OUR 1953 SEASON We sinrted by sprmc trammg one week in l."hoenlx. Arizona ,1nd one week in San Angelo, Te,xns. We left home on Mnrch 5 and bad played 179 games, 200 shows and a nationnl tournament by October I. We lost 16 Ume5, Eddie wu,; voted All-American at the N.S.C Tournnment In So.Jt Lake City, Utah Eddie struck out 3064. bau� record for one season.

We were In Texas during the bt,d winds nnd hod reservations in Wnco for the mght the tornado hit. We were rruned out ut Texas nine consecutive davs, yet they hod their worst drought m years We had a no-no thrown al us for II.he first lime. Russ Johnson wns the pitcher in a day game In Ontario. The game was played In a baseball stadium wbe_re it was 1mpo,sible to put one out of lhe park. Jerry Jones made first bnse on one occasion when lhe cotchcr dropped 1he tlurd strike.

On the next pitch Jerry u.•ns thrown oul trvlni: to stenl second base. w., had a perfect 21 Ume.o, up and 21 limes do\vn. Beautiful pitching and great t1cld.mg did 11. Russ got only six stnkeou\s. Our hats off to hlm. We hove played him O\'l'r o dozen limes nnd he 1s always a good compl!btor.
