A group of community and business leaders were welcomed Thursday morning as the newests “scrubs” for Russell Medical.
Russell Medical CEO Jim Peace welcomed a new set of community partners Thursday morning – Scrub Partners. Peace invited several community and business leaders from the area to get information to help support Russell Medical. “We want to educate our com-
munity leaders of the importance of the community hospital,” Peace said. “If you look around the room you see leaders of this community sitting here today. We are proud that you are here to talk about Russell Medical and find out what it means to this community. There are a lot of things that are happening at Russell Medical and over the last several years. We want to give you the information you need to support

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley announced Thursday the appointment of Luther Strange to serve as Alabama’s U.S. Senator. Kiwanians in Dadeville served as a warm up for the Edward Bell Career Tech Center Thursday for next Friday’s visit from Alabama Governor Robert Bentley and State Department of Education officials. “They have picked eight sites to visit over two days,” Tallapoosa County Schools Superintendent Joe Windle said. “They want to see what we are doing here.” Windle says it’s an honor to have the governor and education officials as a guests. “It shows that we are doing

April 15 and Tax Day is rapidly approaching and some scammers are using the rush of tax season to prey on innocent victims. Some Alexander City residents have reported what appears to be a scam where callers threaten the resident saying that they owe money to the Internal Revenue Service. Alexander City Police Interim Police Chief Jay Turner said that residents need to use extreme care when getting solicitations over the phone. The calls, which in two cases were pre-recorded with a request to call back at another number, said that the return that the resident has recently filed may be “held up due to a previous tax obligation which could result in legal action.” One resident who did call back after hearing the “robo call” said the person was asking to verify address and social security number. Luckily the resident smelled a rat, hung up and called to report it. “The IRS is already going to have all of your
