What are some of the trends in the video surveillance market?

There are some trends that are dominating the video surveillance market such as video resolution. This has upgraded from standard resolution to higher resolution. Such as 4mp, 5 mp etc. Also, the system itself is

upgraded from Analog to IP and this change is happening here in the UAE and countries in the Middle East. The application of AI in video surveillance is also a growing trend.

Currently, most of HIKVISION’s cameras as well as recorders have smart functions and AI-embedded

features. Now, CCTV is also moving away from providing just security, to be used in day-today applications as well. Businesses are using CCTVs to add value.

Another trend in this area is called VSaaS or Video Security-asa-Service. VSaaS is the technology that hosts the hardware and software of video-based security systems in the cloud, so that users can access their IP cameras anywhere through any device and have the video footage at their fingertips.

Cloud shall be the de facto platform and the urge to make digital transformation possible shall generate a lot of interest in modernising and enhancing applications using low code programming.

Cybersecurity threats are increasing multifold as we adopt more technologies.

Organisations should probably start focusing more on risk acceptance and transfer rather than risk mitigation.

Most of them shall look only at the baseline requirements and insurance as an alternative to building a security infra of their own. Business Email Compromise, SAAS security, Security of the cloud infrastructure across a multi cloud environment and insider threats shall occupy most people. Application security, analytics and visibility shall become more important for businesses as opposed to traditional security tied to firewalls, AV and access controls.

Specialised industry specific security solutions shall be more important than generic product coverage.

Probably we shall see the industry moving towards consolidated security portals covering hybrid data centres, cloud Apps, DevOps and so on.

For home end users, what is mostly in demand are hi-resolution videos and good after sales service. They also want their CCTV and other smart home devices to be linked, for easier use.

SMBs, on the other hand, are looking for reliable, costeffective products.

Enterprise clients look for integrated security features that are intuitive and easy to manage, while governments clients look for a centralised management platform of smart devices and so their demand for AI products is much higher.

As part of a consortium supervised by Makkah Development Authority, Hafil Transportation plays a pivotal role in ensuring pilgrims, who increase in number each year, travel

to and from the Holy City of Mecca in comfort and safety.

Motivated by its growing operations, Hafil sought to standardise and automate business processes across all its divisions, including Hajj/Umrah, school transportation, and private transport. The smart solution also identifies the speed at which the cyclists are traveling and detects if they are wearing a helmet. Moreover, further trend analysis will allow the collected data to predict and prevent critical cycling incidents like crowded tracks and accidents, and alert authorities of increased risk conditions based on the collected data”.

Cisco identified emerging key technology trends that will emerge in 2022 as it prepares to participate in the GITEX Technology Week scheduled on October 17 to 21, 2021 of the Dubai World Trade Centre.
