The purpose of this project is to dialogue with the phenomenon of "gentrification" that is brought about by consumerism and urban development in the Sanlitun district. This project points out the negative daily impact of consumerism, by spatially forming strategies and plans to promote the exploration of urban renewal mode in Beijing.
The project emphasizes the concept of “agora” as a response to the full-scale gentrification of Sanlitun, calling for the resuscitation of the beauty of everydayness. "market ecosystem" is a strategy that concatenates multiple market functions of a given neighborhood that self-sufficiently suffice inhabitants’ basic needs. By forming distinctive architectural forms and unique spatial arrangements, the project endeavors to provide an alternative response to traditional office business building blocks.
The site of this case is located around the 798 Art District in Beijing. There are three art parks and an art university around the site, and also a large number of art workers in the surrounding residential areas. This design is based on this feature of the surrounding site and is intended to create a comfortable home that presents the unique style of different artists.
Based on the artist's tendency to transform his belongings, after completing the first stage of the construction of the building, the leading power will be handed over to the owner. And three transformation methods will be provided for the user: painting reconstruction; green plant transformation; building renovation.Under the direction of the user, the second stage of the transformation design will be completed, thus forming a brilliant and wonderful artistic community of different styles.
Under the policy of "reforestation of farmland", this site is expected to re-forest 80% of the existing farmland back to woods or fruit forests within 25 years, and the site will eventually surrounded by forest. By observing how children interact with trees, their behavior pattern can be Summarized. this project using the exsited trees as the center point to organize the entire site and create a circular space. The circular playground and climbing frame enclosed by the building gives children a conform and safe place to explore the nature.
The "forest" concept are interduced in this project to create an external environment that blended with the surrounding woods and hidden the border of the kindergarten into the woods to create a natural and comfortable building space for children.

According to the historical climate law of the Earth for more than 4 billion years, the latest report draws the following conclusions. If the Earth's climate evolves according to existing trends, it will experience a sudden drop in temperature hundreds of millions of years later and begin a long glacial period. As a result, the temperature of the Earth's surface has plummeted, and the climate can no longer adapt to most organisms, and the existing ecosystems will be severely damaged or even cease to exist.
"The Ark" imagines a giant structure that can grow, with a filter membrane structure and a bionic skeleton that supports and transports. The whole system consists of many Tyson polygonal cells with a square cell structure. Each unit can provide an ecosystem, its internal environment is relatively stable, and it can exchange necessary materials with the outside of the building and other units. Each ecosystem is independent and not isolated. Forests, oceans, wetlands, grasslands and other four major natural ecosystems, combined with the urban ecosystem, a human-made environment, together shrink and map the entire planet's ecosystem into structures, so that the life and vitality of the earth can exist in the severe cold climate.
With a sophisticated highway systems, Los Angeles has a car-based architectural scale that results in many left-over spaces near by highways. If these space can be developed properly, especially around University areas, it will appease the housing demand while developing a residential community for students.
This Thesis tackles the concern of how to use the leftover space around the highway and boulevard to provide students with comfortable dormitories that meet their residential needs. Owning to the strength and lightness of FRP materials, this design will provide housing units that are modularized and easy to assemble. The units also grants accessibility for the site to compensate the secluded slopped site caused by the highway, creating amenities for surrounding communities.
A high-rise 9-story office buildingwith a CLT structure. The venue is located in the Los Angeles Downtown Area. The Program has three office departments, each of them has two floors of offices. Though each department is independent from each other, they have a shared public space. The pantry and lounge are interspersed among the three departments as separate masses. Through the atrium, the lounges are connected with the office spaces.
