How to measure a Croissant? To get the accurate dimension of the croissant, I took photos from three directions of it in the fablab photo studio. The camera lense has to be perpendicular to the croissant to ensure the photo we got is the horizontal projection. Section cuts were scanned to get actual dimensions. Then I traced the outline of the sections, useing a 10mmX10mm grid to mesh their area. Orthographic projection drawings are drawn by putting three sections on the position of cuts, and to build a 3-dimensional coordinate, then further draw the halft of the croissant.

Using the layout of the croissant as base, sections are put intothe positions of cuts, and the outline of the sections are connected togerther to build the model of half crossiant.

New Mario world

The making of new Mario world. The Mario world I got is two views under the sea level. In my work, I tried to make a picture of the huge octopus on the sea bed. Several attempts was made to find the best position of rocks. Axonometric drawing skills were used to achieve the picture in 3 dimensional.

6

For each layer of rocks, a plane has been set up with a grid, where the position and dimension of the objects are decided. The thickness of the layer varies from 8mm to 13mm separately.

PAPER LANDSCAPE

The making of new landscape The grid points are offset by a height that exaggerate the variation of the original landscape. Three different types of 3d patterns were used, they had been designed with a base. For the variation of the pattern, three lines bending in opposite direction with the landscape.

I manually did the cutting and assembled them with white glue.-

Original lanscape.

The shape of the attractors curves is like a flying butterfly.

The three patterns are designed with base to fit in the rectangle gird. The taps are glued by white glue.

Combination of 2d paneling and 3d paneling.

Invisible city

The Sky II People in the city are fond of gold and rare stones. The picture has showed the movement of the King from his private chamber to the street.

REFLECTION Through the this semester’s study of FoDR, I have learnt a lot about the way to express my idea. In the lectures, I was guided to the door of design, seeing people challanging regulations and limitations to another boundary. Professors have share their experience and insight with us, introducing the basic techniques used in design. From the four modules, we had learnt to use the creative adobe suit with the Rhino software to represent our ideas. Also about how to extract the best point from sea of thoughts; find out which part can get more credit; and to maintain ourselves during the process. In my works, none of them has made me feel real satisfied, cause we always learnt how to improve it after the pinup. Numerous preparation and re-do has made us more realistic. My goal for the next phrase of study is to be more creatvie and narrative in representing the pictures. Seems like I always treat my works in the way of pictures instead of digging in the meaning of thoughts behind it.
