A black panther has Dadeville residents abuzz By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer

Is a big black cat roaming the woods around Dadeville? Some residents think so and have called the Dadeville Police Department about it. “I have had a few reports in Dadeville about seeing one,â€? Dadeville Police Chief David Barbour said. “But no one has a picture or video of it.â€? There are also no laws governing the hunting of blank panthers because there is no belief they are in Alabama. Ivy Creek Healthcare rebrands hospice care By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer

It has been around for years as Lake Martin Hospice under the management of Mike Bruce and Ivy Creek Healthcare, but it’s now Ivy Creek Hospice. The rebranding is in an effort to let everyone know Ivy Creek Hospice’s area covers seven counties – Tallapoosa, Coosa, Clay, Chambers, Elmore, Lee and Macon from its locations in Dadeville and Wetumpka. “A lot of people say Lake Martin Hospice but did not realize we serviced their area,â€? Local Realtor has licenses revoked Alabama Real Estate Commission also fined Langston for handling of funds

A Dadeville native who is making a big name for himself in the entertainment industry will be back in the area this weekend for two special performances.

A Dadeville man was quickly apprehended Wednesday morning after breaking into a home. Dadeville Police Chief David Barbour said Demarcus Tyrone Lockhart, 20, of Dadeville was arrested and charged with burglary second degree and theft. “The guy broke into a house and didn’t realize someone was home,� Barbour Lockhart said. “A resident in the home recognized him.� Barbour said officers got the call about 4:40 a.m. Wednesday and responded to a victim who was able to provide a description. Lockhart was in custody a short time later. “When officers found out who it was, they went to his house,� Barbour said. “He was in custody at 5:23 a.m.� Officials are looking to see if this incident is connected to a string of similar burglaries in the area. Lockhart was still being held in the Tallapoosa County Jail Wednesday afternoon on a $35,000 bond.

The Tallapoosa County Local Emergency Planning Committee will be holding a disaster drill in Dadeville Wednesday to prepare for a possible emergency in the future. According to Tallapoosa County EMA Director Jason Moran, the exercise will involve multiple agencies responding to a scenario in the vicinity of School Street and North Spring Street in Dadeville.
