With a decreased footprint since the sale of the lot next door, and the increase in traffic/work coming out of Romulus, a couple crews did some work beautifying the Romulus yard last week

James Dixon, Arnie Trevino and Ryan Brown along with Carlos Mayo and Sam Pathic with Steve Minella on another day They did quite a bit of clearing, cleaning, and organizing Taplin equipment parking and roll off box staging will be much smoother now, thanks to these crews!

Our very own Kristen Gray looking happy and in her element on a recent hiking/camping trip to Colorado! Thanks for sharing your Taplin swag travels!

Training Academy Videos

Great job to Tyler Mayes and Harvey Hernandez for their work on creating the first of hopefully many Taplin training videos!

These (and future video projects) will be part of the new hire onboarding process and will soon become required training.

If you have suggestions for future training video ideas (or if you’d like to help with video production, please email Alexis.

If you are driving around a school bus, or are in a school zone, follow school bus safety rules and guidelines. In general:

• Be extra attentive around buses, particularly during the beginning and end of the school year, when ac-cidents happen most frequently.

• SLOW DOWN drive no more than 25MPH near school buses or bus stops. Some school zones may dictate a lower speed limit.

• If you are behind a school bus, stay a safe distance away (~3 seconds behind).

• Never pass a stopped bus from behind, or from ei-ther direction on an undivided road.

• If the yellow or red lights are flashing and the STOP arm is extended, traffic must stop.

• The area 10 feet around a school bus is the most dangerous for children; stop far enough back to allow them space to safely enter and exit the bus.

Accidents involving school buses take place most frequently in the months of September (back to school season) and June (end of the school year).

87% of accidents involving a school bus are caused by another vehicle.

Passing vehicles cause an estimated two-thirds of all school bus loading and unloading fatalities.

More school-age pedestrians are killed from 7- 8am and 3 - 4pm than any other times of the day.
