We will attend to and assist with all necessary health testing, vet examinations, paper work and obtaining state permits associated to export animals. A $300 (CDN) charge per animal will be paid by the purchaser at the time of settlement for their purchase. Delivery assistance provided to get your bull(s) to your ranch.

DELIVERY OPTIONS:

Purchaser’s unable to take their bull home on sale day may leave the bulls at the respective consignors farms until required. Bulls looked after free of charge until April 30th after which there will be a $5.00 per day charge. Delivery will begin shortly following the sale at the seller’s convenience. Free delivery within 200 miles.Please make delivery arrangements with your bull’s consignor(s). All bulls returning home must be insured. Insurance will be available on sale day. $100/bull rebate on bulls taken home sale day.

FERTILITY:

All bulls will be scrotal measured and semen tested prior to sale day. All animals will carry the standard breeding guarantees, as specified by the Canadian Simmental Association. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchase price of the animal.

Welcome to the 17th Annual Proudly Western Simmental Bull Sale, March 18, 2023, at the Whitewood Auction Mart, Whitewood, Saskatchewan. For over a decade and a half, this group of dedicated breeders have been supplying the livestock industry high quality sires to meet your breeding requirements. Quality is no surprise if you get a chance to tour their powerful cow herds.

Mark and Jennalee, Scissors Creek Cattle Co., present a powerful set of yearlings…. Thick, stout, with lots of hair and testicles. Breeders, you need to check their lineup. Welcome to the 17th Annual Proudly Western Bull sale. What a year 2022 was with all the snow, wind and cold in the winter, then came the late April storms followed by a super wet spring. However, all that moisture did result in more hay and silage in the feed yard then we have had in a long time, that together with the stronger calf prices this fall and we are feeling a renewed sense of optimism for the industry.

The late spring put everything a month behind this year and as a result we didn’t get creep feed out to the pastures and weaning was later then normal not happening until the first weekend in October. The bulls were started on a TMR at weaning which includes corn silage, hay, super oats, distillers and a loose supplement with a target gain of 3.5 pounds per day. The TMR is designed to promote longevity and allow them to reach their genetic potential without adding a bunch of extra fat. Our practice has always been to cull hard and we do that both in the cowherd and bullpen to ensure the highest quality for our customers. We try to balance maternal traits with performance to breed cattle that will work well in any program.

We take pride in our cattle being a family affair. Our oldest, Ryder, will be 14 soon and is a huge help now taking on any jobs that are asked of him and he knows the cows better then his mom! Jace is almost ten and less likely to be found at the barn but does enjoy the farm life and loves his 4-H heifer Jesse. He has been enjoying playing Goalie in hockey the last couple years. Nash just turned seven and also loves the cows and gets quite upset that he isn’t old enough to help more yet! He also loves any sport involving a ball or a puck and is also busy playing hockey.

Klipper is a bull that puts everything together in a really attractive yet extremely powerful package. He is very deep bodied, has big time rib shape and massive muscle shape. This bull has a striking profile and is powerfully constructed. He has extra length of spine combined with a wide hip structure that is hard to duplicate. This bull is a moderate framed meat wagon. He is as deep bodied as they come and has the extra thickness that is hard to find. His dam has also had two excellent full sisters – one working in our herd and one that sold to Dana John’s at the Queen’s of the Heartland Sale. The udder quality on the full sister here is excellent with body type to match. This bull will surely sire the easy doing and profitable kind.

Here is one of the thickest and deepest bodied bulls in the pen. He is explosively muscled through his lower quarter and has a big wide loin on him that is a treat to see from the feed wagon on a daily basis. He is sound structurally and is proficient when he is on the move. His great grand dams pedigree seems to be present in a lot of the powerful cattle at our farm. Baldie bulls built like this guy sure don’t come along everyday.

Here is likely the most powerful bull in our pen this year. He is straight in his lines, strong footed, and athletic on the move. His muscle shape and massive spring of rib define his overall character and need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. He is an embryo calf from the great Mader program out of the highly proven Opal cow family and the RF Supercharged bull that we have heard good things about. I feel this bull’s picture doesn’t do him justice and think he is one outstanding individual that deserves a lot of attention.

