Services
Course/s Description
Get a head start in the health care sector with this entry-level qualification. This pathway is perfect for people looking for the foundation skills needed to assist in a diverse range of health care settings. Health care workers are in high demand in Australia with forecasts expecting more than 50,000 job openings in the next five years.
Develop the skills you need to comply with infection prevention and WHS. You will also learn how to transport clients and carry out nursing assistant duties in a range of settings. Our highly experienced team of industry professionals will give you the support and guidance you need to successfully transition into the health care sector
If students wish to continue into the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, some completed units from the Certificate II will be credited to the Certificate III qualification. Please speak to your teacher in regards to this.
Delivery Information
Class Times: 8:30am – 2.30pm
Mixed Mode delivery: Combination of Virtual theoretical delivery with mandatory practical sessions at Southport Campus.
Theory Classes
Online/Live streamed theory classes will be held weekly with your TAFE Queensland teacher.
Tutorials
Face to face tutorials/practicals will be held on site at the Southport Campus approx. once per monthplease review your timetable to see confirmed dates.
Practical Days
Mandatory practical days will be timetabled at the Southport Campus. Specific dates TBA.
Please Note: Your first day of study will be at the TAFE Queensland Southport Campus. Students are to meet in the foyer on Level 1 to be directed by a staff member. An SMS will be sent prior to the day with more detailed information.
Resources Required
You will need to have the following:
1. Stationery such as pens, pencils, notebook and eraser (general stationery).
2. Students are required to wear long black pants, black polo/t-shirt and black enclosed shoes for mandatory practical sessions.
Mandatory Requirement: You have access to reliable internet to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system (Connect), and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player.
Course Fees
Certificate II in Health Support Services
The Certificate II in Health Support Services is a VETiS funded program, so there is no cost to eligible students.

What is VET in School (VETiS) funding?*
The VET investment budget provides funding for students to complete one VETiS qualification listed on the Priority Skills List while attending secondary school (in Years 10, 11 and 12).
Qualifications are primarily at Certificate I and II level and are those that have been identified by industry as leading to employment.
Prior to enrolment, TAFE Queensland Gold Coast checks all student eligibility for VETiS funding. If it is deemed that a student has previously used their VETiS funding they will be contacted and offered a position with the full fee for service price.

What will TAFE Queensland Gold Coast do?
Advise the student’s school of all student absences:Class roll will be updated for all school stakeholders.
Advise the student’s parent/ guardian of all student absences:This includes students leaving early.
Complete pathways documentation: to identify course progression and completion of units.
