By CARMEN RODGERS Staff Writer

During Monday night’s city council meeting, Bobby Ingram, Tallassee’s water-filter plant manager, explained the cost associated with the addition of fluoride to the city’s water supply. According to Ingram, the cost of fluo-

ride use is expensive. The chemical costs close to $13,000. The tank that holds the chemical costs $22,000 and the cost to replace a tank is $10,000-$12,000. However, these chemicals last for close to three years. If these figures are segmented yearly, the cost is $3,400 a year. The life expectancy of a fluoride tank is 15-20 years. This would bring the

cost of the fluoride tank to $2,200 yearly.
