APPLICATIONS & PRODUCTS AEROSPACE CLADDING AND HARDENING Cladding and hardening are well established processes used in the aerospace industry. Used on ferrous components, hardening reduces wear or provides extra strength. Cladding is used to build up parts that have worn so they can be machined back to correct size and can also make the surface harder as a bi-product. Coherent’s range of High Power Direct Diode lasers, provide an alternative to the traditional methods used in these processes that is more energy efficient and reduces both operating and maintenance costs. To save time dismantling large components, Alpha Laser have developed the world’s first laser hardening mobile robot, the AL-ROCK.

COMPONENT MARKING As suppliers of FOBA products, TLM Laser offer a wide range of system solutions for virtually every aerospace component marking application, metal or plastic. FOBA fibre, Nd:YV04, Nd: YAG and CO2 lasers are among the fastest in their respective classes. The products are flexible, simple to integrate and renowned for their reliability and low maintenance.

CUTTING TLM Laser is the UK and Ireland partner for Coherent Laser Machine Tools. These systems are fully enclosed and available from 150w to 1Kw Sealed CO2 and fibre systems. The machines can: Cut Any Shape Imaginable with the Highest Flexibility Produce Small Kerfs of Only 0.15mm Cut Fine Details and the Smallest Pieces with the Highest Precision Produce Inlays Without Gaps Avoid Burning or Breaking Save Costs Due to Much Less Waste of Material

DOT MARKING Dot marking is an ideal aerospace solution because it allows the marking of extremely hard, uneven, irregular, flat and curved objects and surfaces without creating high stress or deformation. Marks are made by tracing and incising a series of micro-dots at an adjustable impact force. Due to the repeated action of a sharpened hard-metal stylus, permanent marking is possible on almost all kinds of material.

EXTRUDED PLASTICS Cable tunnels, wires and fuel supply lines – in the Aerospace Industry they all need marking. With demands of up to 80 meters per minute production speeds combined with the requirement for the highest quality of mark, only FOBA can meet these exacting criteria. TLM Laser supplies, delivers, installs and maintains all of FOBA’s extruded plastics marking systems.

SEMICONDUCTORS LASER INSPECTION Lasers are ideal for the inspection processes required in the semiconductor industry. With their high resolution and wide choice of wavelengths, lasers achieve the high levels of precision required. There are two branches of laser inspection. The first is the quality control of the microscopic features and any contamination affecting them. Our partners Coherent manufacture lasers that use scattering, absorption and ultrasonic techniques to determine and locate defects or contamination. For the second type of laser inspection, the determination of macroscopic shape, Coherent provides lasers using visible and deep UV wavelengths, achieving the highest accuracy.