Here is a high performance type of bull that has the hip structure and length of body to add pounds to a calf crop. He and his full brother are both very powerful bulls. He has a bit more birth weight but I believe his length and recipient dam were both contributing factors to this. He is smooth enough shouldered and clean skulled that I believe he will still calve well. He is in the top few percentile for weaning and yearling weight EPDs and at the end of the day more pounds of calf still pay more bills.

Here is a black white face bull that is sure to turn some heads on sale day. He is huge topped, big bodied and massive muscled. His sire, DMF 13H, is a bull we wanted desperately to buy as our own walking herd sire but unfortunately we didn’t have the budget to get it done. We were lucky enough to buy a semen package and also have an outstanding set of War Zone heifers in the replacement pen (two in the 4-H show pen). We have some exciting new calves out of him on the ground this year and also plan on using him heavily in our AI program again. Kaboom’s performance EPDs are awesome and he is one heck of a bull.

This bull was born 10 days early and up and sucking right away on the straw pack in super cold weather. He is very complete in his makeup and square hipped. 89K is a powerful hipped, super hairy bull that has the extra muscle shape that is hard to find. He is long bodied, clean skulled and smooth shouldered which leads us to believe he will calve easily despite a bit more birth weight than some of the bulls on offer. Here is a nice calving ease type bull that still has ample muscle and capacity to go along with it. His dam is a very neat young cow with a tidy and very square udder. His sire is an extra sound footed bull that calves really well. I believe this guys daughters will stand the test of time.

Here is a chromed up March calf that closes the gap on the older January calves on a daily basis. He is extra sound structured and square hipped. His grandam was a bull producing machine and his dam is following closely in her foot steps with this guy and the Hardcore 77H bull that was our high seller two years ago to Terry & Loretta Young. A really neat bull here out of our newest herdsire that we bought in partnership with Drifting M Farms from the Soderglen program. We bought him late in the breeding season and so we didn’t get a lot of calves out of him the first year. This younger bull has plenty of meat, muscle and a real presence in the pen. His sire is super strong footed, long bodied and comes out of a highly regarded cow family. The Drifting M folks have also calved heifers to him successfully so he should have a high degree of calving ease.

Klondike is a well balanced and long bodied bull that is very sound in his structure. He is sired by Gold Key who we have used on heifers for a couple years and he has calved very well. His grand dam was likely one of the most powerful cows I have ever owned and her daughter definitely did a good job on her first calf. Knightcap is an extra long bodied, bigger framed bull that profiles well. He is as dark red as they come and tracks true. His strong EPD profile across the board leads us to believe that he will add a degree of calving ease without sacrificing growth. His sire, Red Heat, is a calving ease leader and is part of the Soda Pop cow family that is one of the elite cow families in the breed.

Kansas is a beautifully constructed RWF bull that is proud and sound all the way to the ground. He has tons of hair, is big topped and thick butted. This bull is my sleeper pick of our entire offering as the youngest bull and I feel when it all shakes out he may be one of the best bulls of this years group. He is so neat in his design and sound in his foot and leg structure. He is thick butted, strong topped and soggy made. His dam is a very moderate framed cow, with a good udder, that is often picked out by visitors. You can buy this March 20th calf with confidence as we feel he is going to be something special.

