Law enforcement and emergency medical personnel have been forced to deal with at least nine adverse reactions to what law enforcement investigators are calling a bad synthetic marijuana over the last week. The most recent “overdose� came Tuesday afternoon outside Koons III convenience store off
Jefferson Street. Sgt. Fred White of the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force said that the two most recent incidents came Saturday and Tuesday. While most incidents have involved individuals in the same general area, Saturday’s incident involved a man who lived on Worthy Road. “It’s just been crazy in terms of the numbers,� White said.
“We saw three or four in one day alone. They’ve slowed down some, this is still a very active investigation and we are working to identify the source of this stuff and do what we can to get it out of circulation.â€? The drug is a combination of herbs and synthetic chemicals, which are changed continually by manufacturers trying to stay a step ahead of law enforcement See OVERDOSE • Page A3

Investigators with the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s help in finding the man suspected of breaking into a Dadeville area drug store early Monday morning. According to a release from Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett, a man described as white male broke into Jim’s Pharmacy located on County Road 34 in the strip mall area next to Store 19 at about 3:35 a.m. Monday. Camp Hill murder, robbery probes continue By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer
Authorities are still investigating and searching for suspects in a murder and robbery in Camp Hill last week. “We are still working on those,� Camp Hill Police Chief Johnny Potts said. The silence of the small town was shattered Christmas morning as more than 15 gunshots rang out on Martin Luther King Boulevard where Bessie Heard, 59, of Camp Hill was killed.
