Location

Our One-to-One and Club 8 courses are both held in our school located in the prestigious area of Kensington, directly opposite Gloucester Road underground station, on the Circle, District and Piccadilly lines. During the summer period, we may also use nearby annexes. The world famous Victoria and Albert, Natural History and Science Museums are just minutes away and beautiful Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace are at the end of the street. The area has many shops, bars and restaurants and is close to the famous shopping areas of Knightsbridge and the King’s Road.

For students on One-to-One courses, there is a dedicated executive area on the top floor of the building, reached by a lift.

End of Course Certificate and Report At the end of the course, students receive a Frances King certificate, showing the length of the course and the language level achieved.

For company personnel and students on One-to-One courses, we can also provide a written progress report (on request) and recommendations for continued English learning and development.

Your teacher will work closely with you to assess progress and reassess needs and objectives during the course.

A One-to-One programme will quickly improve your general or specialised English and we can cater for many professional areas, including sales and marketing, finance, law and management.

We can also help you to prepare for business presentations, negotiations or meetings, and develop key communication skills such as telephoning, business correspondence and report writing. We also offer CV, interview and examination preparation.

One-to-Two Courses

These courses are for two friends, colleagues or family members with the same level of English who wish to study together.

One-to-One 9 Day Immersion Courses n Suitable for business people with an urgent language learning need n Study over two weekends and the week in between – only one week away from work n Courses reflect your specific learning needs and objectives and your professional field This course is for busy business and professional people who have an urgent language learning need, such as preparing for a presentation, a conference, negotiations or meetings abroad.

This course takes place over two weekends and the week in between. Lunch is also taken with a teacher. Participants should arrive on a Friday and be ready for classes to start on the following Saturday, but the programme can be adapted to suit the individual.

Weekends and out of hours

We are able to arrange One-to-One and Oneto-Two lessons at weekends and out of normal school hours both at school and other central London addresses such as a hotel or office.

One-to-One Trainers

All Frances King trainers are degree educated and have a teaching qualification, in addition to many years’ experience both in teaching English and in the business and professional world. Teachers are trained to teach all levels of English and focus on the diverse needs of their students. They are adept at identifying and meeting your language needs. Trainers may also have the London Chamber of Commerce Certificate in Teaching English for Business and a degree in a specialist subject, for example in, law, management and marketing.

One-to-One courses are completely tailormade and you will need to complete the online test and assessment before the course starts. You will also be sent a Needs Analysis Form, allowing you to specify your needs and objectives. This also helps us to select a teacher to suit your individual requirements.

Club 8 Intensive English

The course focuses on achieving confident and effective spoken English for your everyday social, study or work needs. You will also develop your pronunciation and grammar, together with reading and writing skills.

Club 8 Business English

This course complements the Club 8 Intensive English course above. The confidence-building business element of the course focuses on language skills for the business world, including telephoning, negotiating, attending meetings, giving presentations and writing reports and email. Business vocabulary for areas such as marketing, finance, management, e-commerce and social English for everyday business life, is also covered.

Club 8 Combination Course

CLUB 8 SUMMER COURSES Club 8 Intensive and Social English

This course combines Club 8 Intensive English with Social English – language for everyday social or work life, including meeting people, travelling and telephoning.

Club 8 Young Executive

The course focuses on language skills for the business world, including telephoning, negotiating, attending meetings, writing reports and email and making a presentation. Business vocabulary for areas such as marketing, finance, management, e-commerce and social English for everyday business life, is also covered.

Club 8 Young Lawyer

This course is designed for law students or recently qualified lawyers and focuses on the language skills needed for communication in a legal setting. Legal vocabulary for both criminal and civil law is covered. You may visit the Old Bailey or another court. You can also prepare for the TOLES or ILEC examinations.

Homestay (A7-A14, B7-B11) Available all year

Quality Rating: HHH & HHHH n The most economical way of staying in London, with home cooking, the opportunity to practise your English and comfortable surroundings. Homestays are located in good residential areas in zones 1, 2 and 3, travel time of 25-40 minutes (and possibly longer during the summer months) by public transport to the school. n Single and twin rooms in superior homestays and single rooms in executive homestays with a range of meal plans: bed & breakfast, half-board (breakfast and dinner) and 4 dinner plan (breakfast every day and evening meal 4 times per week).
