Sub-Zero Wolf
Spatially there is flexibility in the way the kitchen is able to adapt.

Hawthorn East House

Our goal was to create a kitchen with a sense of tranquility, and a connectedness with the interior and exterior to foster an effortless movement and efficient workflow.

The Design: Spatially there is flexibility in the way the kitchen is able to adapt, depending on how it is used. Most of the time it is used by the homeowners who are in their 70’s, and it is also used to entertain. The butler’s pantry, with dual entries / exits allows for expansion of the space, where it can become part of, or be shut off from the main kitchen. The focus was on an ergonomic design with functionality and practicality incorporating the latest in technology whilst having a warm, embracing, timeless appeal.

The Appliances: The Sub-Zero Designer Series Refrigerator and Freezer’s practical design easily integrated into the cabinetry. The high quality luxury feel, and the food saving technology were appealing in terms of design and functionality. The Freezer provided the ideal amount of internal space, meeting the requirements of the home owners. The Wolf M-Series Contemporary Single Oven and 5 Burner Contemporary Induction Cooktop were ideal with their sleek appearance and precision technology. The touch controls are graphically uncomplicated and designed for intuitive use, and the cooktop was easily recessed into the kitchen bench allowing seamless surface transition and integration.

Concrete Curtain

FGR

The design seamlessly integrates the kitchen into the broader architectural language of the entire home, demonstrating a commitment to consistency and harmony throughout the space.

The sleek and sophisticated Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances complement the kitchen’s modernist style.

The Concept: The homeowner’s vision for a truly unique home reflects their distinctive tastes. Desiring tranquility and serenity to prevail, Concrete Curtain is a haven for rejuvenation and an enhanced sense of well-being. The kitchen serves as the vibrant heart of family life, emphasizing the significance of food in fostering their social and familial connections.

The Design: A kitchen defined by a singular material, its language is simple yet impactful with a streamlined approach evident in the seamless mitered-joined corners, unobtrusive single-point finger pulls, and thoughtful lighting. The Aquarzo Quartzite encompasses performance and emotional resonance, gracefully envelops every aspect of the kitchen creating a fully functional stone-clad space.

The Appliances: This kitchen harmoniously encompasses two defining elements: the masterful use of stone and the presence of high-end appliances. These are the elements that capture the eye’s immediate focus. The choice of Sub-Zero and Wolf products was motivated by their wellestablished reputation for unwavering commitment to quality, exceptional performance, design compatibility, and innovation. These factors were instrumental in shaping our design, ensuring that the kitchen not only met our aesthetic objectives but also surpassed our clients’ functional and technological expectations.

Natural stone, timber and metalwork combine to present refined and contemporary spaces with sophisticated appliances within the joinery, finely detailed and finished to an impeccable standard.

The Design: Given the homeowner’s passion for cooking we designed two separate kitchens that are not only aesthetically pleasing, they allow an easy workflow. One kitchen is an elegant showpiece with easy functionality; while the other was designed for preparation of predominantly Chinese cuisine, necessitating powerful ventilation. While this second kitchen is concealed, its selection of materials and appliances required the same superior level as both kitchens are used simultaneously. Natural stone, timber and metalwork combine to present refined and contemporary spaces with sophisticated appliances within the joinery, finely detailed and finished to an impeccable standard.

The Challenge: Door panel veneers were selected to match the timber flooring, which led to engaging a specialist to match all the finishes. Collaboration was paramount to this kitchen’s success in other areas, and consulting with Sub-Zero ensured proper refrigeration ventilation.

The Appliances: The client’s vision for their new kitchen was uncompromising, and this naturally extended to the choice of appliances. Sub-Zero and Wolf were selected as they consistently deliver at the top of the range on aesthetics and functionality.

The kitchen seamlessly combines natural stone, timber and metalwork to present a refined and contemporary space.

King Penthouse & Outside Kitchen

The residence responds to and references the location high above the expansive undulating harbour which glistens and reflects the abundance and clarity of natural light.

The outdoor kitchen connects to the internal living spaces whilst oriented for views to the harbour.

The Intent: Elements of curved forms, natural light and reflectivity of surfaces informed the design of the King Penthouse.

The design solution to achieve a calm and luxurious ambience for the kitchen was to backilluminate the white onyx island bench and splashback to enable gentle diffused evening lighting, acting as lanterns in the space. The lighting also enhanced the natural veining and colour shift within the warmth of the stone.

The Design: The communal heart of the residence, the kitchen was located to connect with the living spaces and oriented at a slight angle to enjoy the city and harbour views and out the heads to the ocean beyond. The stone flooring throughout the internal spaces flows-out to the terraces and clads the double-height walls behind the outdoor kitchen.

