Recognising Achievement

Success in sport is celebrated at Tanglin and we recognise the individual achievements of those students who achieve excellence in their chosen field.

Our framework for recognising achievements is tailored to the different ages of children. Junior and Middle School students are awarded certificates for their breadth of participation and commitment, while Senior School students can achieve Colours for their level of performance and successful modelling of the Tanglin values of respect, responsibility and purpose.

Upper School Colours

Upper School Colours are awarded to students who have consistently represented the first team in their chosen sport, demonstrating outstanding commitment to sport in the Upper School.

Colours

Full Colours are awarded to students in the Sixth Form who demonstrate exceptional commitment to the sporting life of Tanglin. Recipients will have modelled Tanglin values and played a key role in their team throughout the season.

First team players can be awarded Colours, whilst all others can receive Half Colours.

Honours

A smaller group of students will be eligible for Honours each year. Recipients of these awards will not only demonstrate significant commitment to Tanglin sport but will also achieve success on a national or international level.

Swimming and Gymnastics

Tanglin runs highly successful Swimming and Gymnastics programmes from Infant through to Senior School. Supported by teams of full-time specialist coaches, a number of our most talented young athletes have achieved national honours and titles.

Infant Sport

Tanglin Infants have the opportunity to experience a range of sporting activities in an atmosphere of creativity, enjoyment and personal development. Our programme is tailored to establish confident, skilful movers, who are well equipped with fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, catching and throwing. As they move through their early years, our Infant children develop more complex, sport specific skills in activities which are developmentally appropriate and foster a joy in being active.

In Years 3 and 4, children are introduced to the many benefits of friendly competition through participation in House Sport events and multi-team festivals which compliment their weekly sessions. With swim galas and gymnastics showcase events also giving children their chance to shine, we aim to support our budding young athletes with developmentally appropriate competition.

In Years 5 and 6, children enjoy a comprehensive schedule of weekly training and activities with further competitive opportunities, which includes an extensive interschool programme of fixtures and events in the Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS).
