The mood bored for my parachute pant project.

• What is gorpcore? “Gorpcore is essentially wearing traditionally functional and utilitarian outdoor wear outside of their intended use,”
• I chose to do this style of clothing as I like how it looks a lot. I love the controversy of it
• It has came in and out of fashion over the past years,, but now it has hit its peak again with becoming one of the latest fashion trends.
• Gorpcore clothing is mostly outerwear and winter wear.
Consisting off windbreakers, baggy parachute pants, waterproof coats etc from brands like Arc'teryx...
• A lot of shoe brands are involved with gorpcore too such as New Balance, Salomon, COMME des GARÇONS, Fear of God Essentials etc.
• Brands such as The North Face, Columbia, Patagonia
• The style consists off of hiking shoes, boots, fleeces and cargo pants.
This is the colour palette for the designs I have been doing, I chose to go with grey and darker tones as I like the concept of how it looked with my design ideas.
I decided to do a range of different digital designs as I love doing them I designed a Arc'teryx jacket and a star studded belt.
My puffer jacket design in different colour ways as I wanted to expand my idea and see how it would look in opposite colour ways.
• This puffer jacket that I designed was inspired from CP company goggle jacket
• I had liked the look of the CP Company jacket and decided that is something I am interested in designing
• The body of this jacket was inspired by the moncler web jacket( I was a fan of how the jacket dropped and I wanted to include that in my design).
CP Company puffer jacket with my inspired goggle hood design. The parachute pants that are show here are the ones I actually turned out to make ( the left pair) I went ahead with the blue colour way and the final out come of the pants are reversible as I decided I wanted to make a cool piece and I thought that idea went well with what I was going for.
• colour palettes for both designs
: the garments ill be making will consist off of leather. In two different tones which will be grey and black
I am working based around these two shades as I am doing a style called gorpcore, this term originally comes from (What is gorpcore? “Gorpcore is essentially wearing traditionally functional and utilitarian outdoor wear outside of their intended use,” explains stylist and creative director Todd Johnson. Think hiking boots, fleeces and cargo pants)
All of the clothing pieces named above are usually very mid dull colours. My vision was to incorporate the meaning of the term with the colours that would make sense of it.
I chose to do Diesel as a branded choice as I love their clothing and they’re a unique looking brand .. I would most definitely work with Diesel as I have always been drawn to them and they’re quite controversial and they have a unisex range which I love personally as I don’t think that clothes should have a gender…
They work with a lot of celebrities and do a lot of campaigns with other brands such as Balenciaga which I would also say I am interested in. they also did collab with h&m which I found was quite interesting as they’re a low price high street brand
Balmain style is quite similar to what I wear as in the style of clothing I choose, as I go for more outer crowd wear to be different
I have always had a like for the Diesel brand as they’re around a lot also on celebrities. Diesel target audience would definitely be men and women … kids not so much. Id say the average age range around would be ages 16-60 as the clothing is quite bold and out there but also smart and neat looking. I would be well suited with this brand as they work collectively with everything I would work with going from
•Colour
•Pattern
•Designs
•Structure
The way they advertise the brand is very good. Diesel is a very good brand as their clothing is very out there which also could get people out of their comfort zone..
The fabric choice for the grey area would be grey denim and the black areas would be leather.
For my design here I decided to add a diesel pouch as well as design a diesel style puffer jacket.
This illustration would be made with grey denim for the fabric of the puffer and black leather sleeves
Diesel bag design that can attach and detach from jacket.
I have uploaded a sample here of the type of denim that would be used
This design was one of my favourites to work on I had fun making it and looking further into diesel and how everything works for them and their Industry. I learnt things about the brand during my studies of making this coat design. Which had just extended my knowledge more
• Another diesel puffer jacket but this time I decided to add a collaboration of Balmain
• Balmain usually has big stand out garments which I tried to bring into these designs
• I wanted to bring together all different streetwear brands and see what I could do.
• I’m very happy with how the designs worked out in the end and I have plans on making one of these in the nearer future.
As I was going on with the diesel design I decided that I wanted to do a distressed balaclava. With this I went ahead with fine liner and got all the knit details in as I also had started that on the pants as you can see in the other picture. This process took a while but the ending outcome came out very well. I loved how all the little details made it look like a unique piece
I had the decided I wanted to do something more feminine and went on to design a corset.
This piece of work is a design and sample in one as I had actually got a piece of leather that I would initially use to design the actual piece, with this work I had sewn the zipper to the fabric.
The fabrics at the side was kind of a inspiration to what I would actually use in the final making
With my idea board I decided I wanted to add in a superhero aesthetic
With this idea I went on with adding batwoman as she wears tight black clothing and I thought the two ideas of a corset and her fitting together.
With this project we had to take inspiration from the sculptures. The one we liked to turn into a garment idea. I also incorporated Paul smiths work into this too.
I had used Annie Morris “when a happy thing falls” I got this inspiration from her expedition at yorkshire sculpture park , Paul smith work was also part of this design as I went to see his expedition too at the castle In nottingham. Seeing his work upfront on display and seeing how much effort was put into his expedition made me want to explore further with his designs
I had decided to change my lineup and add different outfits in as you can see in both images.
A couple of my jean designs were stacked pants or baggy
A like a lot of punk fashion and I had noticed a lot of stack pants were part of that fashion so I wanted to make my own I think stacks are a very good fashion piece as they give of a unique look I was able to design these with my own personal liking which I had fun doing Dragon design
Some samples of the zips I would use for these jeans.
With these designs here we had to pick a topic that we wanted to work on and I had picked the 90s I love the 90s era I am a big fan. A lot of my outfits are inspired from that era I love the look of baggy pants etc
My inspirations for these designs were from Evisu with all the pockets on the back and I also took inspiration from skater and carpenter jeans.
After designing these jeans I had then actually made them and they turned out great
The designs that are shown here was inspired form when we had went to the contemporary gallery Nottingham.. The exhibition that was on at the time was call “Wet spells” I remember seeing everything from this exhibition and loving the vibes of it all. It was something very different to what i have seen before I had taken inspiration from the meanings and stuff of this and put it into my own design which I had turned into a graphic long-sleeve I enjoy this project a lot and I took a lot of time on this.
• I had made this denim tote bag at home. I tend to do a lot of designs and garment making in my home life too. I love reworking stuff and giving stuff a new life.
• This is one of my favorite things I have made and many others loved this piece too! I had made thus by reworking old jeans and turning them into a distressed tote bag.. In total I had made 3 of these, a black one and two dark denim ones
• I love getting creative and trying new ideas of garments etc
