The StillWaters Residential Association has been sued by a group of StillWaters property owners to have property returned to the association they allege was improperly sold by the association to a board member and other property owners. The suit also seeks to have the board member who benefited from the sale removed from her leadership position. Property owners Lana Williamson and Marian Edel filed suit against the association, Association Board Secretary Pamela Alexander and her husband John, Hubert and Sarah Starzer and others Dec. 1. The suit follows a board approved sale in July 2015 of lakefront property in the resort to the Alexanders and Starzers with a sale price far below market value. The deeds for the sale were recorded in December 2015 and January 2016. The Alexanders purchased .59 acres of waterfront property from the Stillwaters Residential Association in 2015 for $1,000. There was no shortage of bicycles and smiling children Tuesday night as the Masons Gibraltar Lodge No. 173 hosted local children at the Cooper Recreation Center for their annual Bike-A-Thon bike giveaway. About 250 people, including 150 or so children, were on hand as the lodge members delivered happiness on two wheels to those in attendance. The lodge has hosted a bike giveaway for Alexander City kids the last two years, but Gibraltar Lodge member David

Lee Wyckoff, who is one of the driving forces behind the program, says it never gets old. “This is the third year we’ve been doing this, but we never expected a turnout like this,” Wyckoff said. “There is nothing like seeing that smile on their face when their number is called and they pick out a bike of their own. That’s what makes it all worthwhile.” Children danced and played as the bikes were unloaded and brought into the gym. They lined up in age groups and were given tickets that were drawn at random and each winner was able to come up and pick the bike of their choice.

Even before the drawing started 3-year-old La’lana Black had to be held back from running to get on a bike. When her name was called, she sprinted and got the one she had her eye on. “I like this color,” La’lana said as she pedaled away with her mom’s help. This year there were more children than there were bikes at the event, but Wyckoff made them all a promise before they started drawing tickets. “This is a larger turnout that we anticipated, but don’t worry,” Wyckoff said. “If you don’t get a bike tonight, make sure you leave your name and information See BIKES • Page A5