The Appliances: Both kitchens were specifically designed to incorporate the Sub-Zero and Wolf products so they could be integrated seamlessly. The 914mm Sub-Zero Designer Series integrated refrigerator provides a generous zone to easily open and close the wide door panel. This same detail was incorporated on the opposite side of the kitchen for the concealed butler’s pantry door for symmetry. The Wolf oven achieves a well-considered coherence between appliances and joinery. The outdoor kitchen incorporates the Wolf outdoor grill, warming drawer and Sub-Zero outdoor refrigeration.

Sub-Zero and Wolf products elevate this kitchen’s performance with a design language that seamlessly merges contemporary technology with timeless elegance.

Ultramarine

Decus

A design goal was to express a harmonious interplay between the timelessness and the contemporary, tradition and innovation.

The Brief: The brief was to create a relaxed home both aesthetically and functionally, with a preferred palette of oceanic shades. Our approach ensured that the design reflects the epitome of modern Australian luxury living, embodying both aesthetic refinement and practical functionality.

The Design: The main design goal was to utilise the home’s natural surroundings, especially the views from the kitchen. We expertly maximised the harbour view through the strategic integration of ample glazing, grand archways and a natural palette with soft washes of whites, creams, greys and blues. The sleek, modern additions gracefully integrate with the historic façade, paying homage to its roots through the retention of original detailing, while also offering a complementary and sticking contract with the addition of more contemporary features such as steel framed doors, Flemish glass and venetian plaster.

The Appliances: We feel confident specifying Sub-Zero and Wolf products due to their highquality craftsmanship and advanced technological features. The integration of the Sub-Zero refrigeration / freezing units behind custom solid oak joinery allowed for a sophisticated blend of functionality and aesthetics within Ultramarine. The selection of Sub-Zero and Wolf products not only elevates this kitchen’s performance but also defines a design language that seamlessly merges contemporary technology with timeless elegance.

Parsley Bay House

Photographer: Nicholas Watt

The Sub-Zero and Wolf appliance range enabled us to enhance our client’s cooking experience with intuitive, ergonomic, and clever functionality.

The Concept: Parsley Bay House was an ambitious project that encapsulated a series of spaces with a sense of refinement, luxury, and quality, whilst retaining the necessary functionality of day-to-day life.

The Design: The kitchen spaces particularly championed the idea of an elegant functionality. Paramount to our design ethos is an outcome that not only transcends the sum of all its parts, resulting in a beautiful set of spaces, but it should also embody both functional and performative aspects at its core, ensuring that we draw out the best from those spaces.

The Appliances: The project demanded an architectural specification that embodied the same traits as the spaces we sought to make, so Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances were the natural choice for the project. Their range enabled us to tailor the client’s cooking preferences, whilst providing opportunity to enhance their cooking experience with intuitive, ergonomic, and clever functionality. The appliances were thoughtfully arranged to suit the client’s cooking processes and subsequently enhanced the efficiency and optimization of the kitchen space. Where some projects seek to hide their appliances, here the Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances stand proudly, lending their own elegant aesthetic to enhance the space with their sleek, considered lines and proportions.

The kitchen spaces championed the idea of an elegant functionality.

Park House

The blackened joinery assists in creating a culinary focus on the benches and preparation creating a strong backdrop.

Mim Design

Photographer: Sean Fennessy

The Sub-Zero and Wolf equipment sits seamlessly and allows the kitchen to breathe.

The Brief: The clients of ‘Park House’ are frequent entertainers, so our brief was to create a strong working kitchen connecting the new modernist part of the home with the 1856 heritage of the original house. We used behavioral cues as catalysts within the planning and equipment selection process, anchoring the layout of the kitchen with a large island bench that curves and undulates with the surrounding spatial volumes. Each area of the kitchen was designed to robustly connect with the original heritage nature of the home as well as delivering a strong working kitchen, pantry and entertaining zone.

The Design Goals: Our design goals were to deliver a home which is conceived of a series of compelling moments and moods. Amalgamating heritage, romanticism and natural rawness, Park House reflects our unwavering ambition to create a personalized, authentic, enduring design solution, guided by our client and their everyday life. A nod to the bluestone past and inclusion of robust, heavy, built for purpose spaces creates a dramatic working kitchen.

The Appliances: The authenticity of the kitchen design and selected Sub-Zero Wolf products align perfectly from a design sensibility through to operational approach focused on ‘heavily’ celebrated cooking moments. Integration, performance, size, aesthetic and technology were integral to achieving a kitchen with a totally multifaceted holistic design approach.

The kitchen features a streamlined design with exquisite detailing, including panelling, curved stone accents, and a sleek matte black curved rangehood.

Retreat House

Latitude 37

Retreat House delivers privacy and escape in equal measure, allowing the kitchen to be connected with the natural environment through internal and external spaces.

The Design Ethos: Every aspect of Retreat House reflects Latitude 37’s design ethos: that a home should, first and foremost, prioritise and elevate the wellbeing of its residents. Appliances are seamlessly integrated to enhance the culinary experience and to achieve a meticulously designed kitchen.

