaraderie that made the year unforgettable. Let’s now take a closer look at the highlights from each of the key events across Term 1 to Term 4, where students pushed their limits and created lasting memories.
The Overall House Trophy is awarded based on performance by each House in Swimming, Cross-Country, Athletics, Debating, Singing, Public Speaking and Triathlon.

Trinity Day is an important day for the TAS community to celebrate who we are and where we want to be. The day has many traditions including the Trinity Day Service, the house feasts, Tug-o-war and the dash. Congratulations to all the students who represented their houses proudly.
Secondary school students took part in the annual singing competition, showcasing the fruits of weeks of rehearsal. The audience was treated to four outstanding performances that truly captivated everyone. The judges were thrilled with the enthusiastic participation from all the students and enjoyed the unique stories behind each song. The Secondary Activities Program provided students with diverse opportunities to develop new skills, foster creativity, and enhance physical wellness.
In the arts, activities such as Visual Art, Photography, and Theatre Sports encouraged students to explore different mediums, express their creativity, and collaborate with peers.
For those passionate about sports, the program offered a variety of indoor and outdoor sporting activities that promoted teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
The E-Sport, Chess, and Board Games activities allowed students to develop
critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills in both digital and strategic formats.
Running Club and Fitness Bootcamp helped students build stamina, strength, and self-discipline, while Yoga supported flexibility, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.
The Round Square activity focused on community service, with initiatives such as the Eat Up program, alongside other environmental projects within the school.
These activities fostered global awareness, social responsibility, and a sense of community.
TAS students excelled in 2024, showcasing remarkable talent and sportsmanship across various interschool events.
• FNQ Schools Surf League Carnival: 40+ students represented TAS, securing 3rd place amid challenging conditions.
• BDO Primary Hockey Carnival: TAS fielded five teams; the Primary Girls won their division, and the Boys placed 3rd.
JGFA FNQ Soccer Championships: TAS entered nine teams, with U10 TAS Green crowned champions. Eden Jung and Harvey Hayes earned individual accolades.
Cairns Water Polo Gala Day: Six teams displayed teamwork and enthusiasm.
Vicki Wilson & Marlin Coast Netball Competitions: Multiple TAS teams shone, with the Secondary Boys finishing runners-up.
TCS Interschool Cross Country: TAS won the 10-12 division and saw 30 students qualify for regional championships, with 17 podium finishes.
TCS Interschool Track & Field: 49 athletes advanced to regionals, with four crowned age champions.

As we reflect on 2024, Trinity Anglican School celebrates a year of outstanding academic achievements across all year levels, underpinned by the dedication of our students, the expertise of our staff, and the unwavering support of our school community.
This year saw significant success across academic disciplines, with students excelling in state and national competitions, including the da Vinci Decathlon, QMAT Mathematics Competitions, Regional and State Chess Championships, and innovative STEM projects such as the annual JCU Titration Competition and the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards.
Our students also shone in the Arts, with the remarkable TAS Goes M.A.D festival standing as a key highlight.
Tailored programs, including enrichment opportunities and targeted learning, ensured every student was empowered to reach their full potential, fostering both academic growth and personal development.
In 2024, the NAPLAN results for Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 once again reinforced the excellent work undertaken by students in Literacy and Numeracy. While NAPLAN is just one of many ways that student
success is measured at TAS, the national significance of these assessments and the ongoing success of TAS students in these standardised tests cannot be overstated.
A highlight of the year was the introduction of the TAS MedEntry Course, designed to support aspiring medical students in their preparation for UCAT examinations and university admissions. This initiative reflects our commitment to equipping students with specialized pathways to achieve their career aspirations.
A special mention goes to our Year 12 students, who have approached their final year with determination, resilience, and focus. Their hard work and commitment have been evident throughout the year. We celebrate their achievements and acknowledge their role as mentors and leaders within the school community, setting an inspiring example for their younger peers.
This year’s accomplishments are a testament to the dynamic and supportive learning environment at Trinity Anglican School. As we conclude 2024, we look forward to building on these successes and continuing to nurture curious, confident, and compassionate learners who are prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
TAS embraced the theme of National Science Week 2024: "Species Survival –More than Just Sustainability." As part of the TAS revegetation program, students planted 100 trees at Kewarra Beach. Astronomy Night provided a stellar lesson on the Perseid meteor shower, while forensic science workshops and a visit to Cairns Aquarium deepened our understanding of how science supports species survival and thriving ecosystems. As National Science Week wraps up, let’s stay inspired by the power of science and innovation to drive meaningful change and support the survival and flourishing of species in our dynamic world.
Students at White Rock Campus thoroughly enjoyed their immersive forensic science workshop, where they delved into the intricate processes of investigating a crime scene. They explored various forensic techniques, including forensic botany, chromatography, UV light analysis, animal track identification, and scatology. A special thank you to Education Interactive for making the workshop both informative and captivating.
This year, Years 4 to 6 participated in the Japan Study Tour as part of our exchange program with Keimei Gakuen Elementary School. Students explored Japanese culture through visits to the Imperial Palace Museum, Tokyo Station, and other landmarks. They also engaged with Japanese students during their classroom experience and homestay with host families. Highlights included visits to the Tsuruoka Hachiman Gu Shrine, Hase Temple, the Great Buddha of Kamakura, and Tokyo Disneyland.
In 2024, TAS Japanese students had a highly successful year. In late 2023, Year 10 and 11 students participated in a 14-day cultural immersion trip to Japan, visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. They explored historical sites, took language lessons, dined with a Japanese family, and visited our sister school, Keimei Gakuen, under the guidance of Fukushima Sensei and Kawabata Sensei.
Back at school, TAS excelled in the Education Perfect Global Languages Championship, ranking 4th out of 1169 schools worldwide, with 68 students earning awards.
In the Regional Championships, TAS ranked 1st in Queensland among 316 schools. Year 7 class 7D achieved first place within TAS.
TAS also hosted visiting Japanese schools, fostering cultural exchange and inspiring students to improve their language skills. With increasing enrollment expected in 2025, Japanese remains a popular subject choice at TAS, reflecting students' commitment to mastering the language.
It has been another fantastic year for Secondary Visual Arts, with students demonstrating dedication in their chosen mediums and exhibiting their artworks in various competitions and events, including the Cairns Show, Receive/Respond, and the 2024 Energy Exhibition.
Once again, the highlight was TAS Goes M.A.D., where students from all year levels showcased their talents across a range of mediums and subject matter. The curriculum emphasised both technical skills and creative expression, encouraging students to develop their unique artistic ideas and styles. Overall, the program fostered an inclusive and dynamic environment, allowing students to grow as artists and individuals.

