Programm Lange Nacht Klänge Strukturen Situationen 2025
VORWORT
Die Lange Nacht – Klänge | Strukturen | Situationen findet dieses Jahr zum elften Mal statt. Während die ersten Jahre von Studierenden durchgeführt wurden, wird die Organisation bereits zum fünften Mal in Folge vom Studio zeitgenössische Musik (SZM) koordiniert. Wie jedes Jahr können alle Angehörigen der ZHdK ein Projekt für den Anlass anmelden, sofern Sound oder Komposition in der Arbeit eine zentrale Rolle spielen. Das unkuratierte Programm spiegelt die Vielfalt der an der ZHdK entstehenden Projekte sowie die genuinen Interessen der Künstler:innen wider. Wir sind überzeugt, dass diese Haltung besonders im akademischen Kontext sinnvoll ist – einem Umfeld, in dem man eher als anderswo die Freiheit haben sollte, zu experimentieren und Risiken einzugehen. Diese Perspektive hat sich für uns bei jeder Ausgabe aufs Neue bestätigt, in der sowohl Studierende als auch Lehrende die Gelegenheit genutzt haben, herausragende Projekte zu realisieren.
Dieses Jahr wird die Lange Nacht vom neu gegründeten Ensemble art_is_ try contemporary music collective ZHdK mit einer Komposition von James Tenney in der Kaskadenhalle eröffnet. Unter der Leitung von Lars Mlekusch werden künftig unter diesem Label unterschiedliche zeitgenössische Formen und Formate präsentiert.
Kollaborationen mit unterschiedlichen Instituten der ZHdK haben – wie jedes Jahr – ebenfalls Platz an der Langen Nacht. So präsentiert das ICST zum zweiten Mal im Nordraum ein Projekt der ICST Residency, dieses Jahr mit der südkoreanischen Künstlerin Hyewon Suk. Erstmals wird in Kooperation mit dem Farb-Licht-Zentrum das Thema Licht als gestalterisch-künstlerisches Medium in das Programm der Langen Nacht integriert und im Kunstraum ausgestellt. Präsentationen aus Seminaren wie dem Medienpraxis-Seminar (19:15 Uhr im Aktionsraum) oder den Werkstätten Hybrid Sound Fields des BA Schulmusik und Musik & Bewegung (ab 20 Uhr im Raum 7.B03) finden ebenso Platz wie Projekte aus der Forschung (z. B. Oblique Sounds im Raum 5.K01).
Den Kern des Programms bilden jedoch die Projekte der Studierenden, von denen viele eigens für die Lange Nacht entwickelt wurden. Dabei heissen wir Studierende aus allen Disziplinen willkommen. Dieses Jahr dabei sind unter anderem studentische Projekte aus der Transdisziplinarität (in den Galerien 1 + 2), dem Department Theater (im Raum 1.D08 – Achtung: Der Raum ist
tre (in Room 1.D08 – note: this room is hard to find, so interested guests are asked to gather at 9 PM in the entrance hall on Level 3 and walk to the performance together), the Department of Fine Arts – for example, a sound installation in the Kaskadenhalle invites visitors to linger – as well as projects from Art Education and Cultural Critique, with two sound installations in Kammermusiksaal 2 and the Seminar Room 5.D01.
The Department of Music is also well represented: Composition, Electroacoustic Composition, Creative Music Practices, Computer Music, Specialized Music Performance, Jazz, and Music Education are just a few of the disciplines featured. As such, the projects on display are highly diverse, ranging from historical to contemporary materials, including premieres and performative experiments.
The audience is invited to drift, to embrace the unfamiliar, or to re-experience the known in a new light. The diversity of the Long Night reflects how sound, music, and performance are interpreted today and the potential they hold to shape our society: as a collective event rich in connections, intensities, and themes. We celebrate this at the bar in the Kaskadenfoyer, which offers not only drinks but also homemade sandwiches for your physical well-being. As tradition dictates, a carefully selected whisky selection in Pitt’s Whisky Bar rounds off the evening starting at 10:45 PM with one final sensory experience.
Lastly, we would like to thank all those involved – the students and faculty who contributed to the success of this event, the various departments at ZHdK who supported us, and everyone else who helped organize this Long Night.