The Design: The modern kitchen design delivers sleek monochromatic details that exude an effortless elegance with a luxurious and contemporary finish. The moody and monochromatic palette is accentuated by a focus on texture, with natural stone and matte black surfaces that showcase a commitment to craftsmanship. The seamless connection to the outdoors embraces the functionality of the space whilst being immersed in the beauty of nature. The integration of appliances further enhances the modern aesthetic, resulting in a harmonious and minimalistic interior design that exudes charm throughout the space. The design approach prioritises enhancing the entertaining aspect of the home through thoughtful layout and appliance selection.

The Appliances: The appliance selection from Sub-Zero and Wolf perfectly complements the interior palette, enhancing the overall kitchen design aesthetic, elevating the aesthetic of the kitchen and providing a luxurious culinary experience for the future occupants. The finish and scale of the appliances further add to the dramatic kitchen design, and their placement was thoughtfully considered to enhance the residents’ culinary experience.

Garden House

McCluskey Studio

The glass box like structure that surrounds the kitchen allows the lush gardens to greet the clients as they interact with the kitchen spaces.

Design Goals: Create an open, spacious feeling kitchen with an effortless entertaining experience featuring high quality finishes & fixtures.

Design Approach: The owners are high performing and have young children, so we wanted to eliminate further stress in their lives and create a calming atmosphere. The realised kitchen has an almost spa like quality. We capitalised on the expansive use of glass allowing natural light to flood the space. Finishes that radiate warmth in the dappled natural light further highlight the beauty of kitchen’s location. The freestanding nature allows the clients to access and enter the kitchen & scullery from both sides, further enhancing the free-flowing nature of the design.

The Appliances: We are a firm believer in quality and functionality.

The Sub-Zero and Wolf products deliver in spades in this area. Whilst the fridge and freezer were to be integrated, we needed sleek design forward appliances to sit proudly against our minimalistic natural stone backdrop. The slim profile of the transitional grill means it floats elegantly over the natural stone bench top. The contemporary black finish of the ovens, with clean metallic strip provide contrast to our lighter colour palette but tie in perfectly with the bronzed drum of the island bench.

Understated elegance was achieved through the details and an effortless functionality in design and product choice.

Gallery House

Stone has such a sense of solidity and can feel hard and cold. We softened it by curving elements normally square.

Workroom

Photographer: Timothy Kaye

The kitchen became an ode to craftsmanship, from the flooring, to the stonework produced by specialist stone masons, to the lighting and appliances.

The Brief: To create a sense of permanence, of solidity whilst feeling soft, warm and inviting. The material choices needed to make the house and the garden feel as one, with the kitchen as the centre of the home. It needed to be functional, but also have a sense beyond function. It had to define the language of the home.

The Design: The essence of the brief gave us a language that drove the idea of craft and craftsmanship. Every element was forged from rigorous understanding of material, form and technique. The kitchen became an ode to craftsmanship. Whilst the layout is simple with two freestanding benches, one of the benches is designed like a table, at a working height, but separate and individual from the other to create a feeling of conviviality.

Stone has such a sense of solidity, and can feel hard and cold. We softened it by curving elements normally square. The legs of the bench became soft, inviting your touch and feeling warmer.

The Appliances: From the outset, when we began talking about craftsmanship, detail, solidity and permanence, the choice of Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf cooking was one of the easiest choices of the project. The engineering and assembly speak only of superior craftsmanship. It was a perfect match.

Sorrento Project

Bloom Interior Design & Decoration

We aimed to create beautiful spaces that function well for our clients to entertain guests – specifically focusing on the user experience when cooking and entertaining.

The Brief: Our clients wanted to open up the space to brighten and reinvigorate the kitchen and dining area for entertaining. A larger kitchen with a more synergistic relationship between the two areas was important. They also wanted to modernise the home, whilst maintaining a homely feel.

The Design: Our design response fulfilled the client brief whilst working with the architecture and the built environment of the home. The design functions efficiently and with ease, whilst looking aesthetically beautiful and welcoming. It was also important to have a stately kitchen to match the grandness of this home.

The Appliances: A grand home, the Sorrento Project deserved appliances of the stature of Sub-Zero and Wolf in the kitchen & bar area. These appliances ticked all of the boxes for us and for our clients. The presence of Sub-Zero and Wolf products is strong. We also wanted high-quality appliances with positive user experience, that can handle entertaining guests and with high quality that will stand the test of time.

A close collaboration with the client achieved a refined and contemporary design that maintained a high standard of integrity in the design and building.

The Brief: The client’s brief was for a refined and detailed kitchen with contrasts in materiality, but overall calm for a robust growing family. The aim was to seamlessly integrate contemporary elements into the design to harmonise with the stunning view of the harbour bridge and to connect the featuring kitchen with the main hallway, dining, and living space.

