When an adult child violates our values, makes poor choices, or gets in deep trouble, we often question our parenting abilities.

Our doubts shout at us: Was it something I did?

Would this have happened if I’d been a better parent?

Would this have happened if I had been more spiritual, or if we had prayed more as a family?

Would this have happened if my marriage hadn’t failed?

Would this have happened if we hadn’t argued so much?

The what-ifs can paralyze our souls and wreak havoc on our confidence as parents. One of the greatest heartbreaks for a parent is watching a child waste his or her life, potential, or opportunities with poor choices.

One woman once said,, “I’ve been through a lot of pain in my life, but I’ve never felt heartbreak like I have through the poor choices of my kids.” I’m sure Rebecca felt this way: When your young-adult kids have serious adult-sized problems, the kind that can derail a healthy and productive life, your heart may break, but your child’s choices don’t have to break you. Your child’s regrettable decisions do not make you a bad parent.

Even good parents have children who make poor choices. It may be too late for prevention, but it’s never too late for redemption.

Miracles do happen. Sometimes they take the form of a rapid change, but most times they are a slow climb toward a better life.

The journey hasn’t been easy but it has been worth it. I want to acknowledge my amazing mentor. Mentors are people who encourage and support you. They guide you and help you to make a wise decisions.

Moreover, they help you identify your skills and encourage you to master what you are good at, Jacqueline Rocker-Brown if that doesn’t defined you to the T. Thank you for pushing me beyond all of my excuses.

I knew Tamar's story would be challenging.

So there was a lot of pressure on me to make sure this production was done with Grace and excellence.

With all the sleepless nights and consistent rehearsals, I couldn’t be more proud of the entire cast, team, musicians, singers, stage handlers, sound tech, video team, and all of you who made this all possible.

The “Me too” movement started when someone decided to speak their truth.

To every Tamar in the room, do yourself a favor and tell your story even if it’s only to free yourself.

PASTOR DEON WHITE Reverend Deon White, a native of Chicago, IL accepted his call and was vested the gift to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1988. Rev. White was a member of Home of Life Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, IL, under the leadership of Rev. Johnny Henderson. Rev. White preached his first sermon in 1990, after sitting under his pastor and attending several biblical classes to further his training and teaching. Rev. Deon White received his license to preach in 1993 and was ordained in 2001

by Pastor Johnny Henderson, where he served faithfully as an associate minister.

At the age of 29, he was commissioned to serve as interim pastor for Greater Shiloh Baptist Church Chicago, IL. During his tenure there the Lord added more than 100 members to the ministry and later they were able to make a smooth transition when the ministry appointed a permanent pastor.

After his interim tenure at Greater Shiloh, Pastor White accepted the call to Pastor Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Within the first 3 years of service, God allowed the ministry to grow from 125 to over 300 members.

On one Sunday, the church received 55 new converts for the Lord.

Over the course of several years at GMP, the membership had grown to over 1000 souls. Under Pastor White’s leadership and ultimately the grace of God, several ministries were birthed within the church; a praise team that went on to record 13 songs, praise dancers, intercessory team, drama ministry, women's ministry, men's ministry, youth choir, adult choir, as well as others.

In January 2009, Pastor White’s tenure with Greater Mt. Pleasant was complete and he resigned. Although sadness was in his heart, he had to be obedient and follow the voice of the Lord.

Since that time, Rev. Deon White has been listening to the voice of the Lord and has followed the guidance of the Lord to organize Anointed Birth Ministries.

Anointed Birth is a new age ministry rooted and grounded in the Word of God and with Jesus as the foundation, it will continue to grow. Rev. Deon White served at Anointed Birth Ministries for 6 years before an unfortunate incident happened and Rev Deon White had to undergo surgery on both knees. Being unable to walk, Rev. Deon White had no other choice but to close the doors to Anointed Birth Ministries for recovery purposes.

