TAFE AT SCHOOLS WORK EXPERIENCE INFORMATION

We highly recommend that students participate in Work Experience as it fosters valuable connections within the industry and allows students to gain authentic industry exposure, potentially unlocking doors to future apprenticeship opportunities.

Programs that recommend Work Experience will be identified by:

• The TAFE at School course guide, and on the TAFE Queensland website.

• Information contained within Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) paperwork.

• Work Experience appearing in program timetables. This may be timetabled within the school term, or over term breaks.

TAFE Queensland students who wish to participate in Work Experience must confirm an appropriate placement provider and liaise with the Vocational Placement Team to complete the Work Experience Agreement paperwork

TERM 1

A Vocational Placement Officer will visit each class in the middle of Term 1 and give an extensive presentation on work experience:

The presentation covers:

• What Work Experience entails

• When Work Experience can be completed

• A link to group timetables https://timetables.tafeqld.edu.au/group

• The benefits of Work Experience

• Tips on how to find WorkExperience

• Work Experience Agreement paperwork

• Behaviour expectations in the workplace

• Workplace health and safety

• Information on futureapprenticeships

• Contact information for the VPC team

You can view the presentation here: https://express.adobe.com/page/UfgfOJRLpPjLT/

Subsequently, an email will be sent to both students and parents, containing a link to the Work Experience presentation. This ensures that any absent students receive the information and allows parents to review the content covered, providing them with the opportunity to support their child in understanding and preparing for work experience.

An Employment Officer will attend each class to share details about the nature of apprenticeships and how engaging in Work Experience can serve as a pathway to future opportunities.