The Design: The original architectural design had a phoenix-like revival. The kitchen was completely redesigned with high-quality appliances, materials and finishes that play a pivotal role in achieving the desired refined look while ensuring durability and longevity, emphasizing its details with a functional layout to accommodate the family’s daily activities. The design acknowledges the needs of a busy family, utilising detailed organisation and durable materials. Natural stones, timber veneers, and bronze detailing inject warmth, luxury, and a connection to the exterior raw palette.

The Appliances: Our clients were already Sub-Zero and Wolf fans from the USA. They have an enormous respect for the quality of the appliances and features, so it was essential to integrate the selection into the design.

Bay Blue

Openly focused, the inspiration for the interior decoration of Bay Blue is formed from a shared desire to connect and animate.

Design Goals: Mused by a familiar Californian openness, Bay Blue comes together as a layering of curated elements. Central to the brief was the instilling of an originality in all interventions and insertions, one that had a global influence, yet felt fittingly appropriate in its context.

The Design: Combining natural tones with a limited palette of finishes, a structure is overlaid to the varying levels of saturation and the subsequent functionality of the home. Fusing influences from east coast of Australia and the west coast of the U.S., Bay Blue is the result of an inviting open dialogue between the landscape and the existing architecture. Home to a young family, the interior spaces needed to ensure an element of flexibility, allowing for the impending changing needs to come. While a mostly natural and neutral palette is used to form the walls, floors, and core joinery throughout, the integration of select moments of vibrancy all help define the character of the home and express those who live within.

The Appliances: All the finishes and appliances were selected as luxury items.

Bridge Park

KWD

What makes this project so successful is how the house feels, the flow throughout the home and the soothing energy that emanates from every touchpoint.

The Brief: The design brief was for a modern farmhouse aesthetic that paid homage to the original fabric and essence of the home while making it feel fresh and new to reflect its proximity to the coast.

The Response: The design approach was to amplify the positive features, focus on the integration within the space and to maximise the views. This created a sense of open yet connected family living and allowed the home to breathe. The architectural detailing and clean lines of the custom joinery in the kitchen combined with timber and tile flooring throughout bring a touch of nostalgia. Playful elements give the home a slightly contemporary edge.

The Appliances: The industrial-style appliances with sleek stainless steel elements anchored the modern farmhouse aesthetic with a sense of luxury and purpose that defines the sophisticated essence of this spacious yet soothing kitchen design. The unparalleled functionality of the Sub-Zero fridge and Wolf range were key to the success of this space, ensuring seamless family living, stylish social gatherings and entertaining excellence and elevating the experiential elements of the space.

Nelson Terrace

PL Projects

This kitchen serves as a calm haven, meticulously designed for both aesthetic delight and optimal functionality, ensuring a pleasurable experience at all times.

Design Brief: The brief for the kitchen was to create a generous multifunctional space, a practical yet delightful eat-in kitchen that could effortlessly transform into a workspace, and an outdoor culinary hub for entertaining.

The Design: Efficiency shines in the kitchen layout, with deliberate consideration for working zones and ergonomics. Handpolished Calacatta benches complement the veneered joinery with a strong proportionate presence. Petersen bricks, used both externally and internally, enhance the sense of connection providing solidity and texture.

The Appliances: The Wolf Dual Fuel Range is considered the pinnacle for a domestic kitchen appliance. The owner was also immediately attracted to the bold aesthetics and audacious red knobs and admired the precise control and engineering of the appliance, along with the multi functionality, the easy maintenance, and self-clean function.

The Sub-Zero refrigerator was chosen for quality and operational efficiency but also for the food preservation capabilities. The undercounter refrigerator drawers offered convenient access to drinks, easily reachable whilst sitting at the table or during alfresco entertaining.

Bay House

EB Interiors

Our goal was to create a space within this grandeur that was ultimately relaxing and inviting to cook in.

The Concept: The client wanted a calming space for unwinding while maintaining understated luxury influenced by the surrounding bay and natural environment.

The Design: The hub of the home, the kitchen’s proximity to the beautifully landscaped courtyard and entertainer’s balcony creates an open feel with a lovely sense of flow. Architecturally the kitchen is spatially quite grand with a luxurious, lofty feel, and the scale of the appliances were key in using the space effectively. The positioning and exposed nature of the house and the kitchen itself meant that we needed to create a sense of intimacy with the finishes and spatial planning. The timber veneer used as the backdrop set the tone for the warmth, offset by the cooler and less tactile finishes of marble and porcelain, pared back finishes with high quality products.

The Appliances: Mostly integrated products were selected so as to seamlessly tie in with the paired back design and understated elegance of this kitchen. We selected Sub-Zero and Wolf products as they align with this high-end home and quality.

The Mez Haus

Bone and Blanc Interiors

The materials reflect the coastal location, blending the kitchen seamlessly with its coastal environment and contributing to a harmonious connection between the interior and the exterior surroundings.

