Welcome to our 17th Annual Bull Sale

We are very excited about our upcoming 2018 bull sale! 2017 has passed and we were all blessed with a positive cattle market. Sales in fall were strong and cattlemen saw premiums for those very strong, well-muscled limousin and limousin-influenced calves. It was evident from watching the fall run that cattlemen got rewarded for investing in great bulls as the great calves fetched those premium prices. Also the fall purebred sales were very strong, so moving forward into 2018 it looks like the cattle industry is going to stay positive and strong. In our corner of the world, Sher is in her 25th year of teaching Gr 7-12 and she still loves those kids and they love her! Braeden has graduated from high school and is working towards becoming a heavy duty technician. (I’m looking forward to the help there!) Annie is in grade 11 and still deciding on her future plans, but cattle are definitely part of her picture! At Diamond C Ranch, we were blessed to have a very good bull sale last year, which for us and for you is positive because this year’s bulls are similar sired and are every bit as strong or stronger than last year. This is the last opportunity for you to add some high quality genetics that won’t be around again. It is the last year to purchase genetics from two sires who have definitely moved our program ahead: Diamond C Zepplin and Excels Polled Popeye. Zepplin is our female builder and Popeye… well, he sired Braveheart and Diamond C Angelina!! Enough said. For sure this is one of the most powerful set of bulls we have produced. 2017 saw us wean off the highest weaning weights we have ever had which is going to turn into increasing your weaning weights which will increase your profits. You have to like that! Our offering consists of a large selection of coming two year olds that honestly are very strong and we have been swaying back and forth on keeping a number of them for use in our own herd. But, we are giving our buyers first opportunity. The yearlings are being led by the strength of Braveheart who sires performance like no other sire we have ever used. Also this year we have an abundance of calving ease bulls ready for your heifer pen. The bulls have been on the same TMR cereal silage ration as past years with the addition of thirty percent corn silage mixed in. We have incorporated the addition of corn silage to maximize yields on less ground. The bulls are started on this ration in late August or early September for the two year olds. Our bulls always could be pushed more, but we are comfortable with where they are at and they are maintained so they will last for you. We know this is a big investment for you and we are trying to do everything we can so that the bulls are presented well and will last over time. We have bulls to meet the needs of a variety of programs, performance, building females and calving ease bulls. Some bulls excel in a variety of areas and others which are more specific, such as calving ease heifer bulls. We will always stand behind our bulls and give you the customer support that you deserve. We like to treat you the way we like to be treated. As always the bulls are able to remain here at the ranch and arrangements for delivery can be made post sale day. Insurance will be available if bulls are staying at the ranch. We encourage you to come by early and view the bulls at your convenience so you can analyze which bull best fits your program. Again we will be hosting an open house on March 11 from 1-4 pm to give you time so you are not rushed on sale day or so you can see them if you cannot attend on sale day. If you are unable to attend, we will look after your bids either by phone or talking to you previous to the sale. If you are unhappy with any of our sight unseen recommendations then you do not own the bull. Also our sale will be live on the internet for you to watch and bid through VJV auctions. DIAMOND C ZEPPLIN It’s the last chance to own a Diamond C Zepplin Son and he has left us his best set of bulls he has ever given us. No guess work here; he is proven and he did it again. His calves turn into fantastic herdsires and his daughters are incredible dams. We have many milking in our herd and they truly are great cows. He throws docility, performance, great hair coats- just about everything you want in a herd sire. There are many of these bulls we have considered using as our own herd sire, but because of his influence in our herd we offer them to you. What an opportunity! He will definitely be remembered as one of the greatest bulls to walk our pastures at Diamond C Ranch.

She was Annie’s 4-H project and was Champion Heifer and Champion Cow with her first calf at foot. Cinderella is out of the famed Diamond C Angelina and Zero Turn, so there is greatness in this bloodline. Zero Turn and Angelina have their second calf leading off this section of the catalog. EXCELS POLLED POPEYE When I think of Excels Polled Popeye the first thing is how quiet his progeny are. He himself was as docile as you can get. He throws lots of muscle and length and his daughters are very functional females. He is no longer here at the ranch, so as with Zepplin these will be the last bulls offered out of him. He has left us some of our very best: Diamond C Braveheart and Diamond C Angelina. There has been a few years where all of the cattle in our show string had a touch of him somewhere. He truly did a great job for us and we know his sons will carry on his tradition.

We lost our heifer bull in the spring of 2015 and we needed a bull for our late group cows. Sirloin Alumni fit that bill. We wanted a bull that would sire us low birth weight calves out of our heifers and he did just that. He also carried a pedigree that was a bit different and worked in our program. These bulls are coming two year olds so they will cover a few more in the heifer pen or on your cows. They will work on heifers, although it is recommended that Lot 22 be used on second calvers at least the first year. In addition, they carry really nice dispositions.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS:

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of livestock following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected there to are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

DISCLAIMER:

The seller warrants clear title to and the right to sell each bull offered for sale. All bulls offered for sale are warranted to be sound, however; the seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign objects after the bull has been sold nor sickness that was not apparent at the time of sale.

While we believe the material contained in this book to be correct at the time of printing, we cannot accept responsibility to any errors herein, regardless of the cause.

BREEDING GUARANTEE:

All homo polled tests were conducted and determined by Ingenity. We do not guarantee results.

We, the sellers, have done everything possible to assure you, the buyer, that every bull in this sale will be a breeder. However, should a problem arise, please inform the seller so the problem can be resolved. The purchaser shall have six months from the date the bull reaches fourteen months of age to report in writing to the seller that the buII is a non-breeder, providing of course, that the bull has been maintained in satisfactory breeding condition. Each consignor will have six months to prove the buII a breeder after the time of report. In the event a bull is a non breeder the situation will be handled by either a replacement, credit or money back. In no case will an adjustment be made for more than the purchase price of that particular bull. At no time will a buyer’s reimbursement or credit ever exceed the buyer’s purchase price of the bull, semen or female. No guarantee is given that semen collected from any bull in this sale wiII freeze or be suitable for artificial insemination.