Set against the stunning backdrop of natural bushland, our young students showcased their talents at the Kewarra Beach Campus P-2 Music Assembly. The atmosphere was filled with joy and enthusiasm as they took to the stage, embracing the spirit of community and creativity.

Kewarra Beach Campus was thrilled to host St Barnabas’ Cathedral Choir from Honiara, Solomon Islands. Our students were privileged to gain insight into life in the Solomon Islands
through their performance. Our thanks go to the choir, as well as to Bishop Keith and Reverend Elisabeth for orchestrating this opportunity for our students and families.
The highlight of Term 1 was the annual music workshop led by Mrs. Fiona Hamill – a past Director of Music at TAS who now works in several schools. Not only did Fiona lead some inspirational rehearsals for the Orchestral Band and Strings but she also ran a very enjoyable vocal workshop for choir members from WRCP and KBCP.
This year’s new initiative was a concert at St John’s Church. This showcase event featured our best soloists, giving them a chance to perform in a formal concert setting. Another popular public performance was the Year 11 rock band's performance at the charity car show, held at the Cairns Showgrounds. Our annual invitation to this event gives students the opportunity to perform alongside professional musicians, offering them a taste of potential future musical pathways.
Prep – Year 3 students have enjoyed learning music through playing, singing, interactive technology, dancing, listening to the instruments.
They have also enjoyed strumming chords on the ukulele (Years 1–3), playing percussion instruments, and writing music notes in their music books.
Year 4–5 students each have their own recorder, which provides them with the skills to learn the fundamentals of reading music and playing other instruments (e.g., the Year 5 TAS Brass and Woodwind program).
A recorder is easily portable, and tunes that are practiced well can sound stunning, from Hot Cross Buns to Rondo from Abdelazer by Purcell. Year 6 students discover wonderful music from other countries to research, listen to, play, and present an assignment on.