The Brief: Upgrade a heritage home with a blend of Mediterranean/Coastal charm and open plan living, with a spacious kitchen perfect for entertaining their friends and family.

The Design: The Modern Mediterranean-inspired design seamlessly blends with the original heritage features of the home.

The delicate balance celebrates modern aesthetics while preserving the unique character of the older section. The materials reflect the coastal location, blending the kitchen with its coastal environment and contributing to a harmonious connection between the interior and the exterior surroundings.

The Appliances: The clients were clear about their preference for Sub-Zero and Wolf, so we structured the entire kitchen design around these appliances, making them the focal point. These iconic pieces shape the entire kitchen layout too with their clean lines and timeless design. The fridges, in particular, serve as a conversation piece in the kitchen, symbolising not just functionality but also the essence of hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. Undoubtedly, they stand as the heart of the home, embodying the central spirit of entertaining and creating a space that is both functional and inviting.

Seaforth Residence

Your Beautiful Home

Photographer: Simon Whitbread

The client has an eye for quality and was happy to invest in well-engineered products that would last and meet the needs of her family.

The Brief: The client brief required an impressive kitchen robust enough to support her large extended family. Storage and accessibility were key with the appliances having to be of the highest quality that perform well for frequent entertaining.

The Design: To create a functional yet beautiful understated space, not dominated by the number of appliances in the space. The island bench is ideal for family gatherings and for preparing and serving food when entertaining with easy access to the ovens, warming drawer, microwave and cooktop.

The Appliances: The client was impressed with the food preservation and visual appeal of Sub-Zero and Wolf. As designers we loved the ability to integrate as required and celebrate the appliances that sit harmoniously in the space. The Wolf induction cooktop was ideal, and the integration of the fridges, freezer and warming drawer afforded us this seamless feel and allowed the island fluted detail and Neolith bar back panel to be the hero along with the stunning Walnut veneer throughout.

Glen Iris House

Pandolfini Architects

Photographer:

Compositional simplicity, bold materiality and intricate detailing define Glen Iris House.

Design Goal: To explore bold materiality with compositional simplicity and intricate detailing.

The Design: The house is composed of three pavilions which step down along the contours of the long rectangular site. Glazed links connect the pavilions, accentuating their material and formal differences. A contrasting palette of raw and finished materials accentuate the resultant forms and create a sense of permanence and solidity. The front façade features Terracotta bricks that are laid vertically and on a 45-degree angle, referencing the tiled roofs of the adjacent houses before transitioning into herringbone tiling as one moves through the house.

The Appliances: We carefully selected a Wolf range and Sub-Zero fridge as the central elements of the kitchen design. These iconic appliances not only exemplify exceptional quality and performance but also significantly influenced the overall design and functionality of the kitchen. The Wolf range serves as the heart of the kitchen, elevates the culinary experience and inspires creativity in the kitchen, perfectly complemented by the Sub-Zero fridge. With its spacious interior and customizable storage options, the Sub-Zero fridge offered the client both functionality and organization, making it an essential component of our design.

St Andrews Beach House

Planned Living Architects

Photographer: Chris McConville

This practical and functional kitchen space celebrates and exhibits the preparation and cooking process, rather than hiding or minimizing it.

The Design: The design delivers an aesthetically pleasing, functional, practical and collaborative kitchen space with a significant investment in appliances. The kitchen sits harmoniously within the broader architecture and locale with its design and material palette. A seamless finish from benchtop to cooktop ensures a clean transition. A no-fuss design, the appliances do much of the talking rather than competing with the cabinetry.

The Appliances: The client had very specific requirements for cooking and food storage, and a desire to display the full functionality of their kitchen rather than hiding it away. The neutral tones and industrial aesthetic of the appliances were drawn upon and reflected in the materiality of the kitchen.

Hampden Penthouse

A

home of enlightened design and enriching living, each space exudes a sense of space and natural flow.

The Concept: Hampden Apartments is a boutique collection of nine large-scale apartment residences on a tree-lined corner in a most coveted address. Every element of this penthouse was crafted to reflect not only the family’s needs but also the designer’s philosophy of intelligent architecture, healthy design, a tradition of craftsmanship and a deep connection with nature.

The Design: The kitchen design was conceived for daily family life and regular entertaining using space, form, texture and technology to create a home that is effortless, refined and design-conscious. We anchored the kitchen space in dark textures and darktoned surfaces to create a sense of solidity and permanence with the clean lines of the cabinetry and benchtops integrating the appliances.

The Appliances: Black appliances by Wolf and Sub-Zero were selected for the kitchen to sit seamlessly among the dark cabinetry and benchtops. The appliance selection led the interior design to match. In the kitchen, functionality is equal to aesthetics. The range of cooking and refrigeration products by Sub-Zero and Wolf allow for rapid and easy meal preparation, the freshness and longevity of food, and the purity of water flowing every day. The warming drawer and wine storage unit add to the effortlessness of entertaining dinner party guests.

