Drug raid nets $8,000 in narcotics

The result of a lengthy investigation, the search warrant execution was an additional combined operation that included federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. Tallassee police have identified a possible vehicle used in the Dec. 20 robbery of Hibbett Sports on Gilmer Avenue. Investigators believe the robbery suspects were driving a Ford Crown Victoria. The vehicle is described as having black wheels and tinted windows. Police describe the three suspects as AfricanAmerican males. The first suspect is described as short, light skinned, wearing a maroon beanie, a gray hoodie and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as tall, dark skinned, wearing a hooded coat and a baseball cap with a red or orange

The McCraney-Cottle Arts Foundation will host the Missoula Children’s Theater production of “Treasure Island” at the Tallassee High School auditorium on Jan. 14 at 5:30 p.m. “Treasure Island” is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert
Louis Stevenson, published in 1883 and is traditionally considered a comingof-age story, noted for its atmosphere, characters and action. Auditions for this performance will be held on Jan. 9 at 3:30 p.m. inside the Tallassee High School auditorium. Students from

Two arrests were made during the warrant executions; however, at this time authorities are not issuing further information on the suspects as the investigations remains active.

Tallassee Mayor Johnny Hammock announced last week that the city has a new building inspector. Andy Coker will now over see the city’s building inspections to insure that the structures in the city are up to code. Coker is from Tallassee and graduated from Tallassee High School in 1993. “I am a lifelong citizen of Tallassee,” he said. “My family has deep roots in the community. Coker I have always been proud to tell people I am from Tallassee.” Coker has worked for East Alabama Telephones at Auburn University and for Sensigreen HVAC & Insulation. “I was superintendent of the insulation and the heating and air,” Coker said. Coker says he plans to bring the knowledge he has gained form both of these positions to his new position with the City of Tallassee. Tallassee police, firefighters deliver toys By CARMEN RODGERS Staff Writer
Christmas came early for a few deserving families in Tallassee. Friday morning Tallassee Police Department and Tallassee Fire Department loaded their “sleighs” with goodies for boys and girls. The two departments then split up, TPD delivered toys to children on the Eastside and TFD delivered to children
on the Westside. Together, they delivered toys to 16 families in the community. Corporal Bryan Clayton spearheaded the toy drive. Clayton has a special gift when it cones to children. He also serves as the City’s School Resource Officer and there is no doubt that he is best suited for this difficult position.