TAS students had wonderful opportunities to sing and perform in 2024.
In Term 1, TAS Choirs showcased their talent with a combined workshop, WRS Choir's performance at the Year 7 TAS Experience, Harmony Day assemblies featuring WRCS, WRCP, and KBCP choirs, and WRCS Choir concluding the term at the Easter Service.
In Term 2, Week 6, the KBCP Senior Choir and ukulele groups shone at the KBCP 3-6 Music Recital, followed by the WRCS Choir’s performance at the Trinity Day Service in Week 7.
Ukulele groups from WRCP and KBCP added cheer to the Father’s Day Breakfast in Week 8. Week 9 saw the WRCP P-2 Choir perform at an assembly, while the KBCP Songbirds shone in the KBCP P-2 Music Recital. The WRCS Choir closed Term 3 with a heartfelt performance at the WRCS Captains’ Investiture Service in Week 10.
In Term 4, the KBCP Senior Choir gave a memorable performance at the KBCP 3-6 Awards Ceremony, and the WRCS Choir concluded the year with a festive performance at the WRCS Christmas Service.
In Term 2, the KBCP Senior Choir performed at the Anzac Day Dawn Service, while the WRCS Choir sang at the WRCS Anzac Day Service. Later, the WRCP P-2 and 3-6 Choirs, joined by the Ukulele Club, delivered a Mother’s Day-themed concert at the WRCP Music Concert #1.
In Term 3, Week 4, the TAS Combined Choirs and WRC Orchestra delivered a spectacular performance at TAS Goes MAD, followed by a memorable Variety Night featuring the WRCP and KBCP Senior Choirs in Week 6.
In Term 4, Week 5, the WRCP P-2 and 3-6 Choirs held their second concert of the year, and the KBCP Songbirds and Senior Choir delighted audiences at a Christmas Concert. Week 7 featured the WRCP 3-6 Choir at the WRCP Christmas Awards, a TAS Combined Choirs and Orchestra performance at the WRCS Awards Night, and the WRCS Choir at the Valedictory Service.
Throughout the year, TAS students demonstrated exceptional talent, uniting across campuses for concerts, assemblies, and special events. Highlights included Harmony Day, Anzac Day, and festive celebrations, showcasing their dedication to music and enriching the TAS community.
2024 has been a fantastic year for Drama! Students have worked with professional companies, participated in workshops, and enjoyed live contemporary theatre, all while developing and sharing their passion for performance. Year 7 students explored the basics of acting through storytelling and movement, while Year 8 students expanded on their learning with Gothic Theatre and Comedy. In Years 9 and 10, students engaged with Visual Theatre, using puppets, glowsticks, and shadow screens to create and convey ideas. Senior students in Years 11 and 12 pushed their
boundaries by creating original performances and presenting texts in Realism and Theatre of Social Commentary, collaborating with industry professionals to explore new interpretations.
At the TAS Goes M.A.D. event, we entertained the audience with Monty Python’s "Pet Shop" skit and student-devised Comedy performances.
With exciting plans for 2025, we look forward to another year of creativity, confidence, and curiosity in the Drama classroom.

Building on the success of our 2023 production of Grease, a new initiative was introduced to provide students with more opportunities to express themselves on stage. Led by a talented group of Seniors, the TAS Dance Troupe made its debut at the JCU Cairns Eisteddfod and the Dance-X Schools Competition, receiving Highly Commended and Fourth Place in the Jazz categories, respectively. Introducing new artforms and experiences has proven beneficial for our students, and we look forward to continuing the success of Dance in the coming school year.

2024 has been an exciting year of discussion and action in the SRC. Each week the SRC meets during Friday’s TAS Time to discuss current issues that students and staff have raised. We spent the first few weeks setting up
the SRC’s SharePoint page and organising the roles and responsibilities of each member.
Some of the issues the SRC have discussed and addressed this year include: the Uniform Policy, tuckshop menu, rules for bus seats, library opening times, oval rules and many more. Many of these issues were raised through homeroom visits, the SRC’s online survey on SharePoint and one on one conversations between representatives and students. Members were also able to speak at a couple of assemblies to spread awareness about what the SRC does and how to contact us.
Overall, the SRC has had an amazing year and we hope to continue to help students improve TAS in 2025. Poppy and Lydia.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands where our programs are conducted and pay respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging, thanking them for their stewardship of the environment.
In 2024, we ran 18 year-level programs (Years 1–12), a 5-day Duke of Edinburgh Expedition, and 21 days of Year 10 Outdoor Recreation activities, including two 4-day expeditions. Over 30 students will receive Duke of Edinburgh awards, including six at the prestigious gold level—a record for TAS. Notably, 2025 school captain Joanna Chen achieved gold during Year 11, the first in TAS history.
Eighteen students will embark on a 22-day World Challenge Expedition to Nepal in December 2024, featuring an 8-day Himalayan trek, a week of community service, and cultural immersion.
Our Outdoor Education precinct became fully operational in 2024, enhancing program preparation and debriefing. Special thanks to our sponsors—Dr.

