Guevara was seen as the one with the strongest Marxist sympathies because he was in charge of land redistribution and “revolutionary justice.” The latter was about his role in charge of the firing squads at La Cabaña. As with all historical figures there is disagreement in all of this. But this is the history I lived through as a child and what I heard (in whispers) being said at the time.
