Ways to study - Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121)

Traineeship
Studying a traineeship with TAFE Queensland allows employees working within the childcare industry to combine practical work experience with a nationally-recognised qualification. If your employee chooses to enrol in a traineeship with you through TAFE Queensland as the Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO), during the sign-up process we‘ll discuss your options with you and your employee, so we can find the best training delivery that meets your unique needs.
COSTS:
Free TAFE for U25s
Apprentices or trainee studying a priority qualification, such as the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) may be eligible to have their training fees associated with their study covered by the Queensland Government. Typically, these fees are $1.60 per hour of training at TAFE Queensland.
Eligibility
To be eligible for free apprenticeships/traineeships for under 25s, students must be employed in Queensland as an apprentice or trainee under a training contract in one of the priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications. They must commence, or be undertaking, training before 31 December 2024.
Non-funded apprentices and trainees will be charged a fee for service cost. These will be confirmed prior to the commencement of training.
Information regarding costs will be outlined on the agreed training plan, which will be provided to the employer and trainee at time of induction.
WORKPLACE CONTACT:
Apprentices and Trainees are visited or contacted in the workplace twice a term (via Zoom or face-to-face).
Childcare centres may have a limit on the number of Trainees and Apprentices. // FIND OUT MORE about traineeships
Work-based / Existing worker
Work-based students are able to access the same benefits as that studying on campus with some online study would bring, while having the convenience of completing the program in the workplace.
Students must already be employed in a regulated Early Childhood Education and Care service to enrol as work-based student at TAFE Queensland and will be required to complete an Employment Declaration.
COSTS:
Fee-Free TAFE
Fee-Free TAFE courses have been specifically chosen based on local skills demand and advice from industry. Completing training in these high-priority areas will guarantee students graduate with in-demand skills and strong job prospects. This will typically be funded under Certificate 3 Guarantee or User Choice funding subsidies.
WORKPLACE CONTACT:
Students are visited or contacted in their workplace once a month (via Zoom or face-to-face), with the ability to be in regular contact with their educator as required.
Childcare centres do not currently experience any limits on the number of work-based students they may have in their facility.