River Contemporary

Functionality and continuity were the key focus for an efficient workflow and a seamless integration.

The Brief: Design an all-rounder entertaining space with quality cooking centrepieces. A simple functional form without waste, allowing circulation and comfort, with hardwearing fixtures without compromising on refinement.

The Design: We created a seamlessly integrated cooking and social hub that blends part of the living and dining, paying particular attention to creating a kitchen that integrated all the homeowners desired cooking functions. The design reinforces the home’s modern design with beautiful basic elements such as Tasmanian Oak Porta moulding to complement the polished concrete flooring , a basic white palette, and a sleek aesthetic.

The Appliances: The Sub-Zero Wine Storage unit appealed to the owners’ interest in purveying fine vintages that require correct storage and temperature control. The Designer Series fridge and freezer units with their advanced preservation technology played an integral role. The Wolf 76cm Transitional E Series Oven and Convection Steam Oven were chosen for the quality, performance, versatility, size and aesthetics of the design. The Wolf Induction cooktop was selected for its power and efficiency, and a design aesthetic that matched the rest of the appliance selection.

Epping Residence

The renowned performance of Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf cooking appliances laid a strong foundation for our design which focused on highlighting the sleek and modern aesthetic as integral design elements.

Design Goals:To create a kitchen in keeping with the architectural integrity of the home, and that was a dream to cook and entertain in with family and friends.

The Design: Balancing functionality with an exceptional aesthetic became our guiding principle, requiring a nuanced and creative approach. A seamless fusion of modern aesthetics and architecture, we artfully integrated contemporary aesthetics with the existing canvas, honouring the home’s structure and elevating its visual appeal through a thoughtful and cohesive design approach. With an emphasis on meticulous detailing, we created an atmosphere of visual serenity and purposeful design that transcends mere functionality, evolving into a contemporary culinary oasis.

The Appliances: The layout and cabinetry were meticulously crafted to complement the appliances, creating a cohesive and visually striking kitchen. Our design was influenced by the need to embrace and showcase the excellence of Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances, and the result is a kitchen that not only meets the client’s unwavering preference but also celebrates the inherent style and performance of these exceptional appliances, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics.

Sukari Design

Photographer: Pablo Veiga

Rural Modernity features a kitchen designed with a beautiful aesthetic that maximises the opportunity for cooking and entertaining.

The Design: This beautifully designed kitchen features the best appliances available with full height cabinetry and mixed materiality. The heart of the design is the 4.6m New York marble bench top with a custom edge to match the Wolf Dual Fuel Range bullnose.

The Appliances: As the client enjoys cooking, and entertaining, the Wolf Dual Fuel Range was an important selection along with the integration of the Sub-Zero appliances.

Toorak Penthouse

The sleek lines, premium appliances and thoughtful details of the kitchen can be admired and appreciated as an integral part of the overall living space.

The Brief: The clients wanted to create a space that exuded a ‘wow’ factor with a captivating colour palette. A functional and aesthetically pleasing open floorplan for the living spaces allows family and friends to gather for group celebrations or more intimate occasions.

The Design: The slightly monochromatic foundation is infused with a sophisticated materials palette of luxurious elements such as bronze detailing throughout to enhance the overall aesthetic – the custom bronze rangehood is a standout feature. The open floorplan provides an unobstructed view of the custom contemporary kitchen from various vantage points within the apartment. This visibility allows the kitchen to serve as a focal point showcasing its modern design, sophisticated materials palette, and stylish features.

The Appliances: We were pursuing a sophisticated black and brass/bronze theme through the apartment. The black Wolf appliances matched the brief perfectly as high-quality appliances with the ability to flush mount. Similarly, the ability to mount a matching joinery panel to the glass fronted Sub-Zero wine fridge allowed it to blend seamlessly into the fabric of the kitchen. The bold Sub-Zero PRO Series works perfectly with the scale of the apartment.

Victoria Hill Camberwell

Time & Place

The application of a contemporary lens of Victorian detailing explored across joinery elements throughout contributes to the thoughtful design execution.

Design Goals: To create a timeless design with materiality and functionality surpassing trends and fads, and upgrading the owners’ lifestyle without compromising on quality and design.

The Design: The kitchen is the focal point as the heart of the home, inspired by the traditional Victorian style home with a modernised evolution. Grounding the space with strong and rigorous symmetry of form, the design is a modern take on high Victorian approach and detailing like the bold strapping details expressed through the monolithic form of the island bench. The palette is a calm, soft and warm base with timber joinery and a focus on soft natural texture & tone rather than overtly bold finishes. This palette, combined with the soft checkerboard flooring demarcating the space, references thresholds of the old world.

