PROGRAM NOTES
Dakel Energy is a work for percussion quartet written for and dedicated to my good friends of Dakel Percusión (Chile). I had the pleasure of meeting these fantastic musicians at a festival in 2018, which eventually led to the start of a wonderful friendship and numerous collaborations. Dakel Energy seeks to evoke the fiery musical spirit and flow of Dakel.

PLAYERS AND INSTRUMENTATION
Dakel Energy requires 4 players with the following instrumentation:
1. Vibraphone + large drum*
2. Marimba 1 (low A) + large drum*
3. Marimba 2 (5-octave)
4. Percussion — kick drum (mounted) , 2 toms (high & low), bongos, 2 suspended cymbals (high & low)
*concert bass drum, large marching bass drum, taiko, or similar
