Message from key bodies From the Principal At Tara we remain committed to the development of young women in a manner which allows them to grow and thrive and become women who are articulate, accomplished, grounded in Christian values ready to take their place on the world stage.
Tara is an inspirational learning environment for close to 780 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12, including 55 boarders. Tara has a strong and proud tradition as a non-selective school for girls which nurtures its students academically as well as provides wonderful opportunities in the cocurricular arenas of the performing and creative arts, sports and the service of others. It is a school filled with energy and vitality and the students enjoy impressive facilities and excellent teaching by passionate and dedicated staff.
At Tara, academic focus and excellence are at the core of our programs. In recent years we have invested strongly in our staff and students in the introduction and implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary and Middle Years programs. These learning frameworks are developing and strengthening girls’ learning and equipping them well for the HSC years. We continue to seek opportunities for students to involve themselves in learning beyond our School and in 2017, we undertook our first STEM tour in the Junior School and the Senior School students had the opportunity to participate in student exchanges, and tours for History and STEM.
The Strategic Plan 2016-2020 provides the impetus and direction for the development of the School. Our aim is to build a future that optimises each girl's ability to learn and develop as a strong, resilient young woman who leaves Tara well prepared to embrace life's adventures. Our vision in our current plan is that by the end of 2020, Tara will be a leader in girls’ Christian education: researchinformed teaching and learning with an emphasis on the holistic development of each student, and where every student is cared for, challenged and equipped to live out the distinctive values of the School. Tara will continue to promote excellence in all aspects of School life. The relational aspects of connection and support will continue to be key defining aspects of the School's culture and the Christian faith will continue to form our foundation.
Student wellbeing and development continue to be a focus at Tara. Our goal is to provide a Christian environment where we can authentically meet each girl’s need at every point in time. To this end, our wellbeing programs are carefully considered and responsive to the needs and development stages for Tara girls from our very youngest to our graduates.
Affirmation
The School continues, as part of the current Strategic Plan, to provide learning experiences, spaces and opportunities in and beyond our spacious grounds which support our vision to be a leader in girls’ Christian education and is purposeful in its intent.
Service to Others
Mrs Susan Middlebrook, Principal
From the Head Girl The Tara community strives to provide quality education to young women, empowering students to achieve their best in all they do. By fostering a Christian environment, not only are the students given boundless opportunities in academic and co-curricular fields, but each student is genuinely cared for and welcomed. As students, we are encouraged to strive towards excellence whilst exemplifying the Tara Values of Affirmation, Integrity, Opportunity and Service to Others. Although Tara is a diverse community featuring a wide range of talents, students can feel unified through a common identity as a Tara girl, working together to achieve their full potential as the next leaders of their generation.
