PETER NAUGHTON

TWO RIVERS

for solo marimba

NOTES Two Rivers is a lyrical marimba solo composed by Peter Naughton. Its hymnlike texture and flowing melody evoke the sounds of early American folk music. Naughton originally conceived of the piece while teaching at Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Door County, Wisconsin. Surrounded by vast farmlands and rustic architecture, Birch Creek naturally served as the inspiration for the pastoral sounds present in this piece. Two Rivers provides a great opportunity to explore a wide range of expressive possibilities on the marimba.
