Dadeville man arrested for violating sex offender act STAFF REPORT TPI Staff
A Dadeville man has been arrested in an eight-state child sexual exploitation investigation. Bobby Guy of Dadeville was arrested for violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, also known as SORNA, which is part of a comprehensive federal law that requires states to maintain a system for monitoring and tracking convicted sex offenders following their release into the community. Along with Guy, 11 other individuals were arrested and four children were rescued or identified as victims of child sexual exploitation. Operation Southern Impact II, which focused on individuals who sexually exploit children by using the internet, was a joint effort consisting of 10 Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Forces tasked with combating the sexual exploitation of children. Fountain from Arizona courthouse plaza arrives in Alexander City By DONALD CAMPBELL Staff Writer
Road projects dominate the agenda for Monday evening’s meeting of the Alexander City City Council, as the contract for a long list of city paving projects and a change in pricing for a road that makes for easy navigation of the old Russell complex will be considered. The city released a list of paving projects that will be funded by the half-cent sales tax for roads this year in February. The half-cent sales tax has been named the Alexander City Road Improvement Project or ACRIP and all the money is earmarked for road paving and road improvement projects. The tax generates about $1.15 million each year. It has given the city the ability to get some asphalt work done without having to go in debt. The planned 2018 projects are 9th Avenue, 14th Avenue, Alford Drive, Arrowhead Loop, C Place, Cemetery, Central Avenue, Central Avenue Circle, Charlotte Lane, Meadows Street, Montezuma Drive, Patterson Street, R Street, Seven Bark Trail, South Franklin Street, Turner Road, Turtleneck Road, U Street, Willow
