Police investigate Spring Hill murder Investigators say they are closing in on a suspect in the case By MITCH SNEED Editor
Alexander City Police are investigating an early Sunday morning shooting that has left a Coosa County man dead. Chief Willie G. Robinson said that units were called to the 2100 block of County Road at 3:36 a.m. Sunday in reference to shots fired.
When officers arrived they found 28-year-old LaBrandon Lamar Herron of Coosa County Road 91 in Kellyton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead. “Right now we are considering at every possibility and are looking into possible motives and have identified a person of interest in the case,” Robinson said. “We are looking at all sce-
narios and tracking down every bit of information that we have at this time. It’s too early to say what the connection between the victim and those involved may be.” While no arrest has been made, Alexander City Police Department Detective Division Commander Lt. James Easterwood said investigators See MURDER • Page 8

The vehicle involved was described as a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, and the location of the collision was reported to be somewhere along Chambers County 62. The teenager was pronounced dead at East Alabama Medical Center, according to the report. The incident was the latest in a spate of ATV-related deaths around the area. The Tallapoosa County Board of Education will hold a work session today to discuss some capital projects – some of which already appear to be underway. County school officials have been using a new sales tax to reach state mandated reserve levels. With that level close, the board had been looking at projects to fund with that money. Board member Randy Anderson raised concerns at the Oct. 17 meeting that the board was not aware of all the projects. “We had discussed the Phase 1 projects and have pretty much come to an agreement on those,” Anderson said Monday. “The Phase 2 projects though, we have never talked about those.” Phase 1 projects include new visitor bleachers at the Dadeville High School football stadium, a HVAC system at the Horseshoe Bend School kitchen, lights at the Reeltown High School football field and metal roofing for the band room, concession stand and pavilion at Horseshoe Bend. The Alabama Building Commission has approved the plans for these projects and the board is using architect McKey and Associate. A request for bids was advertised in early October with a bid deadline of Oct. 27. A batting cage project for the softball See EDUCATION • Page 8

Congressman Mike Rogers spoke with the Alexander City Rotary Club Monday explaining how he thought things would go in Washington depending on who is elected President one week from today. “If Trump is elected, the first thing you will see is the repeal of Obamacare,” Rogers said. “Then you will see an increase in defense spending.” Rogers also said some of the first things voters would see following a Donald Trump inauguration would be a conservative appointment to the Supreme Court and many of the executive orders signed by President Barack Cliff Williams / The Outlook Obama undone.