Kershaw is a powerful red baldie bull that is bold ribbed and wide over his topline. He is a high performance bull that is in the top 10% of the breed for weaning and yearling weights. Kevlar is a calving ease specialist that still easily fits in with the big performance oriented bulls as far as thickness and depth. He is really complete in his makeup, strong footed and moves out easily. His 72 lb birthweight, coupled together with his 16.9 CE number leads us to believe he would be a good candidate for the heifer pen. Welcome to the 17th annual Proudly Western bull sale. We would like to thank all the bidders and buyers that participated in last year’s sale. We are committed to raising two year old bulls with no yearlings ever sold off the farm. We have a great mix of calving ease and performance bulls on offer. These extra age bulls offer the advantage of being developed at a slower rate and the ability to service more cows without losing condition. Our bulls are on an oat based diet with free choice hay. They are on a full herd health program and are also vaccinated for foot rot. Since we calve on grass, udder quality in our cow herd is very important to us. I don’t talk about udder quality in the footnotes of the bulls as we have a very strict culling program on udders and feet. Nobody has the time or wants to deal with a bad uddered cow. We have a very strict culling program as well in the bull pen as we cull several times through their development; at weaning, again when they come off grass at 18 months of age and one final cull a couple months prior to sales day. The dam of Young Mr Jamarcus did it again. Her 2020 bull calf was one of the high sellers going to H Bar M Land & Cattle, of Macklin, Sask. last year. This is the first calf crop off our new herdsire Grandslam and he stamps them all the same with great muscle expression and that easy doing soggy look. Here is a bull that Chris Poley found in the pen right away on his visit in January. This bull is as complete as you can make them, full of meat and muscle and super dark red. Welcome to the 17th annual Proudly Western Bull Sale. Once again, we are very happy to be part of this sale and proud to offer to you this group of bulls. Thank you to everyone who showed interest and purchased from us last spring, your support is greatly appreciated.

The spring of 2021 was an exciting one for us as our new herd sire LFE Blockbuster was able to breed a significant portion of our herd. Also we were fortunate enough to purchase a semen pack off of SRH Hannibal and were successful in AI’ing many of our black cows and heifers. This is definitely the most uniform set of bulls we have raised to date. Many are like peas in a pod that you can’t tell apart.

As always our bulls since weaning have had free choice hay, along with a free choice mixture of S01 oats/bull ration pellet/oats straw. This system has proved well for us year after year with steady weight gain throughout the winter.

We think Hannibal has really stepped up our breeding program when we get to see calves that are as solid and consistent as this guy. 7K is a bull that is a true standout. This is hands down the best bull that we have ever raised. The structure and soundness of this guy is second to none. The extra spring of rib, massive top line and hip he carries is what makes him a great herd sire prospect. This bull from weaning day until Agribition had an impressive gain of 5.4 pounds per day. He gathered a lot of attention in bull pen alley at Agribition this fall which makes us hopeful that he is going to have a bright future ahead. His dam 2G has impressed us on both calves she has raised, with the first being a heifer sold to Bert’s NR Simmental. The dam of 2G, Miss R Plus 1118Y was the pick of the heifers purchased by Rehorst Farms in Ontario, we purchased 1118Y out of their dispersal sale. Currently 2G is raising a full brother to 7K, and he looks identical to 7K at this time last year. The genetic makeup of this bull is a who’s who of some of the best blood lines in the Simmental breed. TERMS & CONDITIONS

TERMS...

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

BIDDING...

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder...no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

ANNOUNCEMENTS...

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE...

All bulls sold are guaranteed breeders by the owners. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull. Should any bull fail to be an unsatisfactory breeder, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value or a credit will be given toward the purchase of another bull. If you have a problem with your bull please notify us immediately. Under no circumstances will the seller be liable for more than the purchase price of the animal.

EXCEPTION GUARANTEE...

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION...

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Simmental Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

PEDIGREE ESTIMATES...

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

LIABILITIES...

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. The buyer must look to the seller for fulfillment of all guarantees and representations made hereunder.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS...

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

PHONE, MAIL, WIRE BIDS...

Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, mail or wire their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

DELIVERY...

Bulls looked after free of charge until April 30th after which there will be a $5.00 per day charge. Delivery will begin shortly following the sale at the seller’s convenience. Free delivery within 200 miles. Bull must be insured by buyer.

INSURANCE...

Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

ERRORS...

All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supersede any written material in the catalogue. The seller reserves the right to draw semen from any bull in the sale for in-herd use only. The collection will be at the purchaser’s convenience and the seller’s expense.
