A 68-year-old man succumbed to his injuries that resulted from a rollover accident following a gravel spill on Highway 22 Thursday afternoon.
A freak accident caused by loose gravel that was spilled on the roadway has taken the life of a Coosa County man. Alexander City Police Department Sgt. Johnny Spivey confirmed Friday that Richard T. Marbury,
68, of Rockford died as a result of injuries sustained in a Thursday afternoon crash on Highway 22 East not far from the entrance to the Charles E. Bailey Sportplex. Learning the ins and outs of Medicare might strike some as a daunting task, but a specialist with a proclaimed passion for health care education is traveling through central Alabama offering free instructional classes. Benefit advisor and Medicare specialist Ellie Saul assures she keeps her classes as fun as possible. Saul said health care education is in her genes – something she inherited from a pioneering grandmother who she said founded one of the first nursing schools in South Africa. “So, it is in my blood to help educate people on healthcare,” said Saul. A routine traffic stop Thursday led to the arrest of two Dadeville residents on multiple drug charges. Officials say that Moriale Toombs, 30, of Dadeville, was arrested and charged with two Ford counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested as a result of the stop was Toombs Kenya Ford, 35, of Dadeville. Students lead state officials on Career Tech tour By CLIFF WILLIAMS Staff Writer
Students lead the way as State of Alabama Department of Education officials and others took a tour of the Edward Bell Career Technical Center (EBCTC) Friday as part of the Alabama Career and Technical Education 2017 State Tour. “We have chosen 14 of 138 systems to highlight this year,” Alabama Deputy State Superintendent of Education Dr. Phillip Cleveland said. “You have created a training center teaching students skills they need for high demand, high-wage jobs.” Students interacted with visitors explaining what they have learned at the center and what they hope to do with the

training in the future. “I have always wanted to be in law enforcement,” Dadeville High School Junior Daniel Montgomery said while giving an evidence collection demonstration learned in the forensic science program. “I like to analyze stuff and have taken a liking to the forensic stuff after learning about it.
