Mallika Jain Cadin (she/her) (Carrie Bradshaw) is a sophomore musical theater major from Irvine, CA. This will be her second production in the Department of Drama, her past credit including Pippin (Swing, Understudy Catherine, Co-Dance Captain). She is thrilled to share the stage with her talented friends, and to have worked with this incredible company. Jude Chong (he/him) (1) is a sophomore B.F.A. musical theater major from Miami, FL and a recent graduate of New World School of the Arts. He is so amped to be making his Syracuse University Department of Drama debut in A Walrus in the Body of a Crocodile! Previous credits at Syracuse include the Syracuse Stage/Department of Drama co-production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Swing), and Black Box Player’s B.F.A.! A New Musical (Ensemble, u/s Mason and Conor). He would like to thank all of his best friends, family, and especially Daniella and the entire cast for making this experience so wonderful and joyous. Hazel Kinnersley (they/she) (4) is a junior acting major from Brattleboro, VT. Their previous work at the Syracuse University Department of Drama includes Nim Dullyn in The Droll (mainstage) and Child Skriker in The Skriker (studio project). They are elated to continue their work as a part of such an important and personal show alongside so many wonderfully creative and talented artists.
Maya Landry (any pronouns) (2) is a sophomore musical theater major from Ventura, CA. Maya previously appeared in the Department of Drama production of Twelfth Night (mainstage). They thank their family, professors, and friends for their endless support and encourage everyone to stay curious.
Harrison Wei (he/him) (Intimacy Captain, u/s: 1, 3) is a sophomore acting major and hails from Concord, MA! A Walrus in the Body of a Crocodile is his second Syracuse University Department of Drama associated show, and he has had a wonderful time bonding and learning with the rest of the ensemble. Brooklyn Green (she/her) (Costume Designer) is a senior theater design and technology major with a concentration in costume and lighting from San Diego, CA. Other Syracuse credits include co-costume designer on Head Over Heels (Department of Drama mainstage) and scenic/costume design for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Black Box Players).
Jay Korter (Lighting Designer) is a senior theater design and technology major with concentrations in lighting and sound design from Syracuse, NY. Select De-
partment of Drama mainstage credits include Twelfth Night (sound designer) and Ghost Ship (sound designer). He also worked as the sound designer/engineer for the Theatre Aspen 2024 summer education season and cabaret series. Special thanks to his chemist parents for always supporting his love of theater!
Kevin O’Connor ( Sound Designer ) is currently in his 16th season working for Syracuse Stage and the Syracuse University Department of Drama. He graduated from St. Lawrence University with a B.A. in music in 2008. Almost all of Kevin’s sound design credits have been with the Department of Drama over the past 12 years, and some of his favorite designs have been Dance Nation (2023), Bright Half Life (2021), Romeo & Juliet (2020), Good Kids (2019), The Baltimore Waltz (2018), Laura and the Sea (2016), Measure for Measure (2015), and Stepping Out (2014). Kevin also created the sound designs for Red Riding Hood, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (2022), Danny, King of the Basement (2021), and Miss Electricity (2018) for the Syracuse Stage/Department of Drama Bank of America Children’s Tour. Besides sound design, Kevin has also worked as the A1 position, controlling the audio console/live mixing, for most of the musicals for both Syracuse Stage and the Department of Drama over the past 15 years. Some of his favorite productions have been Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Elf the Musical, Little Shop of Horrors, Next to Normal, Ring of Fire, Berlin to Broadway, Nine, Avenue Q, Hairspray, Parade, Seussical, Merrily We Roll Along, and Cabaret. He also feels privileged to have worked as the A1 on the productions of Thoughts of a Colored Man (2019) and How to Dance in Ohio (2022), during their Syracuse Stage runs before moving to Broadway.
Maddy Clark (Properties Supervisor) is a senior theater design and technology major from Austin, TX, with a concentration in lighting design and stage properties.
Erica Murphy (she/her) ( Movement Director ) is an actor, director, educator, and movement specialist. She has performed in world premieres in Chicago, Paris, and New York City, and has worked with Portland Stage, Good Theater, Mad Horse Theatre Company, Fenix Theatre Company, Ziggurat Theater, Theater at Monmouth, The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, and PortFringe. Recent productions include The Play That Goes Wrong (Portland Stage), Death Wings Project (in collaboration with Dramatic Repertory Company and The Theater Project), and Balloonacy (The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine). She studied with Theatrical Intimacy Education, and she has provided movement and intimacy coordination for productions with Syracuse University, Geva Theatre, Portland Stage, and others. Murphy is a certified
Feldenkrais practitioner, and a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul University and the Jacques Lecoq International School of Theater in Paris. She has previously taught theater at Brandeis University and the University of Southern Maine and is currently an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University.
