Erin McMichen, Haley Browning and Nigia Harkins talk with other BRHS students about the Medical Domains Academy and entering the nursing field through the school’s new Career Acadamies program.
Dozens of ninth-grade students milled from booth to booth and talked with their peers from one of the eight respective career domains in the Career Academy. Some had set up elaborate replicas of a scenario they might encounter in their field. There were a number of displays from the disciplines represented in the Medical Domain Academy. Students had set up a mock pharmacy counter, and were dressed in lab coats and medical attire. While just to their left a group wearing full scrubs stood around
a hospital bed and tended to a “wounded” patient, while other “non-working” students stood by watching and waiting to ask questions about the industry. On the opposite side of the gymnasium a whole different scene was playing out with rifle-spinning, lock-stepping ROTC students in full ornate military garb. They performed in a section just across from booths of law enforcement-minded students and the real officers accompanied who them. It constituted the wing of Justice See EXPO • Page 3
