Bear again seen in Tallapoosa County that was here late last month. Candis Birchfield and her 4-year-old daughter Mary Alice watched in amazement as the bear that stood more than 6 feet tall on his back legs shook the seed from the feeder and then laid on the ground to chow down between 7 and 8 a.m. Wednesday. “I casually looked out my kitchen window like I do every morning to watch the birds, and See BEAR • Page ??

We have a plan going forward. And we are not going to let the job creation and economic development stop.” Part of that plan is to protect the See WHATLEY • Page 3

Charmika Reynolds is the kind of person who can’t stand to see another person struggle. That desire to help others has led the Alexander City resident to start an outreach ministry called Heavenly Missions in hopes of helping those facing difficult times get back on solid ground. “There are so many people who need help, but often they don’t know where to turn,” Reynolds said. “In the space of about a month about four years ago, I had several conversations with people who found themselves in situations where they felt like there was nowhere to turn. Most of them were temporary problems, but they just were overwhelmed and didn’t know where to go or anyone who could help.” From that realization, Reynolds took it upon herself to get involved and find a way to help anyone she could. She helped one family find furniture, another clothes after they had lost most of their belongings and a young mother get a month’s supply of diapers to help her get through a rough financial time after See MISSION • Page 3