DaiAwen Cynfamau (they/fae/she) (Intimacy Director) is a Syracuse University alumn from Wales, UK. Notable intimacy credits include American Horror Story (FX), Marty Supreme (A24) and of course the Department of Drama’s h*llo k*tty syndrome (Black Box Players). Seb Arora (she/he/they) (Stage Manager) is a junior stage management major from Madison, WI. They are very excited to be making their Syracuse University Department of Drama mainstage debut with such an important show. Previous stage management credits include: Baltimore Waltz (Black Box Players), assistant stage manager on Failure: A Love Story (mainstage), and Touched (mainstage). She completed a stage management internship with Syracuse Stage on Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.
Daniella Caggiano (she/they) is queer disabled director, intimacy director, and proud third generation New Yorker. Some of her favorite projects include Fun Home (in a real funeral home, starring Jenn Collela), Next to Normal (benefitting The JED Foundation), Head Over Heels, Glass Town, Vinegar Tom (performed with an original Riot Grrrl score), Show Me Eternity, Macbeth and The Moss Maidens (3x extended, winner Best Play, SheNYC). They are an alum of Roundabout’s Directors Group, MTC Directing Fellowship, The Drama League Residency, and alum of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab. Daniella has also assisted or associate directed for rockstars Leigh Silverman and Rebecca Taichman. Most recently, Daniella directed a reading of Here Is Gone, a sci-fi jukebox musical featuring the songs of the Goo Goo Dolls. Abby Thurmon (she/her) (Assistant Scenic Designer) is a sophomore theater design and technology major from American Canyon, CA.
MJ Kaufman (he/they) is a playwright and screenwriter from Portland, OR/ Multnomah Territory currently living in New York City/Lenapehoking. Their plays have been seen at the Public Theater, WP Theater, National Asian American Theater Company, Clubbed Thumb, Colt Coeur, Williamstown Theater Festival, InterAct Theater, Yale School of Drama and numerous other theaters and schools around the country as well as in Russian in Moscow and in Australia. Their work has been developed by the Lark Play Development Center, the Playwrights Realm, Page73 and New York Theater Workshop among others. MJ received a 2022 grant from the The NYC Women’s Fund for Media, Music and Theatre Fund. They have also received a Helen Merrill Emerging Writers Award, an ASCAP Cole Porter Prize in Playwriting, the Global Age Project Prize, and the Jane Chambers Prize in Feminist Theatre. MJ has held residencies at the New Museum, MacDowell Colony, and SPACE on Ryder Farm and is currently a resident playwright at New Dramatists. MJ has been a member of the Public Theater’s Emerging Writers’ Group, WP Theater Lab, a core playwright at InterAct Theatre and a playwriting fellow at the Huntington Theater. An alum of Wesleyan University and Yale School of Drama, MJ has taught playwriting at Yale College, Fordham University, Wesleyan University, SUNY Purchase College and University of the Arts. MJ is currently an Assistant Professor of Dramatic Writing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. MJ curated the 2016 and 2017 seasons of Trans Theater Fest at The Brick and, along with Kit Yan and Cece Suazo, founded Trans Lab Fellowship, a program to support emerging transgender theater artists. MJ’s short film Therapist Crush won the Audience Choice Best Film Award at TRANSlations film festival. MJ has also written for Netflix and is currently developing a feature film with Anonymous Content.
Ralph Zito (he, him) is in his fifteenth year as chair of the Department of Drama. He came to Syracuse University from the Juilliard School Drama Division, where he had been a teacher and director from 1992 to 2010 and chair of the Voice and Speech Department since 1999. He was a director and adjunct lecturer in the Barnard College Theater Department from 2006 until 2010 and has been a guest artist at training programs across the country, including the Old Globe in San Diego, The University of Texas at Austin, and the Academy for Classical Acting in Washington, DC. Directing credits for the Department of Drama include: The Spitfire Grill, As You Like It, Gruesome Playground Injuries, and The Aliens. He has served as a voice, text or dialect consultant for numerous professional productions both on and off-Broadway, including: The Light in the Piazza; Awake and Sing!; The Herbal Bed; Mrs. Klein; The Fiery Furnace; The Time of the Cuckoo (Lincoln Center Theatre); Tongue of a Bird; The Merchant of Venice (New York Shakespeare Festival); The Pitchfork Disney (Blue Light Theatre Company); Birdy (The Women’s Project); The Model Apartment (Primary Stages); the New York premiere of Tony Kushner’s SLAVS! (New York Theatre Workshop); and The African Company Presents Richard III (The Acting Company). His regional theater credits include numerous productions at The Shakespeare Theatre and Arena Stage in Washington, DC; Syracuse Stage; Baltimore CENTERSTAGE; Hartford Stage; and the McCarter Theatre, among others. A former touring member of The Acting Company, he served as artistic associate of The Chautauqua Theatre Company for seven years and was a member of the Board of Directors of The American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT) for six years. He is a graduate of Harvard University, The Juilliard School, and the American Center for the Alexander Technique. He was recently awarded the prestigious Juilliard President’s Medal in recognition of his contributions to both Juilliard and to the broader performing arts community.
Part of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the Syracuse University Department of Drama offers degree programs in acting, musical theater, theater design and technology, stage management, and theater management utilizing conservatory-style training in a university setting and in collaboration with Syracuse Stage.
