2020 sure has been an interesting year from several aspects. It has brought change to how we do our daily business, how we communicate, and our ability to socialize with friends and family near and far. These changes have created a lot of adversity, but the ag industry has pulled together to be even stronger than ever. Our frontline workers have kept the country and globe moving forward and we have seen many opportunities arise that have not been possible before. We are very proud to be apart of an industry that continues to strive forward. It doesn’t matter what situation or problem we are faced, the agricultural community is always able to find opportunity and continue to push forward. It is this positive attitude and mind set of not giving up that makes us enjoy what we do and the many people we have met doing what we love. This year marks the 9th Annual GF and Friends In It To Win It Angus Production Sale, and true to the times, we are dedicated to bringing our customers the best genetics that we can, to help develop and grow current and new Angus breeders. These genetics are offered by an incredible group of consignors who we are proud to call our friends and are highly reputable producers who are equally proud of the cattle that they raise. This year we have one special addition to our annual event. It is with great pleasure that we are working with our local 4-H club to allow the kids an opportunity to sell their market steers and heifers. I was a member of the Lucknow 4-H Beef Club for many years and was given many opportunities because of this program. This event will allow young beef enthusiasts the same opportunities that I was presented and we are thrilled to be a part of their annual project. We welcome you to join us on October 10th for an Angus filled day with friends, family and high quality Angus cattle that can be the building blocks to a new beginning or another breeding piece to a growing herd.

From the Desk at T Bar... Ten years ago, I remember Brad Gilchrist and I visiting together wondering if we thought we could draw enough attention that Angus breeders would travel this far west in the province for an Angus event. Now coming into our 9th Annual Sale we’ve saw this sale become not only a household name in the industry, but a forefront in the Angus history books where cattle from this very ring have gone on to write history in some of the most prestigious herds on the continent. The GF prefix is popular in both female and male progeny. This past spring was proof of this powerful cowherd with another successful bull sale right here in Lucknow. GF’s offering is better than ever this year, leading the charge with an absolute stunning pair that will be among the most featured creatures of the fall run. Included in the mix is the famed Premier Livestock offering who have really dug deep with an exciting pair and an excellent set of bred heifers. The consignment portion of the sale is rich in pedigree and sorted down to the very best. Progeny with pedigrees on the cutting edge and phenotype like none other. I cannot think of a better time to replace cattle on your farm with newer, fresher genetics than ever Sale Management... before. The cattle selected in this offering will advance any program with a progressive future! Plan to be with us as a tradition of the Thanksgiving weekend at GF. All of us at T Bar are very knowledgeable of each operation in the offering, so please feel free to call at any time.
Thanks, and see you in Lucknow. Ben Wright Sales Staff...

Take a pencil write down everything you want in a female. Once you have that list, compare it to this female. Power, capacity, structural integrity, ability to produce, udder quality and a data set to back it up. She’s elegant in her design, yet powerful from all angles and with our heaviest heifer calf of the entire 2020 crop, the proof is in the pudding. She has a two year old daughter doing an outstanding job on her first bull calf, who also has pushed down the scale getting into the top group of performance bull calves. Tibbie was successfully flushed and created 17 frozen grade 1 embryos. Bred to Cardinal Cash Advance 60F on June 23, 2020. Due to calve April 1, 2021.

Everyone loves a lady who works hard and very few can do it while looking this good. Blackbird from the very beginning excited us and she has continued to produce quality cattle who have benefited their new owners. I often think we sometimes let these females leave too young but this one really makes me think she should have made it to the donor pen first. To the lucky new owner, please let me know when she is flushed I’ll be the first customer in line. Bred to 5T Power Chip 4790 on April 18, 2020. Due to calve January 25, 2021.

Although she carries the LLB prefix, this one was bred right here at GF. She was sold in dam to our great friends at LLB and when we saw her as a bred heifer we couldn’t resist purchasing her back! She was a sale feature that year and one of their high sellers. Since then, she has went on to raise some of our top bulls. The 2020 spring bull sale saw her son lead off the book and sold for $15,000 to Angus Hill Farms. Her son this year will be at the top of the book next spring too. Don’t miss an opportunity for this young cow to help produce the kind of cattle that get noticed. Bred to 5T Power Chip 4790 on April 14, 2020. Due to calve January 21, 2021.

Full disclosure, the only thing wrong with this female is that she has one bad eye. A few years ago we had some pinkeye in the one pasture. This cow got it and because of that she has a scar on her one eye. But when I say that is the only thing wrong with her, I mean it. Her sons and daughters are some of our highest indexing cattle year after year. She is as wide as they come, as deep as you would want them and she calves annually the same time of year with very marketable progeny. Check out this pedigree too, she is a maternal sister to GF Son in Law, who is one of Semex’s global leaders for units sold. Bred to GF Lucknow 905G on March 25, 2020. Due to calve January 1, 2021.

This is one of the highest profile cows in the sale based on past achievements. Premier Livestock shocked the crowd in 2018 when he bought the pick of our show string, selecting a heifer calf as the $14,500 pick. That heifer calf went on to win her class as a calf and again as a bred last year. Her son’s have sold in high demand and maybe her best one yet will be a feature next spring. Bred to 5T Power Chip 4790 on April 3, 2020. Due to calve January 10, 2021.

This heifer comes as one of the most popular and successful matings in North America with First Class on the top side and B C Lookout on the bottom. 8G is a daughter of one of our most consistent producers and goes back to the foundational DRM Morgan 14P cow family that covers the majority of our herd. Her dam, 29Y, is a 3/4 sibling to Miss Morgan 28Y that was named National Champion at the Royal Winter Fair in 2012. We were really looking forward to campaigning 8G in the Younger Yearling Heifer Division as she is extremely nice haired, clean and square in her lines and gives you a real nice balanced look from the side profile. AI bred to PVF Insight 0129 (sexed female) on April 17, 2020. Pasture exposed to GF First Class Rose 77F from April 26 to July 20, 2020.

Flora 112H is another female that has stood out in our pasture all spring. She is a deep bodied, wide topped female who was the heaviest weaning heifer calf in our 2020 calf crop. We purchased 112H’s dam and full sister last year from Harprey Farms. As a yearling, her full sister just keeps getting better. Her easy fleshing dam puts it all into her calves every year. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the Canadian Angus Association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Gilchrist Farms is thrilled to support the Huron County 4-H Beef Club by offering the members this opportunity to sell their market project at our “In It To Win It” Sale this year. Traditionally the 4-H Show and Sale is held on Thanksgiving Saturday at Brussels Livestock and local 4-H members compete in the show and sell their animals through the ring to our very supportive business community. In the past Brad Gilchrist spent many Thanksgiving Saturdays competing and selling his market projects at this annual event. We all know that this year has been different than 4-H Ontario most and unfortunately this show and sale has been cancelled for this year. With only one active beef club and no sheep clubs due to COVID-19 there was just not enough numbers to sustain this event, but we all look forward to continuing the tradition at the Brussels Show and Sale next year. We thank Brad and Kristie and Gilchrist Farms for jumping in and supporting the 4-H members that do have a market animal this year by giving them the opportunity to sell it the Day of the Sale. As 4-H has given to Brad and Kristie over the years, they are now contributing back to this great program that builds our future leaders in agriculture. We would be remiss if we also did not thank T Bar C for their support in auctioning these animals for the 4-H youth. Their constant support of 4-H and Junior Events around the country is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Huron County 4-H
