Christophe Gevers was, between 1960 and 1993, professor at the «école nationale supérieure des arts visuels” in La Cambre, following at the same time his activiy as an interior architect and creating in his designer’s work a number of outstanding objects in the fields of furniture and lighting. Each one of his concepts is based on a very exact and detailed research on function and shape. Antoine Callebaut has worked many years together with the famous architect Jules Wabbes. Upon Wabbes’ death, in 1978, he took up his legacy founding the “Atelier Callebaut”, rapidly achieving success with his bronze sandcast creations. As Antoine Callebaut passed away in 2010 Viviane and André Vossen bought “Atelier Callebaut” that was later integrated in the Axis71 collection. Many artists worked together with Antoine Callebaut in his factory, the “Atelier”, like André Jacqmain, the interior architect, Jan Vlug, and the landscape architect Jacques Wirtz, who especially loved Callebaut’s “Borne” model, a true example of functional craftmanship.

FLOOR
Born in Como in 1947, Carlo Forcolini graduated with a diploma in Fine Art at the Brera Accademy in Milan. Since 1969 he has worked as a designer and entrepreneur, taking part in the foundation of Alias, Nemo, Oylight where he has also been Managing Director and Art Director. Since January 2012 he is Vice Chairman of IED, “Istituto European Design”, one of the most important private institutions in Europe teaching Design, Fashion, Communication and Visual Arts. He lives and works in Milan, Italy.

Tobia Scarpa (Venice 1935) works in the field of architecture and design. Graduated at the University of Venice in 1969, in that same year he won, for the first time, the prestigious “Compasso d’Oro” Award with his Soriana chair. He taught at the Faculty of Design and Arts in Venice between 2002 and 2011. In 2012 the Museum of Decorative Arts in Bordeaux organized the exhibition on Carlo and Tobia Scarpa works called “Dialogo sospeso” (Suspended Dialog). Some of his works are on display in the world’s most important museums, including the “Libertà” (Freedom) chair at the Louvre, in Paris.