The Appliances: A kitchen of this quality requires appliances to match the expectations of the homeowners - avid home chefs desiring the highest quality appliances to create restaurant level meals for family. Sub Zero and Wolf are an expectation when providing ultra luxurious homes.

Balgowlah Heights WINIM

The kitchen design blends sculptural elements for drama and interest and a mix of textures and materials in an unpredictable way, with an investment in appliances that maximise functionality and hero cutting edge technology.

The Brief: With a love for entertaining and a growing family, the homeowners wanted a clean, open and contemporary kitchen that was generous, functional and beautiful, with a purposeful design for functionality and flow. The design had to honour the home’s coveted coastal location with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

The Design: The use of form, texture and understated yet captivating finishes created a kitchen that was the epitome of luxury, while working effortlessly for the family. The curve of the Calcutta Oro Marble benchtop mirrors the coffered ceiling above, while the sculptural fireplace and striking bronze curved range hood complete the space by creating a natural softness.

The Appliances: The Wolf M Series Professional built-in double oven and warming drawer were chosen for the homeowners’ love of cooking and entertaining. There was not a millimetre to spare in the kitchen reconfiguration, so sleek integration was crucial. The refrigeration options are aesthetically impressive and offer capacity and food preservation that is second to none. The design of the bar and dining area was also influenced by Sub-Zero appliances, including integrated wine storage units and refrigerator drawers.

Byron Bay Beach House

Workroom

Byron Bay is a unique place, relaxed with no sense of urgency. Bay Beach House reflects this with an effortless design and a sense of refinement permeating the home.

Design Goals: Nestled in a rainforest in the coastal town of Byron Bay, the owners of this unique site wanted to create a place to escape, where they were protected from the harsh coastal environment but also were a part of it.

The Design: The kitchen design has a very intimate connection to nature and its elements. The work area is devoid of the typical cabinetry, storage and equipment but is still extremely practical. Whilst not physically in the centre of the house, it has a strong identity as the centre of the home. The landscape that surrounds the house is a fundamental element of the kitchen design.

The Appliances: This house was designed for a family of cooks and from the outset, the brief included Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. Not only were we looking for quality and performance in the kitchen but we needed a product that could withstand the elements of the harsh environment. Located near the sea, the house itself is completely clad in porcelain inside and out to ensure longevity. The choice of appliances needed to be in the same vein - a company that takes quality of manufacture and selection of material seriously. Sub-Zero and Wolf was the only choice.

PALA

Havendeen Projects +

The appliances in this home were to mirror the design ethos of the project –bold and powerful yet still refined.

The Brief: Find a balance between a functional family kitchen and a sophisticated mature design, with the ability to adapt and as their young family evolves.

The Design: The layout of the kitchen creates a functional hub where the family meals are prepared in a safe efficient way with good access between cooktop/oven, sink and refrigerator. Black stone and timber joinery were chosen to anchor the house, creating a bold and yet calming hub of the family home.

The Appliances: With an expansive 3.4m ceiling height and central void the kitchen easily supports the large Wolf Dual Fuel Range with its striking red knobs and bold aesthetics. The professional aesthetic and refined industrial look complements the dark tones of the kitchen. The Wolf M Series convection steam ovens and warming drawer are stacked to suit the design and allow for more bench space in the butler’s pantry.

With a growing family the fridge is always open and there is a need for food to stay fresh as long as possible. We chose the refined and sleek Sub-Zero Classic Series with stainless steel exterior and pro handles to coordinate with Wolf products in the kitchen for continuity of design.

Cloud House

Dean Dyson Architects

Cloud House exemplifies a graceful charm that beautifully reflects the owners’ journey from the past to the present, encapsulating the life they have created.

Design Goals: To create a space with an effortless sense of flow that exudes sophistication, tranquility, and gentleness, while also being welcoming, practical, and durable.

The Design: The design combines gentle curves, structural voids, natural light and serene textures in an earthly color palette arranged to nurture a calming and peaceful feeling. Inspired by nature, the color palette blends warm tones, soft neutral fabrics and earthy textures. Marble surfaces are seamlessly incorporated into bespoke timber joinery. Bold bronzed steel fixtures & fittings fuse & balance material composition.

The Appliances: The Sub-Zero and Wolf contemporary design range, with its slim profile and sleek aesthetic, perfectly resonated with our design approach. The stone benchtop was meticulously crafted to cradle the induction cooktop creating a perfectly seamless visual and tactile experience. A custom-designed metal surround houses the Wolf M Series oven, convection steam oven, and warming drawer, showcasing them as a stunning collection. Sub-Zero’s Designer Series integrated refrigerator and freezer were consciously concealed within a stunning timber veneer wall. The act of restraint was a deliberate choice, aimed at achieving visual calm and balance across the kitchen.

