A new sonar acquired by the Alexander City Tallapoosa County Rescue Squad aided in the recovery of a suicide victim Friday on Lake Martin. The Alexander City Police Department responded to a call of person near the Elkahatchee Bridge near Wind Creek State Park and the rescue squad quickly put its boats in the water. The boats are equipped with a small sonar and did initially locate him. “They found him but when they turned around, they couldn’t find him again,” Alex City Rescue Squad’s Jerry Whetstone said.
