Trade Taster Program
Course Description
The Trade Taster Program one day per week for nine weeks. Throughout the program, you'll complete your Construction Industry White Card plus units from multiple different trades.
This program has been designed to fit around your other high school subjects, allowing you to get a head start on your career while maintaining your studies. It is important to note that successfully completing this program will not give you a formal qualification or any Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) credits. However after completing the Trade Taster Program you may want to continue your training with a pre-apprenticeship course or school-based apprenticeship and get a head start on your trade qualifications while you're still at school.

Selection Criteria
This program is offered to year 10 students currently enrolled in and attending a State, Private or Independent School in Queensland.
If you hold a current White card and or current first aid certificate please bring your Statement of Attainment on the first day of the program.
Resources Required
Under Workplace Health and Safety legislation students are legally required to wear appropriate protective clothing in class and around the Trades area at all times.
You will need to have the following:
• Overalls or long sleeved tops and pants.
• Steel capped safety work boots, required from the first day.
• Stationery such as pens, pencils, notebooks and erasers.
• Calculator.
• A USB.
• Note: No Singlets can be worn to any of the classes.
If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.
Campus Facilities
Located in the heart of the marine precinct at Coomera this specialised training facility is based on-site with the Gold Coast’s largest boat building employer, Riviera. The facility boasts two levels of world-class, industry-style workshops and specialised learning spaces.

• A small café is located near the campus.
Parking and Public Transport
• Parking is available on campus via Darley Street.
• Bus stops are located on Waterways Drive, a short walk to the campus.
Course Funding
The Taster Program is fully funded by the Queensland Government and is offered at no cost to eligible Year 10 students. It is also important to note that this program does not use any of your VET in Schools (VETiS) funding entitlement.
