IFI IS SHORT for Wireless Fidelity, and it is a technology that allows smart phones, tablets, kindles, computers, and game consoles to communicate over a wireless signal.

When you think about it, it is like a radio picking up signals from the airwaves so that you can get your music. WiFi was created by Terence Percival, Diethelm Ostry, John Deane, John O’Sullivan, and Graham Daniels in 1985.

TA L I N DA E A S T A F R I C A GIVE US A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF QUADRIGA IN AFRICA? Quadriga wants to be the one global presence in the world. Our clients are coming to Africa and we want to be here for them and support their properties with the right technology. We have been present in Africa for about three years. Over one year ago we opened the first Quadriga branch in Casablanca Morocco, and we do have a very strong presence in Egypt as well. In the past year we have managed to have operations in over 12 countries in Africa. We are looking to expand to most countries in Africa in the next two years.

By having operations through business partners in about 30 to 40 African countries and having our main offices in about five countries in Africa. Talinda East Africa, is a strong business partner covering the Eastern Africa region.

Quadriga is now doing about thirty installations around Africa and we have become the number one provider in Ivory Coast. Our goal is to become one of the major players in Africa in the next few years, with support from strong partners like Talinda, we are headed in the right direction.

WHAT PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN THE EASTERN AFRICAN MARKET AND WHY? Mobile applications, media entertainment, IPTV solutions, networking and high-speed Wi-Fi solutions for the guests, have been very successful in this market.

We are quickly gaining trust with our clients who are setting up in the region. They know our products and they trust us to give them unmatched support, through our partners, such as Talinda East Africa.

WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED IN THE AFRICAN MARKET? One of the main challenges is that we are new to the market. Though the brand names know us quite well the local hotels are starting to know us, through the support of our partners like Talinda, we are breaking the barriers.

Geography is a challenge as well, Africa is very big hence our client’s hotels are wide spread. Hence we need to have a network of distributors around the continent to be able to support their operations.

A good example in East Africa is Talinda. They have done a great job in covering the region as they understand this market very well and do a great job in supporting our clients. The African market is very competitive and we have to adjust ourselves to the market.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH TALINDA AS A PARTNER? Talinda is a great partner, they have expanded very quickly and have great relationships with their clients. They are very well versed with the technology and have a very able team which is well trained. We are confident in Talinda and we know that they will keep on growing and representing the Quadriga brand well.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING F O R WA R D TO FROM QUADRIGA? We are looking to secure our footing in the market with our main products. We have been here for a short time, but through the support from Talinda East Africa we have been getting noticed. Quadriga

would like to be successful in the market by focusing on the current projects and get positive feedback. We would like to grow with our already established clients as they expand further in the region.

Quadriga would also like to develop and grow into other countries in the region.

WHO IS TAREK? I’m a graduate of electrical engineering from McMaster University in Canada. I have worked for over 13 years in the United States. I then moved to Cairo to establish Quadriga’s business in the region. I come from a technical background and I have worked in many large projects in Canada, US, Egypt.

I have also worked in business development as well as the technical field. I got married recently, no children yet and my hobbies are deep sea diving.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR EXPERIENCE IN KENYA? I am very impressed by Kenya being my first time here. People here are very nice, very hospitable, there’s a lot of development going on. I have enjoyed my visit to the country and hope that I get to go for a safari the next time I visit.
