Have a dream of opening your own business in a historic downtown district? Main Street Alexander City is again hosting a competition that can help the winner get a leg up and make that vision a reality. Putting the idea in motion. There is something about writing it down that makes it even more real.” To enter you must complete an application that includes an executive summary, a business model, a financial plan, a management plan, a marketing plan, See MISSING • Page 3

Judge Kim Taylor Thursday signed an order that will allow Matthew Clate McDaniel to be free on bond awaiting trial for the Jan. 17, 2016 murder of Norman Dean Crayton. Taylor’s order doesn’t make freedom easy, setting a long list of bond conditions that McDaniel must be adhered to or he will be returned to jail until his trial. McDaniel has remained in the Tallapoosa County Jail since a $250,000 bond was revoked after he ran into some legal issues in Auburn while he was released. Taylor set bond at $350,000, $100,000 more than the previous amount. Other conditions include that See MCDANIEL • Page 3

another segment of the show. Rita Wheeles of Alexander City and a trustee with the nonprofit alumni association said the proceeds would go toward roof repairs at the school and for renovations to its gymnasium, which she said could run upwards of $20,000 - $30,000. The concert is scheduled to be held in the school’s auditorium with seating for about 420. Wheeles said she hopes all of the seats are filled. She said one of the singers, Dianne Merrill, was a graduate of Benjamin Russell High School and had spent time performing in Nashville. Wheeles said Kevin Moon was touring and recently released a new album, and also had local ties announcing early morning radio on Kowaliga Country 97.5 in Alexander City. See TWITTY • Page 3
