WHAT’S NEW - NGA MEA HOU

WOMAD is getting crafty! Introducing the Garden of Brews, a craft beer garden located on the front lawn of The Gable’s house. The bar is open for four sessions during the festival, with a selection of craft beer on tap available to purchase by the glass, or tasting paddle. Entry is free but space is limited, so be sure to add this to your WOMAD to-do list.

ALLAN SCOTT WINE TASTING

Interviewed by Abbie Jury. As part of the World of Words programme, New Zealand winemaker Allan Scott joins us as at WOMAD 2018 for an intimate session that is part interview and part wine tasting. Sample a selection of wines from Allan’s Generations series while hearing about the wine he’s made and the stories that surround the industry he’s grown to love. Each sample will be paired with hors d’oeuvres, designed to complement the elegant flavours of each wine.

TE PAEPAE

Te Paepae has been reinvigorated with the support of Te Wa -nanga o Aoteaora, Tui Ora and Te Puni Ko -kiri, with something of interest for the whole family. New and exciting activities include having a go with a glow in the dark poi, temporary stencilled Ta - Moko, sit-down chats with a local Kauma -tua (elder), chilling out in the new Manaaki Lounge, treating yourself to a mirimiri and even experiencing a 360 degree virtual Po -whiri!

TAI CHI FOR CAMPERS

We’re bringing calm and serenity to the campsite with a morning Tai Chi session. A form of Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits, it is said that practising Tai Chi helps the body return to a balanced, relaxed and healthy state and returns the mind to stillness, clarity and wisdom. ZUMBA

Start Saturday with a cumbian themed bang! Join Team Azucar Dance for a Zumba dance session, the Latin inspired dance fitness classes that have taken over the globe. This session will be sure to warm you up and get you in the WOMAD spirit! Team Azucar are holding a Zumba workshop on the Sunday of WOMAD, join them in Te Paepae to learn the basics.
