Early Years

We are always looking for ways to develop speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills at the same time. Students are now using all of these skills in the writing process!

The class goes through a three-stage process to develop writing skills all the while improving other parts of language. We start with the Imitation phase in which the class uses a visual story map to ‘imitate’ the story as told by the teacher. Then is the Innovation stage where the class begins creating a new story by changing key elements of the story Finally, students apply everything they have learned while they create their own story in the Independent Application phase. These three phases offer ample opportunities for children to use all their language skills while developing their writing.
