RIVER DISCOVERY CENTER Melaka, a city that breathes and runs through a river. The pulse of the river is slowly fading where contextual integration between the place, people and river has been limited, people only pass by the river with limited engagement. This project is a new injection to the current site by having water sports as a catalyst to reintroduce the significance of the river, connecting the past to the future. The project aims to create a river discovery centre for the locals to learn, share and interact, revitalise and celebrate the river yet immersing the local's and the place's needs and aspirations.

CIRCULATION AXIS a linear journey with spill out spaces, timber walkway as main spine circulate the users, branching out to other spaces MEMORY REPOSITORY an journey with timber furnishes reminds users of the interior of a boat RECONNECTOR a long walkway connecting from the main road to the another side of the river (river cruise)

RAINWATER HARVESTING slope roof is designed for rainwater harvesting, rainwater is collected for toilet flushing purpose

NATURAL LIGHTING large skylight is designed along circulation spaces to allow natural lighting into the building

PAUSE TO PULSE THE ROAMER’S Medan Pasar is a pause in the social rhythm of the people's life. The people are mainly observed as Roamer's, where people wander and pass through every corner of the city. Medan Pasar as an induced pause in the roamer's journey drawn them in by art and architectural invitation to stop,explore and wander transiently, but no destination, purpose and attractions in sight to stay - a city to be passed

K E Y Q UE S T I O N How can the Community Center act as a pause to interrupt the dominant urban flows and consumes the language of the city to create pulse for people in a city of lost ?
