Introduction

This book is about Template Gothic and two other simolar typefaces, Helvetica and Univers that were chosen because ther are additionally, this book will talk about designer and anatomy of each typeface.

About Gothic Template Gothic designed by Barry Deck in 1989 while studying at California Institute of the Arts under artist and graphic designer Edward Fella Template gothic is un experimental, san serif type face, and it`s consider as vernacular typeface. Ms. Deck inspired the template gothic by sign in his local laundromat( which made by hand)

The Designer 5

Designer Biographyw Template gothic designed by Barry Deck in 1989 released in 1991 by ĂŠmigrĂŠ (which is a digital type foundry based in Berkeley, California. The company been found in 1984) Ms. Deck was born Mount Pleasant, Iowa, in 1962 Ms. Deck graduation from Northern Illinois University in 1986. After that he worked as a junior designer for Lipmon & Simmons in Chicago later he worked as a graphic designer for Kim Abrams Design in 1992 he moved to New York, and people had seen him as quite a radical for the somewhat conservative typeface community.

Barry Deck

Later own In 1995 he establish his own company that called Dysmedia, and worked with many famous brand such as Pepsi, Reebok and Nickelodeon

One of the wired thing about Ms. Deck childhood and adolescence that he was thinking about controlling the world domination while mowing the lawn Ms. Deck was linked with the idea of distorted typefaces, which was spread everywhere

for example it was appear in publications such as Ray Gun, EmigrĂŠ and Wired Eye which inspired him to design his own type face that later became the new wave in early 1990s

Back to 1990s templet gothic was very

famous font. It been used in different veiled and it was special appeared in Issue #19 of Emigre, designed by Rudy VanderLans, in the cover art also inside the magazine. It was used in posters and promotional material of the 1993 popular coming-of-age comedy film Dazed and Confused. Also notably used on the posters and advertising material of other films such as 1998's The Negotiator, the later on in 2011 template gothic was one of the first digital typefaces  obwit was appeared with twenty-two other fonts, and present in MoMA's Standard Deviations exhibition from March

About Helvetica Neue Helvetica is a very strange or realistic design, influenced by the renowned typeface of the 19th century Akzidenz-Grotesk and other German and Swiss designs. Its use became a trademark of the international style created by Swiss designers in the 1960s, and it became one of the most prominent features in the 20th century.

Over the years, a wide variety of variations in different weights, widths, and sizes, as well as coordination schemes for non-Latin character ranges were discharged in order. Remarkable highlights of Helvetica include a high x-tallness, the end of strokes on flat or vertical lines, and a very narrow separation between letters, which combine to give it a thick and minimum of appearance.

The Designer

Designer Biographyw Max Miedinger is a Swiss font designer. He was born in December 24, 1910, in Zurich, Switzerland and studied in Zurich and he is one of the most famous designer who created the Neue Haas Grotesk typeface in 1957 that was renamed Helvetica in 1960.

His typeface Helvetica Neue achieved fast global success.and he died in March 8, 1980, in Zurich, Switzerland.

Max Miedinger He spent four years as an apprentice typesetter at a book printing office and ten years in advertising as a typographer for department store chain Globe.

Also some believe that Miedinger objected to the original name Helvetia (Latin for Switzerland) because it is the name of a country.

Helvetica Neue was an easily readable typeface, which led to multiple applications. Helvetica Neue design was found in many places such as: • Print • The internet • News • Movies • Logos • Websites • Signs • Posters

There have been many twists and turned in the history of Helvetica. There were two versions, the first being the original design of Helvetica that was created by Max Miedinger and was released by Linotype. The second is New Helvetica Pro, published by Linotype in 2004; which is an OpenType version with extended foreign language support. Moreover, Helvetica Neue was found in 1957, then, in 1983 it became one of the most popular lines.

About Univers was one of the first typeface families to fulfil the idea that a typeface should form a family of consistent, related designs. Past sans-serif designs such as Gill Sans had much greater differences between weights, while loose families such as American Type Founders’ Franklin Gothic family often were advertised under different names for each style, to emphasise that they were not completely matching.

Designer Biographyw Adrian Frutiger was born in May 1928 in Unterseen, Canton. He is originally from Switzerland. Adrian attended many schools including Swiss schools and learned how to write and invent scripts and how to be pro in handwritings. He also liked painting and interested to learn calligraphy handwriting more than using tools.

Therefore, his father and teachers motivated him to start to point. After that, he began to learn new things such as learning accent fonts like roman. In the 1954, he designed the Univers typeface. Univers became one of the famous font until now.

Late designs

n 1991, Frutiger finished Vectora, a design influenced

by Morris Fuller Benton’s type faces Franklin Gothic and News Gothic.

Avenir

In 1988, Frutiger completed the family Avenir. Frutiger intended the design to be a more human version of geometric sans-serif types popular in the 1930s such as Erbar and Futura, and it is named Avenir (“future� in French) as a reference to the latter

The Univers used in many different logos like CNN, Swiss Airlines, Audi, eBay, Germany Airport, and sports network. Also apple company used Univers in their keyboards.
