27-year-old man shot to death in his home Wednesday morning
New Site town leaders spent nearly a half hour in executive session consulting the town attorney Tuesday evening before announcing that they plan to pay overtime, including some from the past two years, to employees who have documented extra time. New Site Mayor Phil Blasingame said that while details have not been finalized, he said that they wanted to make sure that they did was legally required and morally right for the townâs employees. âItâs a situation that has been lingering out there for quite some time,â Blasingame said. Mottâs fire rekindles in new location despite cleanup efforts By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer
A new fire is burning in Dadeville near the site of a Thanksgiving Day blaze at Mottâs Woodyard. It is something that has gotten under the skin of some Dadeville residents. âI have been getting calls about smoke from residents,â Dadeville Mayor Wayne Smith said. âPeople are calling that think itâs a nuisance and more importantly we have some that already had trouble breathing calling too.â Smith said he and Dadeville Fire

Chief Keith Wilkerson have been to the site a few times to check on it. âWe rode over there Saturday and it was smoking on the other side of the track,â Smith said. âI rode over there again yesterday (Monday) and it was still smoking.â Tuesday, smoke could be seen coming from mulch piles stacked as high as 50 feet as contractors applied water to control the sub-surface fire.
