She wasn’t amused. She put a complaint into my supervisor about me. He called me into the Cinnabron Lebron James meme shirt also I will do this office, and when I told him which woman it was, and what I had said to her, he laughed his head off, and said Well done. I like to think I’m a reasonable guy with plenty of tolerance but I hit a limit one night. This was while working McDonald’s where I had been blessed with being the closing manager Sunday and Monday nights (I guess I should have grateful it wasn’t Friday and Saturday nights but that would be another manager’s story). I have my regulars that pop in and this one night Bob (not his real name) came in just before lobby closing and that night there was this horrible smell that we couldn’t identify. So bad that my drive through person asked if they could move to the back booth and I’d handle front counter and the hand out window. That was the extent of it that night. We didn’t look too hard for the smell as the lobby closed soon and drive through got busier. Curiously, Bob never said a word about the stench and when he was done he cleaned up after himself, grabbed all the trays in the lobby and brought them to me (he always did this and I always offered him a dessert for his kindness) and that’s when I realized that the smell was him! I was fighting back tears because of the smell but I didn’t feel comfortable telling this kind old gentleman that he was quite rancid! Well, over the next few weeks I saw him a couple more times and it was worse each time. I finally had to say something and he almost cried himself because (as I found out) he had very little sense of smell and didn’t even know he stank. Come to find out that at that time he had an issue with his colon and because I said something, he went to his doctor and was able to get taken care of. I guess this wasn’t something I thought I’d get fired over but it was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever said to someone (except this girl I finally said “I love you” to, and eventually married)!