Albert Park

Our design strategy centered on bold minimalism, exemplified by the butterflied natural marble. Incorporating burnished metal punctuated the stonework, making the traditional waterfall edge an exciting and dynamic feature.

The Concept: To transform the kitchen into a more functional and visually pleasing space with built-in appliances and additional ovens. Achieving visual cohesion was paramount to create a seamless transition from one living area to another.

The Design: A haven of tidiness and functionality, we envisioned a kitchen where every item had its place, eliminating clutter and enhancing ease of use. To balance the proportion and vertical height with the retained rangehood, we incorporated design elements that visually elongated the space, making it feel more expansive. Strategic placement of cabinetry, lighting, and matte surfaces contributed to this illusion, with a subtle wall of cabinetry echoed under both sides of the marble island.

The Appliances: To infuse the kitchen with a sense of opulence and sophistication, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances were specified. The strategically placed Classic Series side-by-side fridge/ freezer near the outdoor space and primary walkway cater to the practical needs of a family home. The thoughtful continuation of handle fixtures from the fridge units to surrounding cabinetry creates a seamless visual flow. Addressing the client’s need for additional appliances, Wolf ovens are stacked for efficient use of space.

Seamless integration of appliances was paramount with simple yet bold aesthetics referencing the clean, commercial design of the fridge without compromising the functionality of the space.

The Design: Our client always wanted a Sub-Zero PRO Series in their house and wanted to celebrate it and make it the focal point of the kitchen. To balance the functionality and clean aesthetics and maximise the space, we zoned the kitchen into discrete elements – cooking, refrigeration and wash/prep areas, which are expressed as three blocks configured with a traditional three-point, triangular arrangement.

The Appliances: The homeowners loved the Sub-Zero PRO refrigerator/freezer with glass door for its high quality, temperature control, decreased food wastage and size and zoning of fridge and freezer. The Wolf Transitional Induction Range is complementary in quality, size, and temperature control. The kitchen has been designed as an extension of the Sub-Zero and Wolf products. Stainless steel wrapping of every cabinetry panel seamlessly integrates the products further into the kitchen. Sub-Zero handles are used on all vertical elements, so the storage looks continuous to the exterior of the fridge and all vertical elements match the height of the fridge, emphasizing the kitchen as a object and avoiding crowding the fridge with overhead cupboards or storage.

Valhalla Place of Happiness

Provincial Kitchens

The overall look and feel of the kitchen complements the herringbone floors and the wrought iron doors, completing the Parisian feel of the apartment.

The Brief: A traditional Parisian-style kitchen that maximised the use of the small space, and that was light and airy with a whimsical feminine touch.

The Design: We created a visually appealing kitchen with the range and the rangehood as the hero piece with open shelves and ample storage, an appliance cabinet and a large corner walk in pantry.

The Appliances: The Sub-Zero fridge and the Wolf Dual Fuel Range were the hero pieces of the kitchen. The integrated wine fridge was chosen for its elegance, yet capacity in such a small space.

We aimed to cultivate a harmonious balance between spatial efficiency and captivating design, creating an urban retreat that was both calming and visually impactful.

The Design Goals: To establish a serene and expansive atmosphere within the relatively compact urban footprint, with an overarching sense of openness and calm throughout ensuring the urban setting didn’t compromise tranquility. The cantilevered marble kitchen island seamlessly balancing functionality with a harmonious blend of style and utility to elevate daily living amidst the simplicity and urban serenity of the surroundings.

The Appliances: The Sub-Zero and Wolf products not only met practical needs but also elevated the kitchen’s overall aesthetic, contributing to a sculptural and statement-making focal point as desired by the clients.

Park Quarter

DKO

The functional and luxurious kitchen has been curated for real life, offering generous amounts of storage, Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and luxurious materiality and design detailing.

The Design Goal: To create a space that is aspirational and sophisticated. Sculptural forms with softened edges create moments of delight in the floorplan and arrangement of spaces. Throughout, curved joinery elements reference the architectural form. The centrepiece is the kitchen island with an impressive circular plinth that creates a beautiful moment for serving and gathering.

The Appliances: We specified Sub-Zero Designer Series integrated refrigerator/freezer with internal water dispenser and ice maker and Wolf M Series oven and speed oven due to the combination of smart technology, intuitive controls and streamlined aesthetic appeal.

Lana Project Kitchen

The Brief: To completely refurbish a dated apartment and open the floor plan for a vibrant young couple.

The Design: The design celebrates the existing historical structure by uncovering and replicating long hidden original features. We reconfigured an inefficient layout, removing a dividing wall that split the apartment allowing the kitchen and living areas to span the width of the apartment and maximise waterfront views.

The Appliances: The kitchen design was centered around the industrial aesthetic of the Sub-Zero and Wolf products and the appliances were selected to reflect the strength and industrial heritage of the historic precinct.

Thankyou to all of the talented design professionals who entered the Sub-Zero Wolf Kitchen Design Contest.