On October 29, 2017, Rev. Deon White was appointed Pastor of the Light House Baptist Church. Rev. Deon White is honored to carry on the work of the Kingdom, as well as the vision of Light House that was set forth by the honorable Bishop Jerry D. Goodloe.

It is by faith, determination, discipline, and dedication, Rev Deon White has taken on the assignment to present the Glory of the Lord in the Spirit of Excellence throughout the world.Pastor White’s formal education was received from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL and Triton College, River Grove, IL. Pastor White received his ministry training at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago IL., and GMOR Bible Institute, Northwestern, IN, under the leadership of Dr. Carl Davis. He studied Theology and experienced some of the best training in seminary.

Pastor White was also an active member of the Westside Minister’s Association, under the leadership of Pastor George Henderson.

Rev. White is still a student of the word and to the Elders in the gospel who are preaching and teaching the unadulterated word of God! He continues to seek counsel first and always from the Lord! Pastor White believes and often quotes this phrase “Everything I was, everything I am, and everything I will become is simply because God favors my life”.

KHALEEL HAWKINS IS 26 YEARS OLD, FROM CHICAGO ILLINOIS. FROM A VERY YOUNG AGE, HIS LARGE IMAGINATION AND CREATIVITY BECAME NOTICEABLE FROM HIS FAMILY AND TEACHERS. HE SPENT A LOT OF HIS TIME DRAWING AND WRITING STORIES. GROWING UP WATCHING RERUNS OF WILL SMITH ON FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR SPARKED SOMETHING IN KHALEEL THAT HAS STUCK WITH HIM. THROUGH THE YEARS KHALEEL HAS MADE A SOLID EFFORT TO MAKE HIS DREAM COME TRUE OF BECOMING AN ACTOR/FILMMAKER. THE ABILITY TO MAKE PEOPLE SMILE, LAUGH, THINK, CRY, AND INSPIRE YOUNG AFRICAN- AMERICANS THROUGH THE WORK HE PRODUCES IS SOMETHING HE’S DREAMT OF HIS ENTIRE LIFE, HE HAS JUST STARTED HIS FILM COMPANY AND PLANS ON HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING WITH MULTIPLE UPCOMING PROJECTS. Kiera Edwards is an inspiration to anyone who feels as if they’ve been counted out. Determined “Least Likely To Succeed”, she became a divorced, single mother of 4 at the age of 27.

Kiera was forced to rebuild a safe, stable and loving environment for her children from nothing. Motivated by her love for her children and desire to give them the best life possible, Kiera began her journey as a bus operator for Pace and has since ventured of into theatrical plays, starring in 6 stage plays to date. She is also a certified Relationship Coach and owner, alongside her husband Johnathan Edwards Sr., of Money Cutz Barbershop located in Joliet,IL. If Kiera could leave you with a word of encouragement, it would be to love hard, invest into yourself and your character, give cheerfully, stay committed to the assignment and never stop believing. “When you take care of God’s people, He’ll take care of you!”

Jerry Herron Jerry "Jay" Herron is a newcomer on the acting scene, but a long-time lover of the arts. As a musician (Saxophonist) growing up in Joliet IL. Jay has been involved in many musical productions and performances.

After hosting a family event attended by Trarina Paige, Paige took note of his natural improv comedy ability and encouraged him to pursue acting. This is now Jay's second project with Paige, with more on the way.

So get ready to laugh and enjoy the character of James Westinghouse but please remember the name ... Jerry "Jay" Herron in the words of the Carpenters “He’s only just begun”.

Sandra McBride has appeared in over several films, television, commercials and theatre productions. You may have seen her in Chicago PD, 61st Street, Big Leap and a Humana commercial to name just a few.

Sandra’s ability to capture the hearts of the audience at that moment has been recognized by directors and casting agents.

Sandra studied with (Jossie Thucker) at the Respect for Acting Acadmey, (Harold Dennis) Second City Chicago Monologue & Director (John Swanbeck's )Cinematic Experience. She is native of Chicago Illinois.