Our team expanded in 2024 with Mike Barker joining full-time and Eva (gap student) assisting. For 2025, we welcome Tony Cridland as an Outdoor Education teacher and Ava Rae as an assistant facilitator. The team also completed Mental Health First Aid training to better support students and staff.
We’re proud of our achievements, including recognition in state and national outdoor education awards. These accomplishments are thanks to our passionate students, supportive parents, dedicated teaching staff, and an exceptional outdoor education team.

The Year 10 Outdoor Recreation Program is an elective designed to develop students' outdoor education, recreation, and leadership skills. This year, 22 enthusiastic students participated, meeting weekly for activities and engaging in longer practical sessions and expeditions. Over the year, students spent approximately 17 days on hands-on activities, including:
Term 1: Kayak skills and paddling, culminating in a 4-day paddling expedition.
Term 2: Rock climbing and lifesaving, with extended practice sessions.
Term 3: Hiking, navigation, and first aid, ending with a 4-day hiking expedition.
Highlights included hiking in Danbulla National Park, rock climbing at TAS and the Northern Outlook, canoeing and kayaking on Lake Tinaroo, and participating in orienteering events.
Students also developed personal and leadership skills through reflection and evaluation, catering for group needs, and achieving certifications, including a Senior First Aid Certificate, Bronze Medallion Lifesaving Certificate, and a program reference letter.
The Outdoor Education Department oversees the Duke of Edinburgh Award at TAS, with over 80 students registered in 2024. A record six students achieved gold, including Frances Gale, who received her certificate from Queensland’s Governor in July, and 2025 school captain Joanna Chen, the first TAS student to complete gold in Year 11. The program integrates community service and adventurous journeys, with highlights including a “double gold” canoe expedition at Lake Tinaroo and students raising $3,000 for outdoor equipment. Year 11 students also supported primary outdoor programs, contributing as youth leaders and inspiring younger peers.

On 2 December 2024, 18 Year 10 and 11 students from Trinity Anglican School embarked on the journey of a lifetime – a 22-day student-led World Challenge Expedition to Nepal. This was the 7th TAS World Challenge group and the second to visit Nepal.
The journey began almost 18 months earlier when students committed to the challenge and began fundraising, not only for themselves but also for the group’s community service project. Extensive preparation included student and parent meetings, training expeditions, and group fundraising initiatives, raising over $3000 through food stalls, bake sales, and social media promotion.
The student-led team gathered their entire expedition budget in cash before arriving in Kathmandu. Over the next 22 days, they took full ownership of their budget, covering accommodation, transport, food, guide tips, sightseeing, and relaxation activities. This experiential learning approach, under the guidance of an experienced leader and school staff, allowed students to manage the entire expedition themselves.
The team created a bespoke itinerary, starting with a whitewater rafting safari and trek acclimatisation days in lakeside Pokhara. They then travelled to a nearby government school for several days of community service, including painting, manual labour, and basic construction. A highlight was interacting with local children, teaching English, playing games, and learning some Nepalese.
The team’s fundraising efforts also enabled them to contribute over $3000 to worthy causes, including further
technical building work, educational supplies, and sporting equipment for local organisations.
After a period of rest and recovery in Pokhara, the team flew to Kathmandu, saving a 12-hour bus trip, with stunning views of the Himalayas. Their trek began with an 8-hour drive to the Himalayas, where they spent 8 days trekking in winter conditions. The challenge was immense, with temperatures as low as minus 10°C and altitudes up to 4773 metres above sea level. They stayed in teahouses along the 50km route in Langtang Valley, learning to cook Nepali dishes from their Sherpa guides and gaining inspiration from the people who call the remote mountains home.
The long drive back to Kathmandu was reflective, and the final days were spent shopping, visiting temples, and debriefing on their experiences before the journey home, arriving in Cairns just before Christmas.
The students’ outdoor education experiences proved invaluable, as they developed leadership, teamwork, and budgeting skills, using negotiation and bargaining to save money, which benefitted the local economy. Their efforts left a lasting impact on Nepal, but the most significant change was within the students themselves as they matured into young adults.
This was the sixth successful World Challenge expedition conducted by TAS, with past destinations including Borneo, Ecuador, Tanzania, Nepal, and India. The next group is eager to discover where their adventure will take them in December 2026—perhaps South America?

Principal Sjogren eagerly joined students in the library for National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) to read this year’s chosen book, Bowerbird Blues, by Aura Parker.
WellBeing Week returned in June 2024 to provide the opportunity for students to celebrate the many aspects of wellbeing.
The Far North Queensland Interschool Chess Tournaments were held in the Bishop Centre Terms 1, 2 and 3 and Trinity Anglican School had teams in all divisions enjoying incredible success. Chess continues to grow in popularity as the intellectual and social benefits are significant.

