NOTES Rhythm Rocket is a novelty percussion ensemble for two or more players which offers a variety of options for instrumentation. The package comes with two play-along recordings—a short version geared towards elementary age students and a longer version more suited to middle school players. The piece can be played on buckets, practice pads (with rims or two playing zones), or any combination of drums. For that matter, anything that can produce two sounds and be played with sticks may be used. For example, wooden stools or music stands could also work well‌use your imagination! The short/elementary version can also be played on hand drums such as tubanos, djembes, water jugs, etc. In this case, hand claps may be substituted for the stick clicks. Directors and students are encouraged to consider adding visual elements that will enhance the music as well as the audience experience.
