INTERIOR RENDERING REVIT/ENSCAPE

This project is an interior renovation in an existing eleven story commercial office building in South Lake Union, Seattle. This refresh includes a new coffee shop and lobby space on the first floor, a new alternate workspace on the ninth floor, and typical space modifications in the kitchenettes and shared services spaces on all floors. Art gallery is the concept chosen for this building to celebrate its already playful and creative use of finishes. With the use of environmental graphics and thoughtful architectural shapes and smart material choices, our team was able to create beautiful and creative designs to inspire the buildings tenants.

Our team was able to collaborate with an outside community arts group that had created a large amount of sustainability-themed graphic panels to beautify the construction sound wall during the construction of the Climate Pledge Arena in the center of Seattle. These panels were offered to us to reuse in our project to celebrate the arts and have another sense of community within the workplace environment. We chose to build these stacked box sculptures to showcase these panels and to give the illusion of them being able to spin around like a toy and bring an element of playfulness. These panels are refurbished and protected with a coating to withstand the weather elements out of the roof deck on this building.

N ORTH CASCADES BANK DYKEMAN ARCHITECTS

EXTERIOR RENDERING REVIT/PHOTOSHOP

Located in Chelan, WA, North Cascades Bank’s main branch is looking for a revitalization of their brand to fit the needs of the new clients while staying accessible to their loyal local customers. This exterior palette reflect its surroundings taking reference from the sedimentary layers of the neighboring mountains. The interior palette and design reflects the original branding with a modern touch and asymmetrical geometric patterns reminiscent of the natural surroundings of Chelan once more. This new space will accommodate all new technology to attract a younger demographic along with adequate space for old record storage. The warmth of the first floor along with its large storefront windows will provide a more comfortable experience for first-time home buyers and other transactions that may take place on this floor. The second floor serves as additional office space and meeting rooms for the branch employees and is designed with future proofing in mind.

The third floor community space provides a wide range of workstations, small gathering spaces, and private areas to pick and choose from depending on the users needs with access to an outdoor deck for closer views of Lake Chelan.

The first floor of this 3 story building will serve as the retail/transaction section of North Cascades Bank. The main entry doors open up to an open floor plan, warm finishes and high ceilings showcase the cross laminated timber structure and building systems. The private offices are designed to be stand alone cubes to leave the ceiling unobstructed as possible. The second floor is used as administrative offices, with a large conference room, call center, and training center. This floor is connected with a west facing glazed corridor for employees to enjoy grand views of the lake.

The third floor is divided into a rentable community workspace, gym, breakroom, and two decks for gatherings on sunny days.

LD YA KE STEVENS HIGH SCHOOL KEMAN ARCHITECTS

Lake Stevens High School is a phased project intended to modernize and expand the high school campus to enable alternative learning and assembly spaces. The improvements take place on the current high school site while the campus is operational, it is the only high school in the Lake Stevens School District.

The scope of this project includes replacement and expansion of selected buildings, modernization of the entire campus, and construction of new learning spaces for general education, special education, music, science, and athletics. The design goals for this project were to have more of a physical connection on campus between buildings, maximize daylighting, create a vibrant non-sterile interior environment to spark creativity, and have a strong Viking Pride presence. This project also had sustainability goals including meeting the 2015 Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol, encouraging a connection to the natural environment and supporting the Lake Stevens School Districts’ resource conservation goals.

This three-building utility complex for the City of Canby, Oregon is composed of one administrative building, one warehouse/ storage building, and the other serving as truck bays. Interiors focused mainly on the adminstrative building and created a spacious and practical essential facility for their current staff and the many more they will be hiring in the near future. I had the chance to work directly with our director of design and a senior designer to create a cohesive design that will make the interiors stand out as more than just a utility facility.

PHASED CODE PLANS: NTS REVIT

This building was divided into two separate phases due to budget constrictions. Creating not only a phased Revit model, but also coming up with different solutions for the client to review and select from depending on funds, was both challenging and very educational. Option One would build the left office portion of the building with a temporary exterior wall.

Option Two is very similar but it also i ncludes the shell and main interior walls of the right side of the building. Option Three would build the entire building all at once.

These phases required multiple code analysis and many multi-discipline meetings and guidelines.

Looking at the exterior of the building, one can see the relationship between heavy masses and thin frames, such as the entry canopy and the CMU block mass to its’ side both working together leading your eye to the entrance. Taking this same concept into the historical wall and reception wall is done by material transitions and offsets. The charcoal greys being the heavy masses and frames to surround the main focus being the bench and the historical images.

REFLECTED CEILING PLAN

This project was given to us for our senior project and was enterred in a competition for retail stores. Our goal was to create a brand and have the physical space we create reflect it. The storefront has a very clean and simple look to reflect the luxury of the store and products inside. The pop of color is eye-catching to pedestrians walking on the street.

The layered masses relate to the concept of skins & diversity appealing to all types of cultures and backgrounds. The glass storefront will let natural light in as well as invite in the window shoppers.

The different ceiling planes add interest and a human scale to the otherwise blank fifteen feet tall ceiling. Utilizing lighting and key material changes within these levels refers back to the concept of SKINS and diversity. The interior design of SKINS is meant to stimulate the senses with smells and interesting visuals. The wood, concrete, and metal give it a raw natural look while retaining its polished and clean environment. The lighting in this store is 100% LED and adjustable. Interactive technology will be available to customers to check their purchase history and gain further knowledge of the product on the SKINS website.

URBAN PARKS - PARK(ING) DAY 2019 A small team volunteered from Dykeman Architects to create this installation for Everett’s second ever participation in Park(ing) Day. We were very excited to construct something for the city to experience and to showcase our work and represent our firm. As the leader of this collaborative crew, I helped us stay on track, came up with quick solutions and communicated with the City and our donors.Our design concept grew from conversing with the Everett community about this day and their vision and wanting interactivity, security and sustainability as our main goals. To keep it simple, we decided to create a large information stand for passerby’s to quickly understand what these installations are for and what they are trying to accomplish. Participants had to create their versions of their perfect Urban Park by drawing or writing on our reused plywood walls and leaving their mark. Tubes from our printers as well as a local print ship were made into seats and reused plywood from a local school under construction was used as our chalkboards. As a finishing touch, plants were given away to participants as a thank you.