At the Queensland Girls State Finals held, in Brisbane, the TAS 1 team were Primary Girls Regional Champions playing in the Premier Division. TAS 2 and TAS 3 teams placed third and fourth in A Division. At the Queensland Interschool Open State Finals, TAS were Regional Champions in the both the Primary and Secondary. Maxwell Zhou and Mohammad Romies won Regional Board One Prizes.

THIS YEAR, 28 YEAR 12 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PONYTAIL PROJECT, RAISING AN IMPRESSIVE $36,000.
After growing out their hair, the students took the big step today of cutting it off in support of the Cancer Council. The funds raised will directly benefit people impacted by cancer through essential support services, prevention programs, and lifesaving research. On behalf of the students, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to this incredible cause.

The student committee, supported by a Wednesday afternoon activities group, collected and packaged thousands of recyclable items for agents like TerraCycle, NQRA/Containers for Change, and RCYCL. The funds raised from recycling bottles and cans were used to recycle pens, paper, uniforms, and coffee capsules. One hundred kilograms of uniforms were sent to RCYCL at a cost of $454.95.
The activities group played a key role in preparing 1555 cheese sandwiches three times each term, alongside Eat Up volunteers. These sandwiches are distributed to 13 schools in the region, helping to support local communities.
Chaplain Annette organised a Christmas collection for remote communities, with the Round Square student committee donating $2500 from fundraising efforts for purchasing homewares. TAS families also generously contributed to the collection.
Year 11 and 12 students continued volunteering for Rosies, providing meals and conversation for disadvantaged individuals. This ongoing community service effort fosters support for those facing homelessness
We are thrilled to share that the 2024 TAS Relay for Life Team raised an impressive $2,800 for Cancer Council. The team showed unwavering dedication, ensuring that there was always at least one person on the track. A special shoutout to Team Captain Archer for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the cause.
The RSIC Colombia trip included a preconference tour of Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, followed by the main conference in Colombia. The theme “Blooming from the Past” allowed students to engage in cultural activities and workshops, including hiking, service work, and learning about Colombian heritage.
The second annual 'Sleepout' event raised $550 for backpack beds for those in need, with 41 students sleeping rough in the MPH to raise awareness of homelessness.
In the latter weeks of Term 4, students participated in a popular activity making 60 handmade Christmas cards for elderly residents at a local aged care facility.
Congratulations to Harvey Nguyen (Year 6), on receiving the Round Square Gold Award! He made a significant impact by collecting and donating a large quantity of non-perishable food to Hambledon House.
In alignment with the IDEALS of the Round Square international network, Prep and Year 4 Reef Guardians took part in the Tangaroa Blue Great Barrier Reef Clean-Up as part of their Science, Humanities, and Mathematics studies, gathering rubbish and waste from Kewarra Beach.
Congratulations to Archie Loveridge (Year 6), who cycled over 100kms in March to raise money for Make-A-Wish Australia, a charity supporting seriously sick kids across Australia. Archie has surpassed his original fundraising goal, raising over $1,300!
Congratulations to Oscar (Year 6), who, during Homelessness Week, took up the challenge organising a successful event called Salvo's Silly Sock Day for his Round Square Project at Kewarra Beach campus. The initiative was aimed at raising awareness and funds to support the work of the Salvation Army in aiding the homeless.
Special congratulations to Year 6 student Nikita, for organising Rainforest Rescue to plant trees as part of her Round Square gold award. A big well done to the White Rock Primary Round Square committee for their amazing teamwork, they took great care in fertilising the soil, planting the trees and watering them.
Special thanks were extended to the Round Square Captains, student delegates, committee members, and all volunteers who contributed to the fundraising and community service initiatives throughout the year.

Students celebrated NAIDOC Week with a variety of engaging activities. KBCP students participated in an incursion with Gapirri Aboriginal Art, learning about local stories, bush tucker, bush medicine, and the native trees outside our library. Prep students at White Rock Campus had the opportunity to learn from Lisa Lui, a proud Dauareb woman from the Kemer Kemer Meriam Nation of the Torres Strait. Secondary students experienced cultural workshops at Radiant Life College in Innisfail, including spear throwing, the Goondoi Dreamtime Trail, and art activities.
The Kewarra Beach Charities Fair fosters student entrepreneurship and philanthropy, aligning with the Round Square IDEAL of 'Service.' Students showcased exceptional ingenuity, professionally managing all aspects of their fundraising. Congratulations to all for raising over $4000, which will be donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, RSPCA, and The COUCH Foundation.
The event was filled with festive cheer, featuring student-run stalls, handmade crafts, treats, live entertainment, and holiday-themed goodies.
